1 » Así ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, acerca de Moab: »¡Ay de Nebo! ¡Ha sido derrotado y puesto en vergüenza! Quiriatayin ha sido conquistado; Misgab no supo qué hacer, y perdió el ánimo.

Against Moab thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.

2 N unca más se alabará a Moab, pues en Jesbón sus enemigos hicieron planes contra ella; decidieron ir y borrarla de entre las naciones. Y también tú, Madmena, serás eliminada; ¡la espada te perseguirá!

There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.

3 » ¡Se oye un clamor en Joronayin! ¡Hay mucha destrucción y gran quebrantamiento!

A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.

4 M oab ha quedado deshecha; puede oírse el clamor de sus pequeños.

Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

5 S e oye el llanto de los que suben a Luhit; los enemigos oyen gritar a los que bajan a Joronayin:

For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.

6 “ ¡Huyan, pónganse a salvo! ¡Sean como la retama del desierto!”

Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

7 T ú, Moab, confiaste en tus bienes y en tus tesoros, pero también serás conquistada, y Quemos será llevado en cautiverio, junto con sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes.

For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.

8 ¡ A todas tus ciudades llegará la destrucción! ¡Ninguna de ellas se librará! También el valle quedará asolado, y destruida la llanura, tal y como lo ha dicho el Señor.

And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the Lord hath spoken.

9 » ¡Denle alas a Moab, y que se vaya volando! Porque sus ciudades quedarán desiertas y totalmente deshabitadas.

Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.

10 ¡ Malditos sean los que no cumplan con lo que el Señor les ha ordenado hacer! ¡Malditos sean los que no empapen con sangre su espada!

Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.

11 » Moab ha estado en reposo desde su juventud. En reposo, como el vino sobre su sedimento. Nunca ha sido trasvasado de una vasija a otra, ni jamás ha estado en cautiverio. Por eso ha retenido su sabor, y no ha variado su aroma.

Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.

12 P or eso viene el día en que yo enviaré gente que lo trasvasará; y sus vasijas quedarán vacías, y sus odres serán despedazados. —Palabra del Señor.

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.

13 » Entonces Moab se avergonzará de Quemos, como la casa de Israel se avergonzó de haber confiado en Betel.

And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.

14 » ¿Cómo pueden decir ustedes que son hombres valientes, soldados aguerridos?

How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?

15 ¡ Si Moab ha sido destruido, sus ciudades han sido asoladas, y sus mejores jóvenes fueron llevados al matadero! —Palabra del Rey, cuyo nombre es el Señor de los ejércitos.

Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts.

16 » Cercana está la destrucción de Moab; muy pronto quedará en ruinas.

The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.

17 C ompadézcanse de él todos los que lo rodean; digan todos los que conocen su nombre: “¡Cómo se hizo pedazos tan recio cetro, tan hermoso báculo!”

All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!

18 » Tú, que habitas en Dibón, baja de tus gloriosas alturas y siéntate en la tierra seca, porque el destructor de Moab viene contra ti para destruir tus fortalezas.

Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds.

19 » Y tú, que habitas en Aroer, párate en el camino y observa; pregunta a los que van en retirada qué fue lo que sucedió.

O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?

20 ¡ Griten y hagan lamentos! ¡Hagan saber en Arnón que Moab ha sido destruido! Sí, Moab ha quedado en vergüenza, porque ha sido destruido.

Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,

21 » El juicio cayó sobre la tierra de la llanura. Cayó sobre Holón, Yahás y Mefagat;

and judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,

22 s obre Dibón, Nebo y Bet Diblatayin;

and upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth-diblathaim,

23 s obre Quiriatayin, Bet Gamul y Bet Megón;

and upon Kiriathaim, and upon Beth-gamul, and upon Beth-meon,

24 s obre Queriot y Bosra, y sobre todas las ciudades cercanas y lejanas de Moab.

and upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.

25 E l poder de Moab ha sido aniquilado; ¡su fuerza ha llegado a su fin! —Palabra del Señor.

The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the Lord.

