1 P aul, called as an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 T o the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

3 G race to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,

Siempre doy gracias a mi Dios por vosotros, por la gracia de Dios que os fue dada en Cristo Jesús,

5 t hat in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge,

porque en todo fuisteis enriquecidos en El, en toda palabra y en todo conocimiento,

6 e ven as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you,

así como el testimonio acerca de Cristo fue confirmado en vosotros;

7 s o that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

de manera que nada os falta en ningún don, esperando ansiosamente la revelación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo;

8 w ho will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

el cual también os confirmará hasta el fin, para que seáis irreprensibles en el día de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

9 G od is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Fiel es Dios, por medio de quien fuisteis llamados a la comunión con su Hijo Jesucristo, Señor nuestro. Exhortación a la unidad

10 N ow I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Os ruego, hermanos, por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que todos os pongáis de acuerdo, y que no haya divisiones entre vosotros, sino que estéis enteramente unidos en un mismo sentir y en un mismo parecer.

11 F or I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe’s people, that there are quarrels among you.

Porque he sido informado acerca de vosotros, hermanos míos, por los de Cloé, que hay contiendas entre vosotros.

12 N ow I mean this, that each one of you is saying, “I am of Paul,” and “I of Apollos,” and “I of Cephas,” and “I of Christ.”

Me refiero a que cada uno de vosotros dice: Yo soy de Pablo, yo de Apolos, yo de Cefas, yo de Cristo.

13 H as Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

¿Está dividido Cristo? ¿Acaso fue Pablo crucificado por vosotros? ¿O fuisteis bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?

14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,

Doy gracias a Dios que no bauticé a ninguno de vosotros, excepto a Crispo y a Gayo,

15 s o that no one would say you were baptized in my name.

para que nadie diga que fuisteis bautizados en mi nombre.

16 N ow I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other.

También bauticé a los de la casa de Estéfanas; por lo demás, no sé si bauticé a algún otro.

17 F or Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void. The Wisdom of God

Pues Cristo no me envió a bautizar, sino a predicar el evangelio, no con palabras elocuentes, para que no se haga vana la cruz de Cristo. Cristo, poder de Dios

18 F or the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Porque la palabra de la cruz es necedad para los que se pierden, pero para nosotros los salvos es poder de Dios.

19 F or it is written, “ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.”

Porque está escrito: Destruire la sabiduria de los sabios, y el entendimiento de los inteligentes desechare.

20 W here is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

¿Dónde está el sabio ? ¿Dónde el escriba? ¿Dónde el polemista de este siglo ? ¿No ha hecho Dios que la sabiduría de este mundo sea necedad ?

21 F or since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

Porque ya que en la sabiduría de Dios el mundo no conoció a Dios por medio de su propia sabiduría, agradó a Dios, mediante la necedad de la predicación, salvar a los que creen.

22 F or indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom;

Porque en verdad los judíos piden señales y los griegos buscan sabiduría;

23 b ut we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,

pero nosotros predicamos a Cristo crucificado, piedra de tropiezo para los judíos, y necedad para los gentiles;

24 b ut to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

mas para los llamados, tanto judíos como griegos, Cristo es poder de Dios y sabiduría de Dios.

25 B ecause the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Porque la necedad de Dios es más sabia que los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres. Cristo, sabiduría de Dios

26 F or consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;

Pues considerad, hermanos, vuestro llamamiento; no hubo muchos sabios conforme a la carne, ni muchos poderosos, ni muchos nobles;

27 b ut God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,

sino que Dios ha escogido lo necio del mundo, para avergonzar a los sabios; y Dios ha escogido lo débil del mundo, para avergonzar a lo que es fuerte;

28 a nd the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,

y lo vil y despreciado del mundo ha escogido Dios; lo que no es, para anular lo que es;

29 s o that no man may boast before God.

para que nadie se jacte delante de Dios.

30 B ut by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,

Mas por obra suya estáis vosotros en Cristo Jesús, el cual se hizo para nosotros sabiduría de Dios, y justificación, y santificación, y redención,

31 s o that, just as it is written, “ Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

para que, tal como está escrito: El que se gloria, que se glorie en el Señor.
