1 » Éstos son los mandamientos, estatutos y decretos que el Señor su Dios me ordenó que les enseñara, para que los pongan por obra en la tierra de la cual van a tomar posesión.

Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

2 P ara que todos los días de tu vida, tú, Israel, y tus hijos, y los hijos de tus hijos, teman al Señor su Dios y cumplan todos los estatutos y mandamientos que yo les mando cumplir, para que sus días sean prolongados.

that thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

3 O ye, Israel, y asegúrate de ponerlos por obra, para que te vaya bien en la tierra que fluye leche y miel, y te multipliques, tal y como el Señor y Dios de tus padres te lo ha prometido.

Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

4 » Oye, Israel: el Señor nuestro Dios, el Señor es uno.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 Y amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con todas tus fuerzas.

and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 E stas palabras que hoy te mando cumplir estarán en tu corazón,

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 y se las repetirás a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas cuando estés en tu casa, y cuando vayas por el camino, y cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

8 L as atarás en tu mano como una señal, y las pondrás entre tus ojos como frontales,

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

9 y las escribirás en los postes de tu casa, y en tus puertas. Exhortaciones a la obediencia

And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

10 » Cuando el Señor tu Dios te haya introducido en la tierra que juró dar a tus padres Abrahán, Isaac y Jacob, y te dé ciudades grandes y buenas que tú no edificaste,

And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,

11 y casas llenas de todo bien que tú no llenaste, y cisternas que tú no cavaste, y viñas y olivares que tú no plantaste, una vez que hayas comido y quedes satisfecho

and houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

12 t en cuidado de no olvidarte del Señor, que te sacó de Egipto, donde eras esclavo.

then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

13 A l Señor tu Dios temerás, y sólo a él servirás, y por su nombre jurarás.

Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

14 N o se irán ustedes tras dioses ajenos, tras los dioses de los pueblos que están en sus contornos,

Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;

15 p orque el Señor tu Dios está en medio de ti, y es un Dios celoso. No sea que el furor del Señor tu Dios se encienda contra ti, y te borre de esta tierra.

(for the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

16 » No tentarán al Señor su Dios, como lo hicieron en Masah.

Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

17 C umplan cuidadosamente los mandamientos, testimonios y estatutos que el Señor su Dios les ha ordenado cumplir.

Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

18 H az lo recto y lo bueno a los ojos del Señor, para que te vaya bien y entres y tomes posesión de la buena tierra que el Señor juró dar a tus padres,

And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers,

19 y para que él arroje de tu presencia a tus enemigos, tal y como el Señor lo ha dicho.

to cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the Lord hath spoken.

20 » El día de mañana, cuando tu hijo te pregunte: “¿Qué significan los testimonios y estatutos y decretos que el Señor nuestro Dios les mandó cumplir?”,

And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?

21 l e dirás: “En Egipto, éramos esclavos del faraón. Pero el Señor nos sacó de allá con mano poderosa.

Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

22 A nte nuestros propios ojos, el Señor realizó en Egipto grandes señales y milagros terribles contra el faraón y contra toda su casa.

and the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:

23 N os sacó de allá, para traernos aquí y darnos la tierra que juró dar a nuestros padres.

and he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

24 E l Señor nuestro Dios nos mandó cumplir todos estos estatutos, y temerlo, para que nos vaya bien siempre y él nos conserve la vida, como hasta el día de hoy.

And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

25 S i tenemos cuidado de poner por obra todos estos mandamientos delante del Señor nuestro Dios, como él nos lo ha mandado, tendremos justicia.”

And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.