26 » Moab se creyó superior al Señor. Pues ahora, ¡embriáguenlo, y dejen que se revuelque en su vómito! ¡Que se vuelva motivo de burla!

Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the Lord: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

27 P orque Moab también se burló de Israel. Cuando hablaba de los israelitas, se burlaba de ellos, como si los hubieran pillado robando.

For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.

28 » Habitantes de Moab, abandonen las ciudades y refúgiense en los peñascos. Hagan lo que las palomas, que hacen su nido en la entrada de las cuevas.

O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth.

29 B ien sabemos que Moab es muy soberbio; que su corazón es arrogante, orgulloso, engreído y altanero;

We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.

30 y yo conozco su furor. Pero de nada le servirá. Ningún provecho sacará de su jactancia. —Palabra del Señor.

I know his wrath, saith the Lord; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.

31 » Por eso voy a llorar por Moab; por todo Moab levantaré mi clamor; ¡guardaré luto por los habitantes de Quir Jeres!

Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kir-heres.

32 L loraré por ti, vid de Sibemá, como lloré por la ciudad de Jazer. Tus sarmientos cruzaron el mar y llegaron hasta el mar de Jazer, pero la destrucción alcanzó a tu cosecha y a tu vendimia.

O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.

33 E n los fértiles campos de Moab cesaron la alegría y el regocijo, pues yo hice que en sus lagares faltara el vino. Ya no cantan al pisar las uvas, ni tampoco lanzan gritos de alegría.

And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.

34 » El clamor de Jesbón llega hasta Eleale, y aun hasta Yahás, Soar, Joronayin y Eglat Selisiyá se escucha su voz; también el arroyo de Nimrín se ha secado.

From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.

35 Y o acabaré con todos los de Moab que ofrezcan sacrificios sobre los lugares altos, y con todos los que ofrezcan incienso a sus dioses. —Palabra del Señor.

Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the Lord, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.

36 » Por eso mi corazón resuena como flauta por la gente de Moab y de Quir Jeres, pues se han perdido todas sus riquezas.

Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kir-heres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished.

37 » Todos ellos andarán con la cabeza rapada y con la barba raída; todos ellos se harán heridas en las manos y se vestirán de luto.

For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.

38 T odo será llanto en las casas y en las calles de Moab, porque yo haré pedazos a Moab, como quien rompe una vasija mal hecha. —Palabra del Señor.

There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the Lord.

39 » ¡Que se oigan los lamentos! ¡Moab ha sido destrozado! ¡Moab volvió la espalda y fue avergonzado! ¡Moab es ahora objeto de horror y de escarnio para todos los que lo rodean!

They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.

40 » Así ha dicho el Señor: “Viene una nación contra Moab, como un águila que vuela con sus alas extendidas.

For thus saith the Lord; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.

41 S us ciudades y fortalezas serán conquistadas. Cuando llegue ese día, el corazón de los valientes de Moab parecerá el corazón de una mujer parturienta.”

Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

42 Y Moab será destruido y dejará de existir como pueblo, por haberse creído superior al Señor.

And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the Lord.

43 ¡ Miedo y hoyos y trampas les esperan a los habitantes de Moab! —Palabra del Señor.

Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the Lord.

44 » El que huya del miedo caerá en el hoyo, y el que escape del hoyo caerá en la trampa. “Todo esto lo traeré sobre Moab, en el año de su castigo.” —Palabra del Señor.

He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the Lord.

45 » Los que huyan, buscarán exhaustos protegerse en Jesbón, la otrora ciudad de Sijón; pero de allí saldrán llamas de fuego, y quemarán todo lo que aún quede de Moab, esa nación de gente revoltosa.

They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

46 ¡ Ay de ti, Moab! ¡Tu fin llegó, pueblo de Quemos! Tus hombres y tus mujeres son hechos prisioneros, y se les lleva al cautiverio.

Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.

47 P ero en el futuro haré volver a los cautivos de Moab.» —Palabra del Señor. Hasta aquí, la sentencia contra Moab.

Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith the Lord. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
