1 S e por estarmos em Cristo nós temos alguma motivação, alguma exortação de amor, alguma comunhão no Espírito, alguma profunda afeição e compaixão,

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 c ompletem a minha alegria, tendo o mesmo modo de pensar, o mesmo amor, um só espírito e uma só atitude.

fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 N ada façam por ambição egoísta ou por vaidade, mas humildemente considerem os outros superiores a si mesmos.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 C ada um cuide, não somente dos seus interesses, mas também dos interesses dos outros.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 S eja a atitude de vocês a mesma de Cristo Jesus,

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 q ue, embora sendo Deus, não considerou que o ser igual a Deus era algo a que devia apegar-se;

who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 m as esvaziou-se a si mesmo, vindo a ser servo, tornando-se semelhante aos homens.

but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 E , sendo encontrado em forma humana, humilhou-se a si mesmo e foi obediente até a morte, e morte de cruz!

and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 P or isso Deus o exaltou à mais alta posição e lhe deu o nome que está acima de todo nome,

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 p ara que ao nome de Jesus se dobre todo joelho, nos céus, na terra e debaixo da terra,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 e toda língua confesse que Jesus Cristo é o Senhor, para a glória de Deus Pai. Brilhando como Estrelas

and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 A ssim, meus amados, como sempre vocês obedeceram, não apenas na minha presença, porém muito mais agora na minha ausência, ponham em ação a salvação de vocês com temor e tremor,

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13 p ois é Deus quem efetua em vocês tanto o querer quanto o realizar, de acordo com a boa vontade dele.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

14 F açam tudo sem queixas nem discussões,

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15 p ara que venham a tornar-se puros e irrepreensíveis, filhos de Deus inculpáveis no meio de uma geração corrompida e depravada, na qual vocês brilham como estrelas no universo,

that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

16 r etendo firmemente a palavra da vida. Assim, no dia de Cristo eu me orgulharei de não ter corrido nem me esforçado inutilmente.

holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

17 C ontudo, mesmo que eu esteja sendo derramado como oferta de bebida sobre o serviço que provém da fé que vocês têm, o sacrifício que oferecem a Deus, estou alegre e me regozijo com todos vocês.

Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18 E stejam vocês também alegres, e regozijem-se comigo. Timóteo e Epafrodito

For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19 E spero no Senhor Jesus enviar-lhes Timóteo brevemente, para que eu também me sinta animado quando receber notícias de vocês.

But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

20 N ão tenho ninguém que, como ele, tenha interesse sincero pelo bem-estar de vocês,

For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

21 p ois todos buscam os seus próprios interesses e não os de Jesus Cristo.

For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

22 M as vocês sabem que Timóteo foi aprovado porque serviu comigo no trabalho do evangelho como um filho ao lado de seu pai.

But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

23 P ortanto, é ele quem espero enviar, tão logo me certifique da minha situação,

Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

24 c onfiando no Senhor que em breve também poderei ir.

But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.

25 C ontudo, penso que será necessário enviar-lhes de volta Epafrodito, meu irmão, cooperador e companheiro de lutas, mensageiro que vocês enviaram para atender às minhas necessidades.

Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

26 P ois ele tem saudade de todos vocês e está angustiado porque ficaram sabendo que ele esteve doente.

For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.

27 D e fato, ficou doente e quase morreu. Mas Deus teve misericórdia dele, e não somente dele, mas também de mim, para que eu não tivesse tristeza sobre tristeza.

For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

28 P or isso, logo o enviarei, para que, quando o virem novamente, fiquem alegres e eu tenha menos tristeza.

I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

29 E peço que vocês o recebam no Senhor com grande alegria e honrem homens como este,

Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:

30 p orque ele quase morreu por amor à causa de Cristo, arriscando a vida para suprir a ajuda que vocês não me podiam dar.

because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
