1 W hen they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

Cuando se acercaron a Jerusalén y llegaron a Betfagé, junto al monte de los Olivos, Jesús entonces envió a dos discípulos,

2 s aying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me.

diciéndoles: Id a la aldea que está enfrente de vosotros, y enseguida encontraréis un asna atada y un pollino con ella; desatad la y traédme los.

3 I f anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”

Y si alguien os dice algo, decid: “El Señor los necesita”; y enseguida los enviará.

4 T his took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

Esto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo dicho por medio del profeta, cuando dijo:

5 “ Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘ Behold your King is coming to you, Gentle, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”

Decid a la hija de Sion: “ Mira, tu Rey viene a ti, humilde y montado en un asna, y en un pollino, hijo de bestia de carga.”

6 T he disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them,

Entonces fueron los discípulos e hicieron tal como Jesús les había mandado,

7 a nd brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their coats on them; and He sat on the coats.

y trajeron el asna y el pollino; pusieron sobre ellos sus mantos, y Jesús se sentó encima.

8 M ost of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road.

La mayoría de la multitud tendió sus mantos en el camino; otros cortaban ramas de los árboles y las tendían por el camino.

9 T he crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!”

Y las multitudes que iban delante de El, y las que iban detrás, gritaban, diciendo: ¡Hosanna al Hijo de David! ¡ Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!

10 W hen He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?”

Cuando El entró en Jerusalén, toda la ciudad se agitó, y decían: ¿Quién es éste?

11 A nd the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.” Cleansing the Temple

Y las multitudes contestaban: Este es el profeta Jesús, de Nazaret de Galilea. Jesús echa a los mercaderes del templo

12 A nd Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.

Y entró Jesús en el templo y echó fuera a todos los que compraban y vendían en el templo, y volcó las mesas de los cambistas y los asientos de los que vendían las palomas.

13 A nd He said to them, “It is written, ‘ My house shall be called a house of prayer ’; but you are making it a robbers ’ den.”

Y les dijo: Escrito está: “ Mi casa sera llamada casa de oracion ”, pero vosotros la estáis haciendo cueva de ladrones.

14 A nd the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.

Y en el templo se acercaron a El los ciegos y los cojos, y los sanó.

15 B ut when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became indignant

Pero cuando los principales sacerdotes y los escribas vieron las maravillas que había hecho, y a los muchachos que gritaban en el templo y que decían: ¡Hosanna al Hijo de David!, se indignaron

16 a nd said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, ‘ Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies You have prepared praise for Yourself ’?”

y le dijeron: ¿Oyes lo que éstos dicen? Y Jesús les respondió: Sí, ¿nunca habéis leído: “ De la boca de los pequeños y de los niños de pecho te has preparado alabanza ”?

17 A nd He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there. The Barren Fig Tree

Y dejándolos, salió fuera de la ciudad, a Betania, y se hospedó allí. La higuera estéril

18 N ow in the morning, when He was returning to the city, He became hungry.

Por la mañana, cuando regresaba a la ciudad, tuvo hambre.

19 S eeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He said to it, “No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you.” And at once the fig tree withered.

Y al ver una higuera junto al camino, se acercó a ella, pero no halló nada en ella sino sólo hojas, y le dijo: Nunca jamás brote fruto de ti. Y al instante se secó la higuera.

20 S eeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?”

Al ver esto, los discípulos se maravillaron y decían: ¿Cómo es que la higuera se secó al instante?

21 A nd Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.

Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: En verdad os digo que si tenéis fe y no dudáis, no sólo haréis lo de la higuera, sino que aun si decís a este monte: “Quítate y échate al mar”, así sucederá.

22 A nd all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Authority Challenged

Y todo lo que pidáis en oración, creyendo, lo recibiréis. La autoridad de Jesús puesta en duda

23 W hen He entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said, “By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?”

Cuando llegó Jesús al templo, los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo se le acercaron mientras enseñaba, diciendo: ¿Con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, y quién te dio esta autoridad?

24 J esus said to them, “I will also ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.

Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Yo también os haré una pregunta, que si me la contestáis, yo también os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

25 T he baptism of John was from what source, from heaven or from men?” And they began reasoning among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

¿De dónde era el bautismo de Juan?, ¿del cielo o de los hombres? Y ellos discurrían entre sí, diciendo: Si decimos: “Del cielo”, El nos dirá: “Entonces, ¿por qué no le creísteis?”

