The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

2 A brahán engendró a Isaac, Isaac a Jacob, y Jacob a Judá y a sus hermanos.

Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

3 J udá engendró con Tamar a Fares y a Zeraj, Fares a Esrón, y Esrón a Aram.

and Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

4 A ram engendró a Aminadab, Aminadab a Nasón, y Nasón a Salmón.

and Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;

5 S almón engendró con Rajab a Booz, Booz engendró con Rut a Obed, y Obed a Yesé.

and Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

6 Y esé engendró al rey David, y con la que fue mujer de Urías el rey David engendró a Salomón.

and Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

7 S alomón engendró a Roboán, Roboán a Abías, y Abías a Asa.

and Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;

8 A sa engendró a Josafat, Josafat a Jorán, y Jorán a Uzías.

and Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;

9 U zías engendró a Yotán, Yotán a Ajaz, y Ajaz a Ezequías.

and Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;

10 E zequías engendró a Manasés, Manasés a Amón, y Amón a Josías.

and Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

11 E n el tiempo de la deportación a Babilonia, Josías engendró a Jeconías y a sus hermanos.

and Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

12 D espués de la deportación a Babilonia, Jeconías engendró a Salatiel, y Salatiel a Zorobabel.

and after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;

13 Z orobabel engendró a Abiud, Abiud a Eliaquín, y Eliaquín a Azor.

and Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

14 A zor engendró a Sadoc, Sadoc a Aquín, y Aquín a Eliud.

and Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;

15 E liud engendró a Eleazar, Eleazar a Matán, Matán a Jacob;

and Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

16 y Jacob engendró a José, marido de María, de la cual nació Jesús, llamado el Cristo.

and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

17 D e manera que todas las generaciones, desde Abrahán hasta David, son catorce; desde David hasta la deportación a Babilonia, catorce; y desde la deportación a Babilonia hasta Cristo, catorce. Nacimiento de Jesucristo

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

18 E l nacimiento de Jesucristo fue así: María, la madre de Jesús, estaba comprometida con José, pero antes de unirse como esposos se encontró que ella había concebido del Espíritu Santo.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19 J osé, su marido, era un hombre justo y quiso dejarla secretamente, pues no quería denigrarla.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

20 M ientras José reflexionaba al respecto, un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños y le dijo: «José, hijo de David, no temas recibir a María, tu mujer, porque su hijo ha sido concebido por el Espíritu Santo.

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 M aría tendrá un hijo, a quien pondrás por nombre JESÚS, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados.»

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 T odo esto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo que el Señor dijo por medio del profeta:

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 « Una virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrás por nombre Emanuel, que significa: “Dios está con nosotros.”»

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24 C uando José despertó del sueño, hizo lo que el ángel del Señor le había mandado y recibió a su mujer,

Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25 p ero no la conoció hasta que dio a luz a su hijo primogénito. Y le puso por nombre JESÚS.

and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
