1 J esús estaba observando a los ricos que depositaban sus ofrendas en el arca del templo,

And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

2 y vio que una viuda muy pobre depositaba allí dos moneditas de poco valor.

And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3 E ntonces dijo: «En verdad les digo, que esta viuda pobre ha echado más que todos.

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

4 P orque todos aquellos ofrendaron a Dios de lo que les sobra, pero ella puso, en su pobreza, todo lo que tenía para su sustento.» Jesús predice la destrucción del templo

for all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

5 A lgunos hablaban de las hermosas piedras con las que el templo estaba adornado, y de las ofrendas dedicadas a Dios, así que Jesús les dijo:

And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

6 « En cuanto a lo que ustedes ven, vienen días en que no quedará piedra sobre piedra. Todo será destruido.» Señales antes del fin

As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

7 E ntonces le preguntaron: «Y esto, Maestro, ¿cuándo sucederá? ¿Y qué señal habrá cuando esto ya esté por suceder?»

And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

8 J esús les respondió: «Cuídense de no ser engañados. Porque muchos vendrán en mi nombre, y dirán: “Yo soy”, y también: “El tiempo está cerca.” Pero ustedes no los sigan.

And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

9 Y cuando oigan hablar de guerras y de levantamientos, no se alarmen, porque es necesario que esto suceda primero, pero el fin no llegará de manera repentina.»

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

10 T ambién les dijo: «Se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino.

Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

11 H abrá impresionantes terremotos, y hambre y pestilencias en diferentes lugares; también sucederán cosas espantosas y habrá grandes señales del cielo.

and great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

12 P ero antes de que todo esto suceda, a ustedes les echarán mano, los perseguirán, y los entregarán a las sinagogas y a las cárceles, y por causa de mi nombre los harán comparecer ante reyes y gobernantes.

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.

13 P ero esto les servirá para dar testimonio.

And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

14 P ropónganse en su interior no ponerse a pensar cómo responder en su defensa,

Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

15 p orque yo les daré las palabras y la sabiduría, las cuales no podrán resistir ni contradecir todos sus oponentes.

for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

16 U stedes serán entregados incluso por sus padres, hermanos, parientes y amigos, y a algunos de ustedes los matarán.

And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

17 P or causa de mi nombre, todo el mundo los odiará,

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.

18 p ero ustedes no perderán ni un solo cabello de su cabeza.

But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

19 T engan paciencia, que así ganarán sus almas.

In your patience possess ye your souls.

20 » Pero cuando vean a Jerusalén rodeada de ejércitos, sepan que su destrucción ha llegado.

And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21 E ntonces, los que estén en Judea, huyan a los montes; y los que estén en la ciudad, salgan de allí. Los que estén en los campos, no entren en la ciudad.

Then let them which are in Judæa flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

22 P orque esos días serán de retribución, para que se cumplan todas las cosas que están escritas.

For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 P ero ¡ay de las que en esos días estén embarazadas, o amamantando! Porque vendrá sobre la tierra una gran calamidad, y sobre este pueblo vendrá la ira.

But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

24 Y caerán a filo de espada, y serán llevados cautivos a todas las naciones; y Jerusalén será pisoteada por los paganos, hasta que se cumplan los tiempos que a ellos les esperan. La venida del Hijo del Hombre

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

25 » Habrá entonces señales en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas. En la tierra, la gente se angustiará y quedará confundida por causa del bramido del mar y de las olas.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

26 E l miedo y la expectación de las cosas que sobrevendrán en la tierra hará que los hombres desfallezcan, y los poderes celestiales se estremecerán.

men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

27 E ntonces verán al Hijo del Hombre venir en una nube, con poder y gran gloria.

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

28 C uando esto comience a suceder, anímense y levanten la cabeza, porque su redención estará cerca.»

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

29 T ambién les contó una parábola: «Fíjense en la higuera y en todos los árboles.

And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

30 C uando ustedes ven que brotan sus hojas, pueden saber que ya se acerca el verano.

when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

31 D e la misma manera, cuando ustedes vean que todo esto sucede, podrán saber que ya se acerca el reino de Dios.

So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

32 D e cierto les digo, que todo esto sucederá antes de que pase esta generación.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

33 E l cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

34 » Pero tengan cuidado de que su corazón no se recargue de glotonería y embriaguez, ni de las preocupaciones de esta vida, para que aquel día no les sobrevenga de repente.

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 P orque caerá como un lazo sobre todos los que habitan la faz de la tierra.

For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 P or lo tanto, manténganse siempre atentos, y oren para que se les considere dignos de escapar de todo lo que habrá de suceder, y de presentarse ante el Hijo del Hombre.»

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

37 D e día, Jesús enseñaba en el templo; de noche, se quedaba en el monte llamado de los Olivos.

And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

38 Y toda la gente acudía a él por la mañana, para escucharlo en el templo.

And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.
