1 Î n luna a cincea a aceluiaşi an, anul al patrulea, la începutul domniei lui Zedechia, regele lui Iuda, profetul Hanania, fiul lui Azur, care era din Ghivon, mi-a zis în Casa Domnului, în faţa preoţilor şi a întregului popor:

And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet, who was of Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of Jehovah, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,

2 – Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: „Voi sfărâma jugul împăratului Babilonului.

Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

3 P este doi ani voi aduce înapoi în locul acesta toate uneltele Casei Domnului pe care le-a luat de aici Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi le-a dus în Babilon.

Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of Jehovah's house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried to Babylon;

4 Î l voi aduce înapoi în locul acesta pe Iehoiachin, fiul lui Iehoiachim, regele lui Iuda, şi pe toţi exilaţii lui Iuda care au fost duşi în Babilon, zice Domnul, căci voi sfărâma jugul împăratului Babilonului.“

and I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah that went to Babylon, saith Jehovah: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

5 A tunci profetul Ieremia a răspuns profetului Hanania în faţa întregului popor prezent în Casa Domnului.

And the prophet Jeremiah spoke unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of Jehovah.

6 P rofetul Ieremia a zis: – Amin! Aşa să facă Domnul! Să împlinească Domnul cuvintele pe care le-ai profeţit şi să aducă înapoi din Babilon în locul acesta toate uneltele Casei Domnului şi pe toţi exilaţii.

And the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen, may Jehovah do so! may Jehovah perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again from Babylon, into this place, the vessels of Jehovah's house, and all them of the captivity!

7 T otuşi ascultă cuvântul acesta pe care-l rostesc în auzul tău şi în auzul întregului popor.

Nevertheless, hear, I pray thee, this word which I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people:

8 D in vechime profeţii care au fost înaintea mea şi înaintea ta au profeţit război, nenorocire şi molimă împotriva multor ţări şi a multor împărăţii.

The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old, prophesied also concerning many countries and concerning great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.

9 P rin urmare, profetul care profeţeşte pacea va fi recunoscut ca fiind trimis de Domnul doar dacă se vor împlini cuvintele profeţiei lui.

The prophet that prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, shall be known as the prophet whom Jehovah hath really sent.

10 A tunci profetul Hanania a luat jugul de pe gâtul profetului Ieremia, l-a sfărâmat

And the prophet Hananiah took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and broke it.

11 ş i a zis înaintea întregului popor: – Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: „Aşa voi sfărâma jugul lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, peste doi ani de pe gâtul tuturor popoarelor.“ Profetul Ieremia a plecat.

And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: So will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon within two full years from off the neck of all the nations. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

12 D upă ce profetul Hanania a sfărâmat jugul de pe gâtul profetului Ieremia, Cuvântul Domnului i-a vorbit lui Ieremia astfel:

And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, after that the prophet Hananiah had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

13 „ Du-te şi spune-i lui Hanania: «Ai sfărâmat un jug de lemn, zice Domnul, dar în locul lui ai făcut un jug de fier!

Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Thou hast broken the yokes of wood, and thou hast made in their place yokes of iron.

14 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: am pus un jug de fier pe gâtul tuturor acestor neamuri ca să slujească lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi-i vor sluji. Chiar şi fiarele câmpului i le-am dat ca să-i slujească.»“

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.

15 P rofetul Ieremia i-a mai zis profetului Hanania: „Ascultă, Hanania! Nu Domnul te-a trimis, ci tu faci poporul acesta să se încreadă într-o minciună.

And the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah, Hear now, Hananiah: Jehovah hath not sent thee; and thou makest this people to trust in falsehood.

16 D e aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Iată, te voi alunga de pe faţa pământului şi vei muri chiar anul acesta, căci cuvintele tale sunt o răzvrătire împotriva Domnului.»“

Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, for thou hast spoken revolt against Jehovah.

17 H anania a murit chiar în anul acela, în luna a şaptea.

And the prophet Hananiah died in the same year in the seventh month.
