1 ¶ Y aconteció que en aquellos días los filisteos juntaron sus campos para pelear contra Israel. Y dijo Aquis a David: Sabe de cierto que has de salir conmigo a campaña, tú y los tuyos.

And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their hosts together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me in the host, thou and thy men.

2 Y David respondió a Aquis: Sabrás pues lo que hará tu siervo. Y Aquis dijo a David: Por tanto, te haré guarda de mi cabeza todos los días.

And David said to Achish, Therefore thou shalt know what thy servant will do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of my head for ever.

3 Y a Samuel había muerto, y todo Israel lo había lamentado, y le habían sepultado en Ramá, en su ciudad. Y Saúl había echado de la tierra los espiritistas y adivinos.

Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.

4 P ues cuando los filisteos se juntaron, vinieron y asentaron campamento en Sunem; y Saúl juntó a todo Israel, y asentaron campamento en Gilboa.

And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilboa.

5 Y cuando vio Saúl el campamento de los filisteos, temió, y se turbó su corazón en gran manera.

And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.

6 Y consultó Saúl al SEÑOR; pero el SEÑOR no le respondió, ni por sueños, ni por Urim, ni por profetas.

And when Saul inquired of Jehovah, Jehovah answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

7 ¶ Entonces Saúl dijo a sus criados: Buscadme alguna mujer espiritista, para que yo vaya a ella, y por medio de ella pregunte. Y sus criados le respondieron: He aquí hay una mujer en Endor que es espiritista.

Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at En-dor.

8 Y se disfrazó Saúl, y se puso otros vestidos, y se fue con dos hombres, y vinieron a aquella mujer de noche; y él dijo: Yo te ruego que me adivines por espiritismo, y me hagas subir a quien yo te dijere.

And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, Divine unto me, I pray thee, by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomsoever I shall name unto thee.

9 Y la mujer le dijo: He aquí tú sabes lo que Saúl ha hecho, cómo ha talado de la tierra las espiritistas y los adivinos; ¿por qué pues pones tropiezo a mi vida, para hacerme matar?

And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

10 E ntonces Saúl le juró por el SEÑOR, diciendo: Vive el SEÑOR, que ninguna iniquidad te vendrá por esto.

And Saul sware to her by Jehovah, saying, As Jehovah liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

11 L a mujer entonces dijo: ¿A quién te haré venir? Y él respondió: Hazme venir a Samuel.

Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

12 Y viendo la mujer a Samuel, clamó en alta voz, y habló aquella mujer a Saúl, diciendo:

And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.

13 ¿ Por qué me has engañado? que tú eres Saúl. Y el rey le dijo: No temas: ¿Qué has visto? Y la mujer respondió a Saúl: He visto dioses que suben de la tierra.

And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what seest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I see a god coming up out of the earth.

14 Y él le dijo: ¿Cuál es su forma? Y ella respondió: Un hombre anciano viene, cubierto de un manto. Saúl entonces entendió que era Samuel, y humillando el rostro a tierra, adoró.

And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a robe. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and did obeisance.

15 ¶ Y Samuel dijo a Saúl: ¿Por qué me has inquietado haciéndome venir? Y Saúl respondió: Estoy muy acongojado; pues los filisteos pelean contra mí, y Dios se ha apartado de mí, y no me responde más, ni por mano de profetas, ni por sueños; por esto te he llamado, para que me declares qué debo hacer.

And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

16 E ntonces Samuel dijo: ¿Y para qué me preguntas a mí, habiéndose apartado de ti el SEÑOR, y es tu enemigo?

And Samuel said, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing Jehovah is departed from thee, and is become thine adversary?

17 E l SEÑOR, pues, ¡ha hecho como habló por mi mano! Pues ha cortado el SEÑOR el reino de tu mano, y lo ha dado a tu compañero David.

And Jehovah hath done unto thee, as he spake by me: and Jehovah hath rent the kingdom out of thy hand, and given it to thy neighbor, even to David.

18 C omo tú no escuchaste la voz del SEÑOR, ni cumpliste el furor de su ira sobre Amalec, por eso el SEÑOR te ha hecho esto hoy.

Because thou obeyedst not the voice of Jehovah, and didst not execute his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath Jehovah done this thing unto thee this day.

19 Y el SEÑOR entregará a Israel también contigo en manos de los filisteos; y mañana estaréis conmigo, tú y tus hijos; y aun el campamento de Israel entregará el SEÑOR en manos de los filisteos.

Moreover Jehovah will deliver Israel also with thee into the hand of the Philistines; and to-morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: Jehovah will deliver the host of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines.

20 ¶ En aquel punto cayó Saúl en tierra cuan grande era, y tuvo gran temor por las palabras de Samuel; que no quedó en él esfuerzo ninguno, porque en todo aquel día y aquella noche no había comido pan.

Then Saul fell straightway his full length upon the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.

21 E ntonces la mujer vino a Saúl, y viéndole en gran manera turbado, le dijo: He aquí que tu criada ha escuchado tu voz, y he puesto mi alma en mi mano, y he oído las palabras que tú me has dicho.

And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thy handmaid hath hearkened unto thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.

22 T e ruego, pues, que tú también oigas la voz de tu sierva; pondré yo delante de ti un bocado de pan que comas, para que te esfuerces, y sigas tu camino.

Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thy handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.

23 Y él rehusó, diciendo: No comeré. Mas sus criados juntamente con la mujer le constriñeron, y él les escuchó. Se levantó, pues, del suelo, y se sentó sobre una cama.

But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, constrained him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.

24 Y aquella mujer tenía en su casa un ternero grueso, el cual mató luego; y tomó harina y la amasó, y coció de ella panes sin levadura.

And the woman had a fatted calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:

25 Y lo trajo delante de Saúl y de sus criados; y luego que comieron, se levantaron, y partieron aquella noche.

and she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
