The Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.

2 C omorile obţinute prin înşelăciune nu folosesc la nimic, dar dreptatea salvează de la moarte.

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.

3 D omnul nu va lăsa pe cel drept să sufere de foame, dar El îndepărtează pofta celor răi.

Jehovah suffereth not the soul of the righteous to famish; but he repelleth the craving of the wicked.

4 M âinile leneşe aduc sărăcie unui om, dar mâinile harnice îl îmbogăţesc.

He cometh to want that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

5 C ine strânge vara este un fiu înţelept, dar cine doarme în timpul secerişului este un fiu care aduce ruşine.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

6 P e capul celui drept sunt binecuvântări, dar gura celor răi ascunde violenţă.

Blessings are upon the head of a righteous; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.

7 A mintirea celui drept este binecuvântată, dar numele celor răi va putrezi.

The memory of the righteous shall be blessed; but the name of the wicked shall rot.

8 C ine are o inimă înţeleaptă primeşte poruncile, dar pălăvrăgeala nebunului duce la ruină.

The wise in heart receiveth commandments; but a prating fool shall fall.

9 C ine umblă în integritate merge în siguranţă, dar cine apucă pe căi strâmbe va fi descoperit.

He that walketh in integrity walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

10 C ine clipeşte răutăcios din ochi provoacă întristare, iar pălăvrăgeala nebunului duce la ruină.

He that winketh with the eye causeth grief, and a prating fool shall fall.

11 G ura celui drept este un izvor de viaţă, dar gura celor răi ascunde violenţă.

The mouth of a righteous is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.

12 U ra provoacă certuri, dar dragostea acoperă toate greşelile.

Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all transgressions.

13 P e buzele omului priceput se găseşte înţelepciune, dar nuiaua este pentru spinarea celui fără minte.

In the lips of an intelligent wisdom is found; but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

14 Î nţelepţii păstrează cunoştinţa, dar gura nebunilor atrage ruina.

The wise lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the fool is near destruction.

15 A verea este o cetate întărită pentru cel bogat, iar lipsa este ruina celor săraci.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 C âştigul celui drept este folosit pentru viaţă, dar venitul celui rău este folosit pentru păcat.

The labour of a righteous to life; the revenue of a wicked, to sin.

17 C ine ia seama la disciplinare este pe calea către viaţă, dar cine ignoră corectarea se rătăceşte.

Keeping instruction is the path to life; but he that forsaketh reproof goeth astray.

18 C ine ascunde ura are buze mincinoase, şi oricine răspândeşte bârfa este un prost.

He that covereth hatred hath lying lips, and he that sendeth forth a slander is a fool.

19 Î n mulţimea de cuvinte păcatul nu lipseşte, dar cel ce-şi ţine în frâu buzele este chibzuit.

In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that restraineth his lips doeth wisely.

20 L imba celui drept este argint ales, dar inima celui rău este de mică valoare.

The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the heart of the wicked is little worth.

21 B uzele celui drept hrănesc pe mulţi, dar proştii mor din lipsă de judecată.

The lips of a righteous feed many; but fools die for want of understanding.

22 B inecuvântarea Domnului îmbogăţeşte şi El nu adaugă nici un necaz la ea.

The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow to it.

23 P entru cel prost este o plăcere să facă răul, dar omul priceput îşi găseşte plăcerea în înţelepciune.

It is as sport to a foolish to do wickedness; but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

24 C elui rău, de ceea ce se teme, aceea i se va întâmpla, dar celor drepţi li se va împlini dorinţa.

The fear of a wicked, it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25 C ând trece furtuna, cel rău nu mai este, dar cel drept este o temelie veşnică.

As a whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

26 C a oţetul pentru dinţi şi ca fumul pentru ochi, aşa este leneşul pentru cei ce-l trimit.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

27 F rica de Domnul prelungeşte zilele, dar anii celui rău vor fi scurtaţi.

The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 N ădejdea celor drepţi este bucurie, dar speranţa celor răi va pieri.

The hope of the righteous is joy; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 C alea Domnului este un refugiu pentru cel integru, dar este o ruină pentru cei ce fac răul.

The way of Jehovah is strength to the perfect, but destruction to the workers of iniquity.

30 C el drept nu va fi dezrădăcinat niciodată, dar cei răi nu vor locui în ţară.

The righteous shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.

31 G ura celui drept aduce înţelepciune, dar limba care vorbeşte lucruri stricate va fi nimicită.

The mouth of a righteous putteth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

32 B uzele celui drept ştiu ce este potrivit, dar gura celor răi spune numai lucruri stricate.

The lips of a righteous know what is acceptable; but the mouth of the wicked is frowardness.
