1 E Hiram rey de Tiro envió embajadores a David, y madera de cedro, y albañiles y carpinteros, que le edificaran una casa.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

2 Y entendiendo David que el SEÑOR lo había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que había ensalzado su reino sobre su pueblo Israel,

And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel's sake.

3 t omó aun David mujeres en Jerusalén, y engendró David aun hijos e hijas.

And David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David begat more sons and daughters.

4 Y éstos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

And these are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5 I bhar, Elisúa, Elpelet,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,

6 N oga, Nefeg, Jafía,

and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7 E lisama, Beeliada y Elifelet.

and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8 ¶ Y oyendo los filisteos que David había sido ungido por rey sobre todo Israel, subieron todos los filisteos en busca de David. Y cuando David lo oyó, salió contra ellos.

And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.

9 Y vinieron los filisteos y se extendieron por el valle de Refaim.

Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

10 Y David consultó a Dios, diciendo: ¿Subiré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano? Y el SEÑOR le dijo: Sube, que yo los entregaré en tus manos.

And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Jehovah said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thy hand.

11 E ntonces subieron a Baal-perazim, y allí los hirió David. Dijo luego David: Dios ha partido mis enemigos por mi mano, como se parten las aguas. Por esto llamaron el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

So they came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and David said, God hath broken mine enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

12 Y dejaron allí sus dioses, y David dijo que los quemaran al fuego.

And they left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.

13 Y volviendo los filisteos a extenderse por el valle,

And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.

14 D avid volvió a consultar a Dios, y Dios le dijo: No subas tras ellos, sino rodéalos, para venir a ellos por delante de los morales;

And David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Thou shalt not go up after them: turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry-trees.

15 y cuando oyeres venir un estruendo por las copas de los morales, sal luego a la batalla; porque Dios saldrá delante de ti, y herirá el campamento de los filisteos.

And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God is gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

16 H izo, pues, David como Dios le mandó, e hirieron al ejército de los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Gezer.

And David did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

17 Y el nombre de David fue divulgado por todas aquellas tierras; y puso el SEÑOR el temor de David sobre todos los gentiles.

And the fame of David went out into all lands; and Jehovah brought the fear of him upon all nations.
