1 H irão, rei de Tiro, enviou a Davi uma delegação, que lhe trouxe toras de cedro, e também pedreiros e carpinteiros para lhe construírem um palácio.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

2 E ntão Davi teve certeza de que o Senhor o confirmara como rei de Israel e que estava fazendo prosperar o seu reino por amor de Israel, seu povo.

And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel's sake.

3 E m Jerusalém Davi tomou para si mais mulheres e gerou mais filhos e filhas.

And David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David begat more sons and daughters.

4 E stes são os nomes dos que lhe nasceram ali: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão,

And these are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5 I bar, Elisua, Elpalete,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,

6 N ogá, Nefegue, Jafia,

and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7 E lisama, Beeliada e Elifelete. Davi Derrota os Filisteus

and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8 Q uando os filisteus ficaram sabendo que Davi tinha sido ungido rei de todo o Israel, foram com todo o exército prendê-lo, mas Davi soube disso e saiu para enfrentá-los.

And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.

9 T endo os filisteus invadido o vale de Refaim,

Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

10 D avi perguntou a Deus: “Devo atacar os filisteus? Tu os entregarás nas minhas mãos?” O Senhor lhe respondeu: “Vá, eu os entregarei nas suas mãos”.

And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Jehovah said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thy hand.

11 E ntão Davi e seus soldados foram a Baal-Perazim, e Davi os derrotou e disse: “Assim como as águas de uma enchente causam destruição, pelas minhas mãos Deus destruiu os meus inimigos”. E aquele lugar passou a ser chamado Baal-Perazim.

So they came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and David said, God hath broken mine enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

12 C omo os filisteus haviam abandonado os seus ídolos ali, Davi ordenou que fossem queimados.

And they left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.

13 O s filisteus voltaram a atacar o vale;

And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.

14 d e novo Davi consultou Deus, que lhe respondeu: “Não ataque pela frente, mas dê a volta por trás deles e ataque-os em frente das amoreiras.

And David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Thou shalt not go up after them: turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry-trees.

15 A ssim que você ouvir um som de passos por cima das amoreiras, saia para o combate, pois este é o sinal de que Deus saiu à sua frente para ferir o exército filisteu”.

And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God is gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

16 E Davi fez como Deus lhe tinha ordenado, e eles derrotaram o exército filisteu por todo o caminho, desde Gibeom até Gezer.

And David did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

17 A ssim a fama de Davi espalhou-se por todas as terras, e o Senhor fez com que todas as nações o temessem.

And the fame of David went out into all lands; and Jehovah brought the fear of him upon all nations.
