1 D upă aceea, David i-a învins pe filisteni, i-a supus şi a luat din stăpânirea filistenilor cetatea Meteg-Ama.

And after this it came to pass that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them; and David took the power of the capital out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 A poi i-a învins şi pe moabiţi. Pe aceştia i-a culcat la pământ şi i-a măsurat cu o funie; cei cuprinşi în două lungimi de funie erau omorâţi, iar cei cuprinşi în a treia lungime erau lăsaţi în viaţă. Moabiţii i-au fost supuşi lui David, plătindu-i tribut.

And he smote the Moabites, and measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became David's servants, brought gifts.

3 D avid l-a învins şi pe Hadad-Ezer, fiul lui Rehob, regele Ţobei, când acesta s-a dus să-şi redobândească stăpânirea la râul Eufrat.

And David smote Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion by the river Euphrates.

4 D avid a capturat de la el o mie de care, şapte sute de călăreţi şi douăzeci de mii de pedestraşi. David a tăiat tendoanele tuturor cailor de la care, cruţând din ei doar atâţia cât pentru o sută de care.

And David took from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David houghed all the chariot, but reserved of them a hundred chariots.

5 A rameii din Damasc au venit în ajutorul lui Hadad-Ezer, regele Ţobei, însă David a omorât douăzeci şi două de mii dintre ei.

And the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David smote of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.

6 D avid a pus garnizoane în regatul arameu al Damascului, iar arameii i-au fost supuşi lui David, plătindu-i tribut. Domnul îi dădea biruinţă lui David oriunde mergea.

And David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, brought gifts. And Jehovah preserved David whithersoever he went.

7 D avid a luat scuturile de aur ale slujitorilor lui Hadad-Ezer şi le-a adus la Ierusalim,

And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8 i ar din Tebah şi din Berotai, cetăţile lui Hadad-Ezer, regele David a luat foarte mult bronz.

And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much bronze.

9 C ând Toi, regele Hamatului, a aflat că David a învins întreaga oştire a lui Hadad-Ezer,

And Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the forces of Hadadezer;

10 l -a trimis pe fiul său Ioram la regele David ca să-l întrebe de sănătate şi să-l laude pentru că s-a luptat cu Hadad-Ezer, cu care şi el era în război, şi pentru că l-a biruit. Ioram a adus cu el lucruri din argint, din aur şi din bronz.

and Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him; for Hadadezer was continually at war with Toi. And he brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze.

11 R egele David le-a închinat şi pe acestea Domnului, aşa cum făcuse cu argintul şi cu aurul luat de la toate celelalte popoare pe care le-a supus:

Them also king David dedicated to Jehovah, with the silver and the gold that he had dedicated of all the nations that he had subdued:

12 d e la Edom, de la Moab, de la amoniţi, de la filisteni şi de la Amalek, precum şi din prada luată de la Hadad-Ezer, fiul lui Rehob, regele Ţobei.

of the Syrians, and of the Moabites, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of the Amalekites, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 A stfel, David şi-a făcut un nume. La întoarcere a ucis optsprezece mii de edomiţi în Valea Sării.

And David made him a name when he returned, after he had smitten the Syrians in the valley of salt, eighteen thousand.

14 E l a pus garnizoane în Edom; pe tot teritoriul edomiţilor el a pus garnizoane şi toţi edomiţii au devenit supuşii lui David. Domnul îi dădea biruinţă lui David oriunde mergea. Funcţionarii lui David

And he put garrisons in Edom: throughout Edom did he put garrisons; and all they of Edom became servants to David. And Jehovah preserved David whithersoever he went.

15 D avid domnea peste întregul Israel, judecând şi făcând dreptate întregului popor.

And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice to all his people.

16 I oab, fiul Ţeruiei, era conducătorul oştirii; Iehoşafat, fiul lui Ahilud, era cronicar;

And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was chronicler;

17 Ţ adok, fiul lui Ahitub, şi Ahimelek, fiul lui Abiatar, erau preoţi; Seraia era scrib;

and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was scribe;

18 B enaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, era conducătorul cheretiţilor şi al peletiţilor, iar fiii lui David erau cei dintâi pe lângă rege.

and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.
