1 A nte todo, exhorto a que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones y acciones de gracias por todos los hombres;

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 p or los reyes y por todos los que ocupan altos puestos, para que vivamos con tranquilidad y reposo, y en toda piedad y honestidad.

for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 P orque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador,

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 e l cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos y lleguen a conocer la verdad.

who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5 P orque hay un solo Dios, y un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres, que es Jesucristo hombre,

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6 e l cual se dio a sí mismo en rescate por todos, de lo cual se dio testimonio a su debido tiempo.

who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

7 P ara esto fui constituido predicador y apóstol (digo la verdad en Cristo, no miento), y maestro de los no judíos en la fe y la verdad.

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

8 P or tanto, quiero que los hombres oren en todas partes, y levanten manos santas, sin ira ni contienda.

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

9 Q uiero también que las mujeres se vistan con ropa decorosa, con pudor y modestia, y no con peinados ostentosos, ni con oro, ni perlas, ni vestidos costosos,

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10 s ino con buenas obras, como corresponde a las mujeres que profesan la piedad.

but (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

11 Q ue la mujer aprenda en silencio y con toda sujeción,

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12 p ues no permito que la mujer enseñe ni ejerza dominio sobre el hombre, sino que guarde silencio.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 P orque primero fue formado Adán, y después Eva;

For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 y el engañado no fue Adán, sino que la mujer, al ser engañada, incurrió en transgresión.

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15 P ero se salvará al engendrar hijos, si es que con modestia permanece en la fe, el amor y la santificación.

Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