26 B ut if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the people; for they all regard John as a prophet.”

Y si decimos: “De los hombres”, tememos a la multitud; porque todos tienen a Juan por profeta.

27 A nd answering Jesus, they said, “We do not know.” He also said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things. Parable of Two Sons

Y respondiendo a Jesús, dijeron: No sabemos. El a su vez les dijo: Tampoco yo os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

28 “ But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘ Son, go work today in the vineyard.’

Pero, ¿qué os parece? Un hombre tenía dos hijos, y llegándose al primero, le dijo: “Hijo, ve, trabaja hoy en la viña.”

29 A nd he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went.

Y respondiendo él, dijo: “No quiero;” pero después, arrepentido, fue.

30 T he man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go.

Y llegándose al otro, le dijo lo mismo; pero él respondió y dijo: “Yo iré, señor”; y no fue.

31 W hich of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.

¿Cuál de los dos hizo la voluntad del padre? Ellos dijeron: El primero. Jesús les dijo: En verdad os digo que los recaudadores de impuestos y las rameras entran en el reino de Dios antes que vosotros.

32 F or John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him. Parable of the Landowner

Porque Juan vino a vosotros en camino de justicia y no le creísteis, pero los recaudadores de impuestos y las rameras le creyeron; y vosotros, viendo esto, ni siquiera os arrepentisteis después para creerle. Parábola de los labradores malvados

33 “ Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard and put a wall around it and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and rented it out to vine-growers and went on a journey.

Escuchad otra parábola. Había una vez un hacendado que planto una viña y la cerco con un muro, y cavo en ella un lagar y edifico una torre, la arrendó a unos labradores y se fue de viaje.

34 W hen the harvest time approached, he sent his slaves to the vine-growers to receive his produce.

Y cuando se acercó el tiempo de la cosecha, envió sus siervos a los labradores para recibir sus frutos.

35 T he vine-growers took his slaves and beat one, and killed another, and stoned a third.

Pero los labradores, tomando a los siervos, a uno lo golpearon, a otro lo mataron y a otro lo apedrearon.

36 A gain he sent another group of slaves larger than the first; and they did the same thing to them.

Volvió a mandar otro grupo de siervos, mayor que el primero; y les hicieron lo mismo.

37 B ut afterward he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

Finalmente les envió a su hijo, diciendo: “Respetarán a mi hijo.”

38 B ut when the vine-growers saw the son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’

Pero cuando los labradores vieron al hijo, dijeron entre sí: “Este es el heredero; venid, matémoslo y apoderémonos de su heredad.”

39 T hey took him, and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

Y echándole mano, lo arrojaron fuera de la viña y lo mataron.

40 T herefore when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine-growers?”

Cuando venga, pues, el dueño de la viña, ¿qué hará a esos labradores?

41 T hey said to Him, “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end, and will rent out the vineyard to other vine-growers who will pay him the proceeds at the proper seasons.”

Ellos le dijeron: Llevará a esos miserables a un fin lamentable, y arrendará la viña a otros labradores que le paguen los frutos a su tiempo.

42 J esus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘ The stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief corner stone; This came about from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes ’?

Jesús les dijo: ¿Nunca leísteis en las Escrituras: “ La piedra que desecharon los constructores, esa, en piedra angular se ha convertido; esto fue hecho de parte del Señor, y es maravilloso a nuestros ojos ”?

43 T herefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people, producing the fruit of it.

Por eso os digo que el reino de Dios os será quitado y será dado a una nación que produzca sus frutos.

44 A nd he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust.”

Y el que caiga sobre esta piedra será hecho pedazos; pero sobre quien ella caiga, lo esparcirá como polvo.

45 W hen the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them.

Al oír sus parábolas los principales sacerdotes y los fariseos, comprendieron que hablaba de ellos.

46 W hen they sought to seize Him, they feared the people, because they considered Him to be a prophet.

Y cuando procuraron prenderle, tuvieron miedo de la multitud, porque le tenían por profeta.
