1 T hen it came about after these things, the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt offended their lord, the king of Egypt.

Después de estas cosas, sucedió que el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto ofendieron a su señor, el rey de Egipto.

2 P haraoh was furious with his two officials, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.

Y Faraón se enojó contra sus dos oficiales, contra el jefe de los coperos y contra el jefe de los panaderos.

3 S o he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the bodyguard, in the jail, the same place where Joseph was imprisoned.

Y los puso bajo custodia en la casa del capitán de la guardia, en la cárcel, en el mismo lugar donde José estaba preso.

4 T he captain of the bodyguard put Joseph in charge of them, and he took care of them; and they were in confinement for some time.

El capitán de la guardia se los asignó a José, y él les servía; y estuvieron bajo custodia por algún tiempo.

5 T hen the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt, who were confined in jail, both had a dream the same night, each man with his own dream and each dream with its own interpretation.

Entonces el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto, que estaban encerrados en la cárcel, tuvieron ambos un sueño en una misma noche, cada uno su propio sueño, y cada sueño con su propia interpretación.

6 W hen Joseph came to them in the morning and observed them, behold, they were dejected.

Y José vino a ellos por la mañana y los observó, y he aquí, estaban decaídos.

7 H e asked Pharaoh’s officials who were with him in confinement in his master’s house, “ Why are your faces so sad today?”

Y preguntó a los oficiales de Faraón que estaban con él bajo custodia en casa de su señor: ¿Por qué están vuestros rostros tan tristes hoy ?

8 T hen they said to him, “ We have had a dream and there is no one to interpret it.” Then Joseph said to them, “ Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell it to me, please.”

Y ellos le respondieron: Hemos tenido un sueño y no hay nadie que lo interprete. Entonces José les dijo: ¿No pertenecen a Dios las interpretaciones ? Os ruego que me lo contéis. Sueño del copero del rey

9 S o the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “In my dream, behold, there was a vine in front of me;

Contó, pues, el jefe de los coperos su sueño a José, y le dijo: En mi sueño, he aquí, había una vid delante de mí,

10 a nd on the vine were three branches. And as it was budding, its blossoms came out, and its clusters produced ripe grapes.

y en la vid había tres sarmientos. Y al brotar sus yemas, aparecieron las flores, y sus racimos produjeron uvas maduras.

11 N ow Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; so I took the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.”

Y la copa de Faraón estaba en mi mano; así que tomé las uvas y las exprimí en la copa de Faraón, y puse la copa en la mano de Faraón.

12 T hen Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days;

Entonces José le dijo: Esta es su interpretación: los tres sarmientos son tres días.

13 w ithin three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office; and you will put Pharaoh’s cup into his hand according to your former custom when you were his cupbearer.

Dentro de tres días Faraón levantará tu cabeza, te restaurará a tu puesto y tú pondrás la copa de Faraón en su mano como acostumbrabas antes cuando eras su copero.

14 O nly keep me in mind when it goes well with you, and please do me a kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh and get me out of this house.

Sólo te pido que te acuerdes de mí cuando te vaya bien, y te ruego que me hagas el favor de hacer mención de mí a Faraón, y me saques de esta casa.

15 F or I was in fact kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing that they should have put me into the dungeon.”

Porque la verdad es que yo fui secuestrado de la tierra de los hebreos, y aun aquí no he hecho nada para que me pusieran en el calabozo. Sueño del panadero del rey

16 W hen the chief baker saw that he had interpreted favorably, he said to Joseph, “I also saw in my dream, and behold, there were three baskets of white bread on my head;

Cuando el jefe de los panaderos vio que había interpretado favorablemente, dijo a José: Yo también vi en mi sueño, y he aquí, había tres cestas de pan blanco sobre mi cabeza;

17 a nd in the top basket there were some of all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head.”

y sobre la cesta de encima había toda clase de manjares hechos por un panadero para Faraón, y las aves los comían de la cesta sobre mi cabeza.

18 T hen Joseph answered and said, “This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days;

Entonces José respondió, y dijo: Esta es su interpretación: las tres cestas son tres días;

19 w ithin three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and will hang you on a tree, and the birds will eat your flesh off you.”

dentro de tres días Faraón te quitará la cabeza de sobre ti, te colgará en un árbol y las aves comerán tu carne. Cumplimiento de las interpretaciones

20 T hus it came about on the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.

Y sucedió que al tercer día, que era el día del cumpleaños de Faraón, éste hizo un banquete para todos sus siervos, y levantó la cabeza del jefe de los coperos y la cabeza del jefe de los panaderos en medio de sus siervos.

21 H e restored the chief cupbearer to his office, and he put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand;

Y restauró al jefe de los coperos a su cargo de copero y éste puso la copa en manos de Faraón;

22 b ut he hanged the chief baker, just as Joseph had interpreted to them.

pero ahorcó al jefe de los panaderos, tal como les había interpretado José.

23 Y et the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

Mas el jefe de los coperos no se acordó de José, sino que se olvidó de él.
