Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

2 D enn er ist mein Hort, meine Hilfe, meine Schutz, daß mich kein Fall stürzen wird, wie groß er ist.

He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

3 W ie lange stellt ihr alle einem nach, daß ihr ihn erwürget-als eine hängende Wand und zerrissene Mauer?

How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.

4 S ie denken nur, wie sie ihn dämpfen, fleißigen sich der Lüge; geben gute Worte, aber im Herzen fluchen sie. (Sela.)

They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

5 A ber sei nur stille zu Gott, meine Seele; denn er ist meine Hoffnung.

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

6 E r ist mein Hort, meine Hilfe und mein Schutz, daß ich nicht fallen werde.

He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

7 B ei Gott ist mein Heil, meine Ehre, der Fels meiner Stärke; meine Zuversicht ist auf Gott.

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

8 H offet auf ihn allezeit, liebe Leute, schüttet euer Herz vor ihm aus; Gott ist unsre Zuversicht. (Sela.)

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

9 A ber Menschen sind ja nichts, große Leute fehlen auch; sie wiegen weniger denn nichts, so viel ihrer ist.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

10 V erlasset euch nicht auf Unrecht und Frevel, haltet euch nicht zu solchem, das eitel ist; fällt euch Reichtum zu, so hänget das Herz nicht daran.

Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

11 G ott hat ein Wort geredet, das habe ich etlichemal gehört: daß Gott allein mächtig ist.

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

12 U nd du, HERR, bist gnädig und bezahlst einem jeglichen, wie er's verdient.

Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.
