1 A leluia! Dêem graças ao Senhor porque ele é bom; o seu amor dura para sempre.

Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 Q uem poderá descrever os feitos poderosos do Senhor, ou declarar todo o louvor que lhe é devido?

Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord ? who can shew forth all his praise?

3 C omo são felizes os que perseveram na retidão, que sempre praticam a justiça!

Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

4 L embra-te de mim, Senhor, quando tratares com bondade o teu povo; vem em meu auxílio quando o salvares,

Remember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;

5 p ara que eu possa testemunhar o bem-estar dos teus escolhidos, alegrar-me com a alegria do teu povo, e louvar-te junto com a tua herança.

that I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

6 P ecamos como os nossos antepassados; fizemos o mal e fomos rebeldes.

We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

7 N o Egito, os nossos antepassados não deram atenção às tuas maravilhas; não se lembraram das muitas manifestações do teu amor leal e rebelaram-se junto ao mar, o mar Vermelho.

Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

8 C ontudo, ele os salvou por causa do seu nome, para manifestar o seu poder.

Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

9 R epreendeu o mar Vermelho, e este secou; ele os conduziu pelas profundezas como por um deserto.

He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

10 S alvou-os das mãos daqueles que os odiavam; das mãos dos inimigos os resgatou.

And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 A s águas cobriram os seus adversários; nenhum deles sobreviveu.

And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

12 E ntão creram nas suas promessas e a ele cantaram louvores.

Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

13 M as logo se esqueceram do que ele tinha feito e não esperaram para saber o seu plano.

They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

14 D ominados pela gula no deserto, puseram Deus à prova nas regiões áridas.

but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

15 D eu-lhes o que pediram, mas mandou sobre eles uma doença terrível.

And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

16 N o acampamento tiveram inveja de Moisés e de Arão, daquele que fora consagrado ao Senhor.

They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the Lord.

17 A terra abriu-se, engoliu Datã e sepultou o grupo de Abirão;

The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

18 f ogo surgiu entre os seus seguidores; as chamas consumiram os ímpios.

And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

19 E m Horebe fizeram um bezerro, adoraram um ídolo de metal.

They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

20 T rocaram a Glória deles pela imagem de um boi que come capim.

Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

21 E squeceram-se de Deus, seu Salvador, que fizera coisas grandiosas no Egito,

They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

22 m aravilhas na terra de Cam e feitos temíveis junto ao mar Vermelho.

wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

23 P or isso, ele ameaçou destruí-los; mas Moisés, seu escolhido, intercedeu diante dele, para evitar que a sua ira os destruísse.

Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

24 T ambém rejeitaram a terra desejável; não creram na promessa dele.

Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

25 Q ueixaram-se em suas tendas e não obedeceram ao Senhor.

but murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.

26 A ssim, de mão levantada, ele jurou que os abateria no deserto

Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

27 e dispersaria os seus descendentes entre as nações e os espalharia por outras terras.

to overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

28 S ujeitaram-se ao jugo de Baal-Peor e comeram sacrifícios oferecidos a ídolos mortos;

They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29 p rovocaram a ira do Senhor com os seus atos, e uma praga irrompeu no meio deles.

Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

30 M as Finéias se interpôs para executar o juízo, e a praga foi interrompida.

Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

31 I sso lhe foi creditado como um ato de justiça que para sempre será lembrado, por todas as gerações.

And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

32 P rovocaram a ira de Deus junto às águas de Meribá; e, por causa deles, Moisés foi castigado;

They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

33 r ebelaram-se contra o Espírito de Deus, e Moisés falou sem refletir.

because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

34 E les não destruíram os povos, como o Senhor tinha ordenado,

They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them:

35 e m vez disso, misturaram-se com as nações e imitaram as suas práticas.

but were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

36 P restaram culto aos seus ídolos, que se tornaram uma armadilha para eles.

And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

37 S acrificaram seus filhos e suas filhas aos demônios.

Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

38 D erramaram sangue inocente, o sangue de seus filhos e filhas sacrificados aos ídolos de Canaã; e a terra foi profanada pelo sangue deles.

and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

39 T ornaram-se impuros pelos seus atos; prostituíram-se por suas ações.

Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

40 P or isso acendeu-se a ira do Senhor contra o seu povo e ele sentiu aversão por sua herança.

Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

41 E ntregou-os nas mãos das nações, e os seus adversários dominaram sobre eles.

And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

42 O s seus inimigos os oprimiram e os subjugaram com o seu poder.

Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

43 E le os libertou muitas vezes, embora eles persistissem em seus planos de rebelião e afundassem em sua maldade.

Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

44 M as Deus atentou para o sofrimento deles quando ouviu o seu clamor.

Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

45 L embrou-se da sua aliança com eles, e arrependeu-se, por causa do seu imenso amor leal.

and he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

46 F ez com que os seus captores tivessem misericórdia deles.

He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

47 S alva-nos, Senhor, nosso Deus! Ajunta-nos dentre as nações, para que demos graças ao teu santo nome e façamos do teu louvor a nossa glória.

Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

48 B endito seja o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, por toda a eternidade. Que todo o povo diga: “Amém!” Aleluia!

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the Lord.
