1 J esus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness

Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del Jordán y fue llevado por el Espíritu en el desierto

2 f or forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He became hungry.

por cuarenta días, siendo tentado por el diablo. Y no comió nada durante esos días, pasados los cuales tuvo hambre.

3 A nd the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

Entonces el diablo le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios, di a esta piedra que se convierta en pan.

4 A nd Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘ Man shall not live on bread alone.’”

Jesús le respondió: Escrito está: “ No solo de pan vivira el hombre.”

5 A nd he led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

Llevándole a una altura, el diablo le mostró en un instante todos los reinos del mundo.

6 A nd the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.

Y el diablo le dijo: Todo este dominio y su gloria te daré; pues a mí me ha sido entregado, y a quien quiero se lo doy.

7 T herefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours.”

Por tanto, si te postras delante de mí, todo será tuyo.

8 J esus answered him, “It is written, ‘ You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’”

Respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Escrito está: “ Al Señor tu Dios adoraras, y a El solo serviras.”

9 A nd he led Him to Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here;

Entonces el diablo le llevó a Jerusalén y le puso sobre el pináculo del templo, y le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios, lánzate abajo desde aquí,

10 f or it is written, ‘ He will command His angels concerning You to guard You,’

pues escrito está: “A sus angeles te encomendara para que te guarden ”,

11 a nd, ‘ On their hands they will bear You up, So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

y: “ en las manos te llevaran, no sea que tu pie tropiece en piedra.”

12 A nd Jesus answered and said to him, “It is said, ‘ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Se ha dicho: “ No tentaras al Señor tu Dios.”

13 W hen the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time. Jesus’ Public Ministry

Cuando el diablo hubo acabado toda tentación, se alejó de El esperando un tiempo oportuno. Ministerio en Galilea

14 A nd Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district.

Jesús regresó a Galilea en el poder del Espíritu, y las nuevas acerca de El se divulgaron por toda aquella comarca.

15 A nd He began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.

Y enseñaba en sus sinagogas, siendo alabado por todos. Jesús en Nazaret

16 A nd He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.

Llegó a Nazaret, donde se había criado, y según su costumbre, entró en la sinagoga el día de reposo, y se levantó a leer.

17 A nd the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,

Le dieron el libro del profeta Isaías, y abriendo el libro, halló el lugar donde estaba escrito:

18 “ The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed,

El Espiritu del Señor esta sobre mi, porque me ha ungido para anunciar el evangelio a los pobres. Me ha enviado para proclamar libertad a los cautivos, y la recuperacion de la vista a los ciegos; para poner en libertad a los oprimidos;

19 T o proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”

para proclamar el año favorable del Señor.

20 A nd He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

Cerrando el libro, lo devolvió al asistente y se sentó; y los ojos de todos en la sinagoga estaban fijos en El.

21 A nd He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

Y comenzó a decirles: Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura que habéis oído.

22 A nd all were speaking well of Him, and wondering at the gracious words which were falling from His lips; and they were saying, “ Is this not Joseph’s son?”

Y todos hablaban bien de El y se maravillaban de las palabras llenas de gracia que salían de su boca, y decían: ¿No es éste el hijo de José ?

23 A nd He said to them, “No doubt you will quote this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we heard was done at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.’”

Entonces El les dijo: Sin duda me citaréis este refrán: “Médico, cúrate a ti mismo”; esto es, todo lo que oímos que se ha hecho en Capernaúm, hazlo también aquí en tu tierra.

24 A nd He said, “Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown.

Y dijo: En verdad os digo, que ningún profeta es bien recibido en su propia tierra.

25 B ut I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land;

Pero en verdad os digo: muchas viudas había en Israel en los días de Elías, cuando el cielo fue cerrado por tres años y seis meses y cuando hubo gran hambre sobre toda la tierra;

26 a nd yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.

y sin embargo, a ninguna de ellas fue enviado Elías, sino a una mujer viuda de Sarepta, en la tierra de Sidón.

27 A nd there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.”

Y muchos leprosos había en Israel en tiempos del profeta Eliseo, pero ninguno de ellos fue limpiado, sino Naamán el sirio.

28 A nd all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage as they heard these things;

Y todos en la sinagoga se llenaron de ira cuando oyeron estas cosas,

29 a nd they got up and drove Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, in order to throw Him down the cliff.

y levantándose, le echaron fuera de la ciudad, y le llevaron hasta la cumbre del monte sobre el cual estaba edificada su ciudad para despeñarle.

30 B ut passing through their midst, He went His way.

Pero El, pasando por en medio de ellos, se fue. Jesús enseña en Capernaúm

31 A nd He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath;

Y descendió a Capernaúm, ciudad de Galilea. Y les enseñaba en los días de reposo;

32 a nd they were amazed at His teaching, for His message was with authority.

y se admiraban de su enseñanza porque su mensaje era con autoridad.

33 I n the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,

Y estaba en la sinagoga un hombre poseído por el espíritu de un demonio inmundo, y gritó a gran voz:

34 “ Let us alone! What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are— the Holy One of God!”

Déja nos ¿Qué tenemos que ver contigo, Jesús de Nazaret ? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres: el Santo de Dios.

35 B ut Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people, he came out of him without doing him any harm.

Jesús entonces lo reprendió, diciendo: ¡Cállate y sal de él! Y después que el demonio lo derribó en medio de ellos, salió de él sin hacerle ningún daño.

36 A nd amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another saying, “What is this message? For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out.”

Y todos se quedaron asombrados, y discutían entre sí, diciendo: ¿Qué mensaje es éste? Porque con autoridad y poder manda a los espíritus inmundos y salen.

37 A nd the report about Him was spreading into every locality in the surrounding district. Many Are Healed

Y su fama se divulgaba por todos los lugares de la región circunvecina. Jesús sana a la suegra de Simón y a muchos otros

38 T hen He got up and left the synagogue, and entered Simon’s home. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him to help her.

Y levantándose, salió de la sinagoga y entró en casa de Simón. Y la suegra de Simón se hallaba sufriendo con una fiebre muy alta, y le rogaron por ella.

39 A nd standing over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she immediately got up and waited on them.

E inclinándose sobre ella, reprendió la fiebre, y la fiebre la dejó; y al instante ella se levantó y les servía.

40 W hile the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and laying His hands on each one of them, He was healing them.

Al ponerse el sol, todos los que tenían enfermos de diversas enfermedades se los llevaban a El; y poniendo El las manos sobre cada uno de ellos, los sanaba.

41 D emons also were coming out of many, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But rebuking them, He would not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.

También de muchos salían demonios, gritando y diciendo: ¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios! Pero, reprendiéndolos, no les permitía hablar, porque sabían que El era el Cristo. Jesús recorre otras ciudades

42 W hen day came, Jesus left and went to a secluded place; and the crowds were searching for Him, and came to Him and tried to keep Him from going away from them.

Cuando se hizo de día, salió y se fue a un lugar solitario; y las multitudes le buscaban, y llegaron adonde El estaba y procuraron detenerle para que no se separara de ellos.

43 B ut He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose.”

Pero El les dijo: También a las otras ciudades debo anunciar las buenas nuevas del reino de Dios, porque para esto yo he sido enviado.

44 S o He kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

Y predicaba en las sinagogas de Judea.
