1 R easumió Job su discurso, y dijo:

And Job again took up his parable, and said,

2 V ive Dios, que ha negado mi derecho, Y el Omnipotente, que amargó el alma mía,

As God liveth, who hath taken away my right, And the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul:

3 Q ue todo el tiempo que mi alma esté en mí, Y haya hálito de Dios en mis narices,

(For my life is yet whole in me, And the spirit of God is in my nostrils);

4 M is labios no hablarán iniquidad, Ni mi lengua pronunciará mentira.

Surely my lips shall not speak unrighteousness, Neither shall my tongue utter deceit.

5 N unca tal acontezca que yo os dé la razón; Hasta que muera, no quitaré de mí mi integridad.

Far be it from me that I should justify you: Till I die I will not put away mine integrity from me.

6 M i justicia tengo asida, y no la cederé; No me reprochará mi conciencia en todos mis días.

My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

7 S ea como el impío mi enemigo, Y como el inicuo mi adversario.

Let mine enemy be as the wicked, And let him that riseth up against me be as the unrighteous.

8 P orque ¿cuál es la esperanza del impío, por mucho que haya acumulado, Cuando Dios le quite la vida?

For what is the hope of the godless, though he get him gain, When God taketh away his soul?

9 ¿ Oirá Dios su clamor Cuando la tribulación venga sobre él?

Will God hear his cry, When trouble cometh upon him?

10 ¿ Se deleitaba él en el Omnipotente? ¿Invocaba a Dios en todo tiempo?

Will he delight himself in the Almighty, And call upon God at all times?

11 Y o os enseñaré en cuanto al poder de Dios; No esconderé los misteriosos designios del Omnipotente.

I will teach you concerning the hand of God; That which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.

12 H e aquí que todos vosotros lo habéis visto; ¿Por qué, pues, os habéis hecho tan enteramente vanos?

Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; Why then are ye become altogether vain?

13 É sta es para con Dios la porción del hombre impío, Y la herencia que los violentos han de recibir del Omnipotente:

This is the portion of a wicked man with God, And the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty:

14 S i sus hijos se multiplican, serán para la espada; Y sus pequeños no se saciarán de pan.

If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword; And his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.

15 L os que de él queden, los enterrará la peste, Y no los llorarán sus viudas.

Those that remain of him shall be buried in death, And his widows shall make no lamentation.

16 A unque amontone plata como polvo, Y prepare ropa como lodo;

Though he heap up silver as the dust, And prepare raiment as the clay;

17 L a habrá preparado él, mas el justo se la vestirá, Y el inocente repartirá la plata.

He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, And the innocent shall divide the silver.

18 E dificó su casa como la araña, Y como cabaña de ramas que hizo el guarda.

He buildeth his house as the moth, And as a booth which the keeper maketh.

19 R ico se acuesta, pero por última vez; Abrirá sus ojos, y nada tendrá.

He lieth down rich, but he shall not be gathered to his fathers; He openeth his eyes, and he is not.

20 S e apoderarán de él terrores como riada; Torbellino lo arrebatará de noche.

Terrors overtake him like waters; A tempest stealeth him away in the night.

21 S e lo lleva el solano, y se va; Y la tempestad lo arrebatará de su lugar.

The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth; And it sweepeth him out of his place.

22 D ios, pues, descargará sobre él sin piedad; Hará él por huir de su mano.

For God shall hurl at him, and not spare: He would fain flee out of his hand.

23 B atirán palmas en su huida, Y lo corearán con silbidos.

Men shall clap their hands at him, And shall hiss him out of his place.
