1 “ If there is a dispute between men and they go to court, and the judges decide their case, and they justify the righteous and condemn the wicked,
Si hay pleito entre dos hombres y van a la corte, y los jueces deciden el caso, y absuelven al justo y condenan al culpable,
2 t hen it shall be if the wicked man deserves to be beaten, the judge shall then make him lie down and be beaten in his presence with the number of stripes according to his guilt.
sucederá que si el culpable merece ser azotado, entonces el juez le hará tenderse, y será azotado en su presencia con el número de azotes de acuerdo con su culpa.
3 H e may beat him forty times but no more, so that he does not beat him with many more stripes than these and your brother is not degraded in your eyes.
Puede darle cuarenta azotes, pero no más, no sea que le dé muchos más azotes que éstos, y tu hermano quede degradado ante tus ojos.
4 “ You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing.
No pondrás bozal al buey mientras trilla. Deberes para con la viuda del hermano
5 “ When brothers live together and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the deceased shall not be married outside the family to a strange man. Her husband’s brother shall go in to her and take her to himself as wife and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.
Cuando dos hermanos habitan juntos y uno de ellos muere y no tiene hijo, la mujer del fallecido no se casará fuera de la familia con un extraño. El cuñado se allegará a ella y la tomará para sí como mujer, y cumplirá con ella su deber de cuñado.
6 I t shall be that the firstborn whom she bears shall assume the name of his dead brother, so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.
Y será que el primogénito que ella dé a luz llevará el nombre de su hermano difunto, para que su nombre no sea borrado de Israel.
7 B ut if the man does not desire to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders and say, ‘My husband’s brother refuses to establish a name for his brother in Israel; he is not willing to perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.’
Pero si el hombre no quiere tomar a su cuñada, entonces su cuñada irá a la puerta, a los ancianos, y dirá: “Mi cuñado se niega a establecer un nombre para su hermano en Israel; no quiere cumplir para conmigo su deber de cuñado.”
8 T hen the elders of his city shall summon him and speak to him. And if he persists and says, ‘I do not desire to take her,’
Entonces los ancianos de su ciudad lo llamarán y le hablarán. Y si él persiste y dice: “No deseo tomarla”,
9 t hen his brother’s wife shall come to him in the sight of the elders, and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face; and she shall declare, ‘Thus it is done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.’
entonces su cuñada vendrá a él a la vista de los ancianos, le quitará la sandalia de su pie y le escupirá en la cara; y ella declarará: “Así se hace al hombre que no quiere edificar la casa de su hermano.”
10 I n Israel his name shall be called, ‘The house of him whose sandal is removed.’
Y en Israel se le llamará: “La casa del de la sandalia quitada.” Leyes diversas
11 “ If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals,
Si dos hombres luchan entre sí, un hombre y su conciudadano, y la mujer de uno se acerca para librar a su marido de la mano del que lo golpea, y ella extiende su mano y le agarra sus partes vergonzosas,
12 t hen you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity.
entonces le cortarás su mano; no tendrás piedad.
13 “ You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a large and a small.
No tendrás en tu bolsa pesas diferentes, una grande y una pequeña.
14 Y ou shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small.
No tendrás en tu casa medidas diferentes, una grande y una pequeña.
15 Y ou shall have a full and just weight; you shall have a full and just measure, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
Tendrás peso completo y justo; tendrás medida completa y justa, para que se prolonguen tus días en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da.
16 F or everyone who does these things, everyone who acts unjustly is an abomination to the Lord your God.
Porque todo el que hace estas cosas, todo el que comete injusticia, es abominación para el Señor tu Dios.
17 “ Remember what Amalek did to you along the way when you came out from Egypt,
Acuérdate de lo que te hizo Amalec en el camino cuando saliste de Egipto,
18 h ow he met you along the way and attacked among you all the stragglers at your rear when you were faint and weary; and he did not fear God.
cómo te salió al encuentro en el camino, y atacó entre los tuyos a todos los agotados en tu retaguardia cuando tú estabas fatigado y cansado; y él no temió a Dios.
19 T herefore it shall come about when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your surrounding enemies, in the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you must not forget.
Por tanto, sucederá que cuando el Señor tu Dios te haya dado descanso de todos tus enemigos alrededor, en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da en heredad para poseerla, borrarás de debajo del cielo la memoria de Amalec; no lo olvides.
