1 O Senhor é a minha luz e a minha salvação; de quem terei temor? O Senhor é o meu forte refúgio; de quem terei medo?

Jehovah is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

2 Q uando homens maus avançarem contra mim para destruir-me, eles, meus inimigos e meus adversários, é que tropeçarão e cairão.

When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, Even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

3 A inda que um exército se acampe contra mim, meu coração não temerá; ainda que se declare guerra contra mim, mesmo assim estarei confiante.

Though a host should encamp against me, My heart shall not fear: Though war should rise against me, Even then will I be confident.

4 U ma coisa pedi ao Senhor; é o que procuro: que eu possa viver na casa do Senhor todos os dias da minha vida, para contemplar a bondade do Senhor e buscar sua orientação no seu templo.

One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after; That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of Jehovah, And to inquire in his temple.

5 P ois no dia da adversidade ele me guardará protegido em sua habitação; no seu tabernáculo me esconderá e me porá em segurança sobre um rochedo.

For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion: In the covert of his tabernacle will he hide me; He will lift me up upon a rock.

6 E ntão triunfarei sobre os inimigos que me cercam. Em seu tabernáculo oferecerei sacrifícios com aclamações; cantarei e louvarei ao Senhor.

And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me. And I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto Jehovah.

7 O uve a minha voz quando clamo, ó Senhor; tem misericórdia de mim e responde-me.

Hear, O Jehovah, when I cry with my voice: Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8 A teu respeito diz o meu coração: Busque a minha face! A tua face, Senhor, buscarei.

When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; My heart said unto thee, Thy face, Jehovah, will I seek.

9 N ão escondas de mim a tua face, não rejeites com ira o teu servo; tu tens sido o meu ajudador. Não me desampares nem me abandones, ó Deus, meu salvador!

Hide not thy face from me; Put not thy servant away in anger: Thou hast been my help; Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 A inda que me abandonem pai e mãe, o Senhor me acolherá.

When my father and my mother forsake me, Then Jehovah will take me up.

11 E nsina-me o teu caminho, Senhor; conduze-me por uma vereda segura por causa dos meus inimigos.

Teach me thy way, O Jehovah; And lead me in a plain path, Because of mine enemies.

12 N ão me entregues ao capricho dos meus adversários, pois testemunhas falsas se levantam contra mim, respirando violência.

Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries: For false witnesses are risen up against me, And such as breathe out cruelty.

13 A pesar disso, esta certeza eu tenho: viverei até ver a bondade do Senhor na terra.

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah In the land of the living.

14 E spere no Senhor. Seja forte! Coragem! Espere no Senhor.

Wait for Jehovah: Be strong, and let thy heart take courage; Yea, wait thou for Jehovah.
