1 » El reino de los cielos es semejante al dueño de una finca, que salió por la mañana a contratar trabajadores para su viña.

For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

2 C onvino con ellos en que les pagaría el salario de un día, y los envió a su viña.

And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

3 C omo a las nueve de la mañana, salió y vio en la plaza a otros que estaban desocupados,

And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

4 y les dijo: “Vayan también ustedes a mi viña, y les pagaré lo que sea justo.” Y ellos fueron.

and said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

5 C erca del mediodía volvió a salir, y lo mismo hizo a las tres de la tarde,

Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

6 y cuando salió cerca de las cinco de la tarde halló a otros que estaban desocupados, y les dijo: “¿Por qué se han pasado todo el día aquí, sin hacer nada?”

And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

7 L e respondieron: “Es que nadie nos ha contratado.” Él les dijo: “Vayan también ustedes a la viña.”

They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

8 C uando llegó la noche, el dueño de la viña dijo a su mayordomo: “Llama a los trabajadores y págales su jornal. Comienza por los últimos y termina por los primeros.”

So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

9 L os que habían llegado cerca de las cinco de la tarde pasaron y cada uno recibió el salario de un día de trabajo.

And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

10 C uando pasaron los primeros, pensaron que recibirían más, pero cada uno de ellos recibió también el salario de un día de trabajo.

But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

11 A l recibirlo, comenzaron a murmurar contra el dueño de la finca.

And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

12 D ecían: “Estos últimos han trabajado una sola hora, y les has pagado lo mismo que a nosotros, que hemos soportado el cansancio y el calor del día.”

saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

13 E l dueño le dijo a uno de ellos: “Amigo mío, no te estoy tratando injustamente. ¿Acaso no te arreglaste conmigo por el salario de un día?

But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

14 É sa es tu paga. Tómala y vete. Si yo quiero darle a este último lo mismo que te doy a ti,

Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

15 ¿ no tengo el derecho de hacer lo que quiera con lo que es mío? ¿O acaso tienes envidia, porque yo soy bueno?”

Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

16 A sí que los primeros serán los últimos, y los últimos serán los primeros.» Nuevamente Jesús anuncia su muerte

So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

17 M ientras Jesús subía a Jerusalén, en el camino llevó aparte a sus doce discípulos, y les dijo:

And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

18 « Como pueden ver, ahora vamos camino a Jerusalén, y el Hijo del Hombre será entregado a los principales sacerdotes y a los escribas, y lo condenarán a muerte.

Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

19 L o entregarán a los no judíos, para que se burlen de él y lo azoten, y lo crucifiquen; pero al tercer día resucitará.» Petición de Santiago y de Juan

and shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

20 E n ese momento la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo se acercó con sus hijos a Jesús, y se postró ante él para pedirle algo.

Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

21 É l le dijo: «¿Qué es lo que quieres?» Ella le respondió: «Manda que en tu reino mis dos hijos se sienten, uno a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda.»

And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

22 J esús le respondió: «Ustedes no saben lo que piden. ¿Acaso pueden beber del mismo vaso del que yo he de beber?» Y ellos le dijeron: «Sí podemos.»

But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

23 É l les dijo: «A decir verdad, beberán de mi vaso; pero el sentarse a mi derecha y a mi izquierda no me corresponde concederlo, pues ya es de aquellos para quienes mi Padre lo ha preparado.»

And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

24 C uando los otros diez oyeron esto, se enojaron contra los dos hermanos.

And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

25 E ntonces Jesús los llamó y les dijo: «Como ustedes saben, los gobernantes de las naciones las dominan, y los poderosos les imponen su autoridad.

But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

26 P ero entre ustedes no debe ser así. Más bien, aquel de ustedes que quiera hacerse grande será su servidor;

But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27 y aquel de ustedes que quiera ser el primero, será su esclavo.

and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28 I miten al Hijo del Hombre, que no vino para ser servido, sino para servir y para dar su vida en rescate por muchos.» Dos ciegos reciben la vista

even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

29 C uando ellos salieron de Jericó, una gran multitud seguía a Jesús.

And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

30 J unto al camino estaban sentados dos ciegos que, al oír que Jesús pasaba, gritaron: «¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de nosotros!»

And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

31 L a gente los reprendía para que se callaran, pero ellos gritaban aún más: «¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de nosotros!»

And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

32 E ntonces Jesús se detuvo, llamó a los ciegos y les preguntó: «¿Qué quieren que les haga?»

And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?

33 E llos le dijeron: «Señor, ¡que se abran nuestros ojos!»

They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

34 J esús se compadeció de ellos y les tocó los ojos, y en ese mismo instante ellos recibieron la vista y lo siguieron.

So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
