1 P or que nos rejeitaste definitivamente, ó Deus? Por que se acende a tua ira contra as ovelhas da tua pastagem?

O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? Why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

2 L embra-te do povo que adquiriste em tempos passados, da tribo da tua herança, que resgataste, do monte Sião, onde habitaste.

Remember thy congregation, which thou hast gotten of old, Which thou hast redeemed to be the tribe of thine inheritance; And mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

3 V olta os teus passos para aquelas ruínas irreparáveis, para toda a destruição que o inimigo causou em teu santuário.

Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual ruins, All the evil that the enemy hath done in the sanctuary.

4 T eus adversários gritaram triunfantes bem no local onde te encontravas conosco, e hastearam suas bandeiras em sinal de vitória.

Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine assembly; They have set up their ensigns for signs.

5 P areciam homens armados com machados invadindo um bosque cerrado.

They seemed as men that lifted up Axes upon a thicket of trees.

6 C om seus machados e machadinhas esmigalharam todos os revestimentos de madeira esculpida.

And now all the carved work thereof They break down with hatchet and hammers.

7 A tearam fogo ao teu santuário; profanaram o lugar da habitação do teu nome.

They have set thy sanctuary on fire; They have profaned the dwelling-place of thy name by casting it to the ground.

8 D isseram no coração: “Vamos acabar com eles!” Queimaram todos os santuários do país.

They said in their heart, Let us make havoc of them altogether: They have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.

9 J á não vemos sinais miraculosos; não há mais profetas, e nenhum de nós sabe até quando isso continuará.

We see not our signs: There is no more any prophet; Neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.

10 A té quando o adversário irá zombar, ó Deus? Será que o inimigo blasfemará o teu nome para sempre?

How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?

11 P or que reténs a tua mão, a tua mão direita? Não fiques de braços cruzados! Destrói-os!

Why drawest thou back thy hand, even thy right hand? Pluck it out of thy bosom and consume them.

12 M as tu, ó Deus, és o meu rei desde a antigüidade; trazes salvação sobre a terra.

Yet God is my King of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth.

13 T u dividiste o mar pelo teu poder; quebraste as cabeças das serpentes das águas.

Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: Thou brakest the heads of the sea-monsters in the waters.

14 E smagaste as cabeças do Leviatã e o deste por comida às criaturas do deserto.

Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces; Thou gavest him to be food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

15 T u abriste fontes e regatos; secaste rios perenes.

Thou didst cleave fountain and flood: Thou driedst up mighty rivers.

16 O dia é teu, e tua também é a noite; estabeleceste o sol e a lua.

The day is thine, the night also is thine: Thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

17 D eterminaste todas as fronteiras da terra; fizeste o verão e o inverno.

Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: Thou hast made summer and winter.

18 L embra-te de como o inimigo tem zombado de ti, ó Senhor, como os insensatos têm blasfemado o teu nome.

Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O Jehovah, And that a foolish people hath blasphemed thy name.

19 N ão entregues a vida da tua pomba aos animais selvagens; não te esqueças para sempre da vida do teu povo indefeso.

Oh deliver not the soul of thy turtle-dove unto the wild beast: Forget not the life of thy poor for ever.

20 D á atenção à tua aliança, porque de antros de violência se enchem os lugares sombrios do país.

Have respect unto the covenant; For the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of violence.

21 N ão deixes que o oprimido se retire humilhado! Faze que o pobre e o necessitado louvem o teu nome.

Oh let not the oppressed return ashamed: Let the poor and needy praise thy name.

22 L evanta-te, ó Deus, e defende a tua causa; lembra-te de como os insensatos zombam de ti sem cessar.

Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: Remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee all the day.

23 N ão ignores a gritaria dos teus adversários, o crescente tumulto dos teus inimigos.

Forget not the voice of thine adversaries: The tumult of those that rise up against thee ascendeth continually.
