1 ¶ Así mismo, hermanos, os hacemos saber la gracia de Dios que ha sido dada a las Iglesias de Macedonia;

Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God which hath been given in the churches of Macedonia;

2 q ue en grande prueba de tribulación, la abundancia de su gozo permaneció, y su profunda pobreza abundó en riquezas de su bondad.

how that in much proof of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

3 P orque conforme a sus fuerzas, (como yo testifico por ellos), y aun sobre sus fuerzas han sido liberales;

For according to their power, I bear witness, yea and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,

4 r ogándonos con muchas súplicas, que recibiéramos la gracia y la comunicación del ministerio que se hace para los santos.

beseeching us with much entreaty in regard of this grace and the fellowship in the ministering to the saints:

5 Y no como lo esperábamos, sino que a sí mismos se dieron primeramente al Señor, y luego a nosotros por la voluntad de Dios.

and this, not as we had hoped, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God.

6 D e tal manera que exhortamos a Tito, para que como comenzó antes, así también acabe esta gracia entre vosotros también.

Insomuch that we exhorted Titus, that as he made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace also.

7 ¶ Por tanto, como en todo abundáis, en fe, y en Palabra, y en ciencia, y en toda solicitud, y en vuestra caridad con nosotros, que también abundéis en esta gracia.

But as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all earnestness, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

8 N o hablo como quien manda, sino por experimentar la liberalidad de vuestra caridad por la solicitud de los otros.

I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.

9 P orque ya sabéis la gracia del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, que por amor de vosotros se hizo pobre, siendo rico; para que vosotros con su pobreza fuerais enriquecidos.

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich.

10 Y en esto doy mi consejo; porque esto os conviene a vosotros, que comenzasteis, no sólo a hacerlo, sino también a ser solícitos desde el año pasado.

And herein I give my judgment: for this is expedient for you, who were the first to make a beginning a year ago, not only to do, but also to will.

11 A hora pues, llevad también a cabo el hecho, para que como fue pronto el ánimo de la voluntad, así también sea en cumplirlo de lo que tenéis.

But now complete the doing also; that as there was the readiness to will, so there may be the completion also out of your ability.

12 P orque si primero hay la voluntad pronta, será acepta por lo que tiene, no por lo que no tiene.

For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according as a man hath, not according as he hath not.

13 P orque no digo esto para que haya para otros desahogo, y para vosotros apretura;

For I say not this that others may be eased and ye distressed;

14 s ino para que en este tiempo, por la equidad, vuestra abundancia supla la falta de los otros, para que también la abundancia de ellos otra vez supla vuestra falta, y haya igualdad;

but by equality: your abundance being a supply at this present time for their want, that their abundance also may become a supply for your want; that there may be equality:

15 c omo está escrito: El que recogió mucho, no tuvo más; y el que poco, no tuvo menos.

as it is written, He that gathered much had nothing over; and he that gathered little had no lack.

16 ¶ Pero gracias a Dios que dio la misma solicitud por vosotros en el corazón de Tito.

But thanks be to God, who putteth the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.

17 P ues a la verdad recibió la exhortación; mas estando también muy solícito, de su voluntad partió para ir a vosotros.

For he accepted indeed our exhortation; but being himself very earnest, he went forth unto you of his own accord.

18 Y enviamos juntamente con él al hermano cuya alabanza es en el Evangelio por todas las Iglesias;

And we have sent together with him the brother whose praise in the gospel is spread through all the churches;

19 y no sólo esto, sino que también fue ordenado por las Iglesias compañero de nuestra peregrinación para llevar esta gracia, que es administrada por nosotros y de vuestro pronto ánimo para gloria del mismo Señor.

and not only so, but who was also appointed by the churches to travel with us in the matter of this grace, which is ministered by us to the glory of the Lord, and to show our readiness:

20 E vitando que nadie nos vitupere en esta abundancia que ministramos;

Avoiding this, that any man should blame us in the matter of this bounty which is ministered by us:

21 p rocurando lo honesto no sólo delante del Señor, sino aun delante de los hombres.

for we take thought for things honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

22 E nviamos también con ellos a nuestro hermano, al cual muchas veces hemos experimentado diligente, pero ahora mucho más con la mucha confianza que tenemos en vosotros.

and we have sent with them our brother, whom we have many times proved earnest in many things, but now much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence which he hath in you.

23 E n cuanto a Tito, es mi compañero y coadjutor para con vosotros; o acerca de nuestros hermanos, que son apóstoles de las Iglesias, y la gloria del Cristo.

Whether any inquire about Titus, he is my partner and my fellow-worker to you-ward, or our brethren, they are the messengers of the churches, they are the glory of Christ.

24 M ostrad pues, para con ellos en la faz de las Iglesias la prueba de vuestra caridad, y de nuestro gloriarnos acerca de vosotros.

Show ye therefore unto them in the face of the churches the proof of your love, and of our glorying on your behalf.
