1 A brahán tomó otra mujer, cuyo nombre era Cetura.

Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

2 É sta le dio a luz a Zimram, Jocsán, Medán, Madián, Isbac y Súaj.

And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 J ocsán engendró a Sebá y a Dedán. Los hijos de Dedán fueron Asurim, Letusim y Leumim.

And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

4 L os hijos de Madián fueron Efa, Efer, Janoc, Abidá y Eldá. Todos estos fueron hijos de Cetura.

And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

5 Y Abrahán le dio a Isaac todo cuanto tenía.

And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

6 A los hijos de sus concubinas, Abrahán les dio regalos mientras todavía vivía, y los envió hacia el oriente, a la tierra oriental, lejos de su hijo Isaac. Muerte y sepultura de Abrahán

But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

7 A brahán llegó a vivir ciento setenta y cinco años,

And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

8 y murió en buena vejez, anciano y lleno de años. Exhaló el espíritu, y fue reunido a su pueblo.

Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

9 S us hijos Isaac e Ismael lo sepultaron en la cueva de Macpela, que fue heredad de Efrón hijo de Sojar, el hitita, y que está frente a Mamre,

And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

10 E sa heredad la compró Abrahán de los hititas, y allí fueron sepultados Abrahán y Sara, su mujer.

the field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 D espués de la muerte de Abrahán, Dios bendijo a su hijo Isaac, y éste se quedó a vivir junto al pozo «El que vive y me ve». Los descendientes de Ismael

And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai-roi.

12 É stos son los descendientes de Ismael, el hijo que Abrahán tuvo con Agar la egipcia, sierva de Sara.

Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, bare unto Abraham:

13 L os nombres de los hijos de Ismael, nombrados por orden de nacimiento, fueron: Nebayot, primogénito de Ismael; le siguieron Cedar, Adbel, Mibsán,

and these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

14 M isma, Duma, Massa,

and Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

15 H adar, Tema, Jetur, Nafís y Quedemá.

 Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

16 É stos son los hijos de Ismael, y sus nombres, en el orden de sus villas y campamentos: doce príncipes de sus pueblos.

these are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

17 I smael llegó a vivir ciento treinta y siete años. Después de eso exhaló el espíritu y murió, y fue reunido a su pueblo.

And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.

18 M urió en presencia de todos sus hermanos. Y los ismaelitas se asentaron desde Javilá hasta Shur, que cuando se viene de Asiria queda frente a Egipto. Nacimiento de Jacob y Esaú

And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

19 É stos son los descendientes de Isaac, hijo de Abrahán: Abrahán engendró a Isaac.

And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham begat Isaac:

20 I saac tenía cuarenta años cuando tomó por mujer a Rebeca, hija de Betuel, el arameo de Padán Aram, y hermana de Labán el arameo.

and Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.

21 I saac rogó al Señor por Rebeca, su mujer, porque era estéril; y el Señor escuchó sus ruegos, y ella concibió.

And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 P ero los hijos luchaban dentro de ella, así que ella dijo: «Si esto es así, ¿para qué estoy aquí?» Fue entonces a consultar al Señor;

And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the Lord.

23 y el Señor le respondió: «En tu seno hay dos naciones. Dos pueblos serán divididos desde tus entrañas; un pueblo será más fuerte que el otro, y el mayor servirá al menor.»

And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

24 C uando se cumplieron sus días para que diera a luz, resultó que en su vientre había gemelos.

And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25 E l primero en salir era rubio y todo velludo; y le pusieron por nombre Esaú.

And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

26 D espués salió su hermano, con la mano aferrada al talón de Esaú; y le pusieron por nombre Jacob. Isaac tenía sesenta años de edad cuando ella los dio a luz. Esaú vende su primogenitura

And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

27 L os niños crecieron, y Esaú fue un hombre de campo y un cazador experto; pero Jacob era un hombre tranquilo, que habitaba en tiendas.

And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

28 I saac amaba a Esaú, porque comía de lo que cazaba; pero Rebeca amaba a Jacob.

And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

29 C ierto día, Jacob preparó un guiso, y Esaú, que volvía del campo, cansado,

And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

30 l e dijo a Jacob: «Por favor, dame a comer de ese guiso rojo, que estoy muy cansado.» Por eso fue llamado Edom.

and Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

31 Y Jacob le respondió: «Pues véndeme hoy tu primogenitura.»

And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

32 E saú dijo: «¿Y para qué me sirve la primogenitura, si estoy a punto de morir?»

And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

33 J acob le dijo: «Pues júramelo hoy mismo.» Y Esaú le hizo un juramento a Jacob, y le vendió su primogenitura.

And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

34 E ntonces Jacob le dio a Esaú pan y el guiso de lentejas, y Esaú comió y bebió; luego se levantó y se fue. Así fue como Esaú menospreció la primogenitura.

Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
