1 L a început, Dumnezeu a creat cerurile şi pământul.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 P ământul era pustiu şi gol; peste faţa adâncului era întuneric, iar Duhul lui Dumnezeu plutea peste întinderea apelor.

And the earth was waste and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 A tunci Dumnezeu a zis: „Să fie lumină!“; şi a fost lumină.

And God said, Let there be light. And there was light.

4 D umnezeu a văzut că lumina era bună şi a despărţit lumina de întuneric.

And God saw the light that it was good; and God divided between the light and the darkness.

5 D umnezeu a numit lumina „zi“, iar întunericul l-a numit „noapte“. A fost o seară şi a fost o dimineaţă: ziua întâi.

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

6 D umnezeu a zis: „Să fie o boltă cerească în mijlocul apelor, care să despartă apele de ape!“

And God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it be a division between waters and waters.

7 A stfel, Dumnezeu a făcut bolta şi a despărţit apele care sunt sub boltă de apele care sunt deasupra ei. Şi aşa a şi fost.

And God made the expanse, and divided between the waters that are under the expanse and the waters that are above the expanse; and it was so.

8 D umnezeu a numit bolta „cer“. A fost o seară şi a fost o dimineaţă: ziua a doua.

And God called the expanse Heavens. And there was evening, and there was morning—a second day.

9 D umnezeu a zis: „Să se adune la un loc apele care sunt sub cer şi să apară uscatul!“ Şi aşa a şi fost.

And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together to one place, and let the dry appear. And it was so.

10 D umnezeu a numit uscatul „pământ“, iar apele care au fost adunate la un loc, le-a numit „mări“. Dumnezeu a văzut că acest lucru era bun.

And God called the dry Earth, and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

11 A tunci Dumnezeu a zis: „Să dea pământul vegetaţie: plante care să facă sămânţă şi pomi fructiferi care să dea rod cu sămânţă în el, potrivit soiului lor!“ Şi aşa a şi fost.

And God said, Let the earth cause grass to spring up, herb producing seed, fruit-trees yielding fruit after their kind, the seed of which is in them, on the earth. And it was so.

12 P ământul a dat vegetaţie: plante care fac sămânţă potrivit soiului lor şi pomi care dau rod cu sămânţă în el, potrivit soiului lor. Dumnezeu a văzut că acest lucru era bun.

And the earth brought forth grass, herb producing seed after its kind, and trees yielding fruit, the seed of which is in them, after their kind. And God saw that it was good.

13 A fost o seară şi a fost o dimineaţă: ziua a treia.

And there was evening, and there was morning—a third day.

14 D umnezeu a zis: „Să fie nişte luminători pe bolta cerului, care să despartă ziua de noapte; ei să fie semne care să arate anotimpurile, zilele şi anii

And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens, to divide between the day and the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;

15 ş i să slujească drept luminători pe bolta cerului, ca să dea lumină pământului!“ Şi aşa a şi fost.

and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens, to give light on the earth. And it was so.

16 D umnezeu a făcut cei doi luminători mari: luminătorul cel mare, care să stăpânească ziua, şi luminătorul cel mic, care să stăpânească noaptea; a făcut, de asemenea, şi stelele.

And God made the two great lights, the great light to rule the day, and the small light to rule the night,—and the stars.

17 D umnezeu i-a aşezat pe bolta cerului, ca să dea lumină pământului,

And God set them in the expanse of the heavens, to give light on the earth,

18 s ă stăpânească ziua şi noaptea şi să despartă lumina de întuneric. Dumnezeu a văzut că acest lucru era bun.

and to rule during the day and during the night, and to divide between the light and the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

19 A fost o seară şi a fost o dimineaţă: ziua a patra.

And there was evening, and there was morning—a fourth day.

20 D umnezeu a zis: „Să mişune apele de vieţuitoare şi să zboare păsări pe bolta cerului, deasupra pământului!“

And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living souls, and let fowl fly above the earth in the expanse of the heavens.

21 A stfel, Dumnezeu a făcut creaturile cele mari din ape, toate vieţuitoarele care se mişcă şi de care mişună apele, potrivit felurilor lor şi toate păsările înaripate, potrivit felurilor lor. Dumnezeu a văzut că acest lucru era bun.

And God created the great sea monsters, and every living soul that moves with which the waters swarm, after their kind, and every winged fowl after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

22 D umnezeu le-a binecuvântat zicând: „Fiţi roditoare, înmulţiţi-vă şi umpleţi apele mărilor; să se înmulţească şi păsările pe pământ!“

And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply on the earth.

23 A fost o seară şi a fost o dimineaţă: ziua a cincea.

And there was evening, and there was morning—a fifth day.

24 D umnezeu a zis: „Să dea pământul vieţuitoare, potrivit felurilor lor: vite, animale mici şi animale sălbatice, fiecare potrivit felurilor lor!“ Şi aşa a şi fost.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth living souls after their kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth, after their kind. And it was so.

25 D umnezeu a făcut animalele sălbatice, potrivit felurilor lor, vitele, potrivit felurilor lor şi toate animalele mici care mişună pe pământ, potrivit felurilor lor. Dumnezeu a văzut că acest lucru era bun.

And God made the beast of the earth after its kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing of the ground after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 A tunci Dumnezeu a zis: „Să facem om după chipul Nostru, după asemănarea Noastră; ei să domnească peste peştii mării, peste păsările cerului, peste vite, peste tot pământul şi peste toate animalele mici care mişună pe pământ!“

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over the whole earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth on the earth.

27 A stfel, Dumnezeu l-a creat pe om după chipul Său, după chipul lui Dumnezeu l-a creat; bărbat şi femeie i-a creat.

And God created Man in his image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 D umnezeu i-a binecuvântat şi le-a zis: „Fiţi roditori şi înmulţiţi-vă, umpleţi pământul şi supuneţi-l; domniţi peste peştii mării, peste păsările cerului şi peste toate vieţuitoarele care mişună pe pământ!“

And God blessed them; and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heavens, and over every animal that moveth on the earth.

29 A poi Dumnezeu a zis: „V-am dat toate plantele care fac sămânţă şi care se află pe tot pământul şi toţi pomii care fac fructe cu sămânţă în ele, ca să le aveţi pentru hrană.

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb producing seed that is on the whole earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree producing seed: it shall be food for you;

30 T uturor animalelor pământului, tuturor păsărilor cerului şi tuturor animalelor mici care mişună pe pământ, care au suflare de viaţă în ele, le- am dat ca hrană toate plantele verzi.“ Şi aşa a şi fost.

and to every animal of the earth, and to every fowl of the heavens, and to everything that creepeth on the earth, in which is a living soul, every green herb for food. And it was so.

31 D umnezeu s-a uitat la tot ce a făcut şi toate erau foarte bune. A fost o seară şi a fost o dimineaţă: ziua a şasea.

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
