2 A braham zeugte Isaak. Isaak zeugte Jakob. Jakob zeugte Juda und seine Brüder.

Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

3 J uda zeugte Perez und Serah von Thamar. Perez zeugte Hezron. Hezron zeugte Ram.

and Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

4 R am zeugte Amminadab. Amminadab zeugte Nahesson. Nahesson zeugte Salma.

and Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;

5 S alma zeugte Boas von der Rahab. Boas zeugte Obed von der Ruth. Obed zeugte Jesse.

and Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

6 J esse zeugte den König David. Der König David zeugte Salomo von dem Weib des Uria.

and Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

7 S alomo zeugte Rehabeam. Rehabeam zeugte Abia. Abia zeugte Asa.

and Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;

8 A sa zeugte Josaphat. Josaphat zeugte Joram. Joram zeugte Usia.

and Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;

9 U sia zeugte Jotham. Jotham zeugte Ahas. Ahas zeugte Hiskia.

and Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;

10 H iskia zeugte Manasse. Manasse zeugte Amon. Amon zeugte Josia.

and Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

11 J osia zeugte Jechonja und seine Brüder um die Zeit der babylonischen Gefangenschaft.

and Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

12 N ach der babylonischen Gefangenschaft zeugte Jechonja Sealthiel. Sealthiel zeugte Serubabel.

and after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;

13 S erubabel zeugte Abiud. Abiud zeugte Eliakim. Eliakim zeugte Asor.

and Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

14 A sor zeugte Zadok. Zadok zeugte Achim. Achim zeugte Eliud.

and Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;

15 E liud zeugte Eleasar. Eleasar zeugte Matthan. Matthan zeugte Jakob.

and Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

16 J akob zeugte Joseph, den Mann Marias, von welcher ist geboren Jesus, der da heißt Christus.

and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

17 A lle Glieder von Abraham bis auf David sind vierzehn Glieder. Von David bis auf die Gefangenschaft sind vierzehn Glieder. Von der babylonischen Gefangenschaft bis auf Christus sind vierzehn Glieder.

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

18 D ie Geburt Christi war aber also getan. Als Maria, seine Mutter, dem Joseph vertraut war, fand sich's ehe er sie heimholte, daß sie schwanger war von dem heiligen Geist.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19 J oseph aber, ihr Mann, war fromm und wollte sie nicht in Schande bringen, gedachte aber, sie heimlich zu verlassen.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

20 I ndem er aber also gedachte, siehe, da erschien ihm ein Engel des HERRN im Traum und sprach: Joseph, du Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria, dein Gemahl, zu dir zu nehmen; denn das in ihr geboren ist, das ist von dem heiligen Geist.

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 U nd sie wird einen Sohn gebären, des Namen sollst du Jesus heißen; denn er wird sein Volk selig machen von ihren Sünden.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 D as ist aber alles geschehen, auf daß erfüllt würde, was der HERR durch den Propheten gesagt hat, der da spricht:

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 " Siehe, eine Jungfrau wird schwanger sein und einen Sohn gebären, und sie werden seinen Namen Immanuel heißen", das ist verdolmetscht: Gott mit uns.

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24 D a nun Joseph vom Schlaf erwachte, tat er, wie ihm des HERRN Engel befohlen hatte, und nahm sein Gemahl zu sich.

Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25 U nd er erkannte sie nicht, bis sie ihren ersten Sohn gebar; und hieß seinen Namen Jesus.

and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
