1 P or tanto, si hay alguna consolación en Cristo, si algún consuelo de amor, si alguna comunión del Espíritu, si algún afecto entrañable, si alguna misericordia,

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 c ompleten mi gozo sintiendo lo mismo, teniendo el mismo amor, unánimes, sintiendo una misma cosa.

fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 N o hagan nada por contienda o por vanagloria. Al contrario, háganlo con humildad y considerando cada uno a los demás como superiores a sí mismo.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 N o busque cada uno su propio interés, sino cada cual también el de los demás.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Q ue haya en ustedes el mismo sentir que hubo en Cristo Jesús,

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 q uien, siendo en forma de Dios, no estimó el ser igual a Dios como cosa a que aferrarse,

who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 s ino que se despojó a sí mismo y tomó forma de siervo, y se hizo semejante a los hombres;

but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 y estando en la condición de hombre, se humilló a sí mismo y se hizo obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.

and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 P or lo cual Dios también lo exaltó hasta lo sumo, y le dio un nombre que es sobre todo nombre,

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 p ara que en el nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en los cielos, y en la tierra, y debajo de la tierra;

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es el Señor, para gloria de Dios el Padre. Luminares en el mundo

and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 P or tanto, amados míos, ya que siempre han obedecido, no sólo en mi presencia, sino mucho más ahora en mi ausencia, ocúpense en su salvación con temor y temblor,

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13 p orque Dios es el que produce en ustedes lo mismo el querer como el hacer, por su buena voluntad.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

14 H áganlo todo sin murmuraciones ni peleas,

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15 p ara que sean irreprensibles y sencillos, e intachables hijos de Dios en medio de una generación maligna y perversa, en medio de la cual ustedes resplandecen como luminares en el mundo,

that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

16 a ferrados a la palabra de vida, para que en el día de Cristo yo pueda gloriarme de que no he corrido ni trabajado en vano.

holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

17 Y aunque mi vida sea derramada en libación sobre el sacrificio y servicio de la fe de ustedes, me gozo y regocijo con todos ustedes.

Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18 Y asimismo, también ustedes gócense y regocíjense conmigo. Timoteo y Epafrodito

For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19 E spero en el Señor Jesús enviarles pronto a Timoteo, para que yo también pueda regocijarme al saber cómo se encuentran ustedes;

But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

20 p ues no tengo a nadie con ese mismo ánimo, y que con tanta sinceridad se interese por ustedes.

For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

21 P orque todos buscan su propio interés, y no lo que es de Cristo Jesús.

For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

22 P ero ya conocen los méritos de él, que ha servido conmigo en el evangelio como sirve un hijo a su padre.

But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

23 A sí que espero enviarlo a ustedes tan pronto vea yo cómo van mis asuntos,

Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

24 y confío en el Señor que yo también iré pronto a ustedes.

But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.

25 P ero consideré necesario enviarles a Epafrodito, mi hermano y colaborador y compañero de lucha, y además mensajero de ustedes y proveedor de mis necesidades,

Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

26 p orque él tenía grandes deseos de verlos a todos ustedes, y se angustió mucho al saber que ustedes se enteraron de su enfermedad.

For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.

27 A decir verdad, sí estuvo enfermo y a punto de morir; pero Dios tuvo misericordia de él, y no solamente de él, sino también de mí, para que yo no añadiera más tristeza a mis tristezas.

For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

28 A sí que lo he enviado con la mayor urgencia para que, al verlo de nuevo, ustedes puedan alegrarse y yo tener menos tristeza.

I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

29 R ecíbanlo en el Señor con todo gozo, y tengan en alta estima a los que son como él;

Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:

30 p orque por la obra de Cristo estuvo a punto de morir, y hasta arriesgó su vida por mí, para suplir el servicio que de ustedes me faltaba.

because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
