The sons of Judah: Pherez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

2 L ui Reaia, fiul lui Şobal, i s-a născut Iahat, iar lui Iahat – Ahumai şi Lahad. Aceştia au alcătuit clanurile ţoratiţilor.

And Reaiah the son of Shobal begot Jahath; and Jahath begot Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zoreathites.

3 F iii lui Etam au fost: Izreel, Işma şi Idbaş. Sora lor se numea Haţlel-Poni.

And these the father of Etam: Jizreel, and Jishma, and Jidbash; and the name of their sister was Hazlelponi;

4 P enuel a fost tatăl lui Ghedor, Ezer a fost tatăl lui Huşa. Aceştia au fost urmaşii lui Hur, întâiul născut al lui Efrata şi tatăl lui Betleem.

and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah: these were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah, father of Bethlehem.

5 A şhur, tatăl lui Tekoa, a avut două soţii: Hela şi Naara.

—And Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

6 N aara i-a născut pe Ahuzam, pe Hefer, pe Temeni şi pe Ahaştari. Aceştia au fost fiii născuţi de Naara.

And Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Ahashtari: these were the sons of Naarah.

7 F iii Helei au fost: Ţeret, Ţohar şi Etnan.

And the sons of Helah: Zereth, and Zohar, and Ethnan.

8 D in Coţ provin Anub, Haţoveva şi clanurile lui Aharhel, fiul lui Harum.

And Koz begot Anub, and Hazzobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.

9 I abeţ a fost mai renumit decât fraţii săi. Mama lui îl numise Iabeţ, zicând: „L-am născut cu mari dureri.“

And Jabez was more honoured than his brethren; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bore him with pain.

10 I abeţ L-a chemat pe Dumnezeul lui Israel, zicând: „Oh, de m-ai binecuvânta şi mi-ai lărgi hotarele! Fie mâna Ta cu mine şi păzeşte-mă de rău ca să nu ajung în durere!“ Şi Dumnezeu i-a dat ceea ce ceruse.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, Oh that thou wouldest richly bless me, and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God brought about what he had requested.

11 L ui Chelub, fratele lui Şuha, i s-a născut Mehir, care a fost tatăl lui Eşton.

And Chelub the brother of Shuah begot Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.

12 L ui Eşton i s-a născut Bet-Rafa, Paseah şi Tehina, întemeietorul cetăţii Nahaş. Aceştia sunt bărbaţii care provin din Reca.

And Eshton begot Bethrapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of the city of Nahash: these were the men of Rechah.

13 F iii lui Chenaz au fost Otniel şi Seraia. Fiii lui Otniel au fost Hatat şi Meonotai.

—And the sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah; and the sons of Othniel: Hathath.

14 L ui Meonotai i s-a născut Ofra, iar lui Seraia – Ioab, întemeietorul Văii Meşteşugarilor, căci erau meşteşugari.

And Meonothai begot Ophrah: and Seraiah begot Joab, the father of the valley of craftsmen; for they were craftsmen.

15 F iii lui Caleb, fiul lui Iefune, au fost: Iru, Ela şi Naam. Fiul lui Ela a fost Chenaz.

—And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah, … and Kenaz.

16 F iii lui Iehalel-El au fost: Zif, Zifa, Tiria şi Asarel.

—And the sons of Jehalleleel: Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria and Asareel.

17 F ii lui Ezra au fost: Ieter, Mered, Efer şi Ialon. Una din soţiile lui Mered i-a născut pe Miriam, pe Şamai şi pe Işbah, tatăl lui Eştemoa.

—And the sons of Ezra: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and she conceived Miriam, and Shammai, and Jishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

18 ( Soţia lui iudeică îi născuse pe Iered, tatăl lui Ghedor, pe Heber, tatăl lui Soco, şi pe Iekutiel, tatăl lui Zanoah.) Aceştia au fost fiii Bitiei, fiica lui Faraon, cu care s-a căsătorit Mered.

And his wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh whom Mered took.

19 F iii soţiei lui Hodia, sora lui Naham, au fost tatăl garmitului Cheila şi maakatitul Eştemoa.

—And the sons of the wife of Hodijah, the sister of Naham: the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite.

20 F iii lui Simon au fost: Amnon, Rina, Ben-Hanan şi Tilon. Fiii lui Işi au fost: Zohet şi Ben-Zohet.

—And the sons of Shimon: Amnon and Rinnah, Ben-hanan and Tilon.—And the sons of Jishi: Zoheth and Ben-Zoheth.

21 U rmaşii lui Şela, fiul lui Iuda, au fost: Er, tatăl lui Leca, Lada, tatăl lui Mareşa, clanurile ţesătorilor de in subţire din Bet-Aşbea,

The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lechah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of byssus-workers, of the house of Ashbea,

22 I ochim şi bărbaţii din Cozeba, Ioaş, Saraf, cel care a stăpânit peste Moab, şi Iaşubi-Lehem. (Aceste date sunt vechi.)

and Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who ruled over Moab, and Jashubi-lehem. And these are ancient things.

23 E i erau olari şi locuiau în Netaim şi în Ghedera. Ei locuiau acolo împreună cu regele şi erau în slujba lui. Urmaşii lui Simeon

These were the potters, and those that abode among plantations and enclosures: there they dwelt with the king for his work.

The sons of Simeon: Nemuel and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Saul;

Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

26 U rmaşii lui Mişma au fost: Hamuel, fiul său; fiul acestuia, Zacur; fiul acestuia, Şimei.

And the sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son;

27 Ş imei a avut şaisprezece fii şi şase fiice, dar fraţii lui nu au avut mulţi fii; prin urmare, întregul lor clan nu a devenit atât de numeros precum fiii lui Iuda.

and Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters. And his brethren had not many sons; neither did all their family multiply like to the sons of Judah.

And their villages were Etam and Ain, Rimmon and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;

33 p recum şi toate aşezările din împrejurimile acestor cetăţi până la Baalat. Acestea au fost aşezările lor şi înscrierile lor genealogice.

and all their villages that were round about these cities, as far as Baal. These were their habitations and their genealogical register.

34 M eşobab, Iamlek, Ioşa, fiul lui Amaţia,

And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah,

35 I oel, Iehu, fiul lui Ioşibia, fiul lui Seraia, fiul lui Asiel,

and Joel, and Jehu the son of Josibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,

36 E lioenai, Iaakova, Ieşohaia, Asaia, Adiel, Iesimiel, Benaia

and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,

and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah:

38 – aceştia, menţionaţi pe nume, au fost conducători în clanurile lor. Familiile lor au devenit o mare mulţime.

these mentioned by name were princes in their families; and their fathers' houses increased greatly.

39 E i s-au dus înspre intrarea Ghedorului, până la răsăritul văii, ca să caute păşune pentru turmele lor.

And they went to the entrance of Gedor, as far as the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

40 A u găsit păşune grasă şi bună; ţinutul era larg, liniştit şi paşnic. Locuitorii care au fost înainte acolo proveneau din Ham.

And they found fat and good pasture, and a land widely extended and quiet and fertile, for they who had dwelt there formerly were of Ham.

41 A ceştia, menţionaţi pe nume, au venit pe vremea lui Ezechia, regele lui Iuda, şi le-au atacat corturile, iar pe meuniţii pe care i-au găsit acolo i-au nimicit, după cum se vede şi astăzi, şi s-au aşezat ei în locul lor, deoarece acolo era păşune pentru turmele lor.

And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their stead; for there was pasture there for their flocks.
