1 T hen the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying,

Y vino la palabra del Señor de los ejércitos, diciendo:

2 “ Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘I am exceedingly jealous for Zion, yes, with great wrath I am jealous for her.’

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “He celado a Sion con gran celo, sí, con gran furor la he celado.”

3 T hus says the Lord, ‘I will return to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.’

Así dice el Señor: “Volveré a Sion y en medio de Jerusalén moraré. Y Jerusalén se llamará Ciudad de la Verdad, y el monte del Señor de los ejércitos, Monte Santo.”

4 T hus says the Lord of hosts, ‘ Old men and old women will again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each man with his staff in his hand because of age.

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Aún se sentarán ancianos y ancianas en las calles de Jerusalén, cada uno con su bastón en la mano por causa de sus muchos días.

5 A nd the streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing in its streets.’

“Y las calles de la ciudad se llenarán de muchachos y muchachas que jugarán en sus calles.”

6 T hus says the Lord of hosts, ‘If it is too difficult in the sight of the remnant of this people in those days, will it also be too difficult in My sight?’ declares the Lord of hosts.

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Si en aquellos días esto parece muy difícil a los ojos del remanente de este pueblo, ¿será también muy difícil a mis ojos?” —declara el Señor de los ejércitos.

7 T hus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Behold, I am going to save My people from the land of the east and from the land of the west;

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “He aquí, salvaré a mi pueblo de la tierra del oriente y de la tierra donde se pone el sol;

8 a nd I will bring them back and they will live in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God in truth and righteousness.’

y los traeré y habitarán en medio de Jerusalén; y ellos serán mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios en verdad y en justicia.”

9 “ Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Let your hands be strong, you who are listening in these days to these words from the mouth of the prophets, those who spoke in the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laid, to the end that the temple might be built.

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Sean fuertes vuestras manos, vosotros que escucháis en estos días estas palabras de la boca de los profetas, los cuales hablaron el día en que se pusieron los cimientos de la casa del Señor de los ejércitos para la reedificación del templo.

10 F or before those days there was no wage for man or any wage for animal; and for him who went out or came in there was no peace because of his enemies, and I set all men one against another.

“Porque antes de aquellos días no había paga para hombre ni paga para el ganado; y no había paz para el que salía o entraba a causa del enemigo, y yo puse a todos los hombres unos contra otros.

11 B ut now I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days,’ declares the Lord of hosts.

“Pero ahora yo no trataré al remanente de este pueblo como en los días pasados ” —declara el Señor de los ejércitos.

12 ‘ For there will be peace for the seed: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.

“Porque habrá simiente de paz: la vid dará su fruto, la tierra dará su producto y los cielos darán su rocío; y haré que el remanente de este pueblo herede todas estas cosas.

13 I t will come about that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you that you may become a blessing. Do not fear; let your hands be strong.’

“Y sucederá que como fuisteis maldición entre las naciones, casa de Judá y casa de Israel, así os salvaré para que seáis bendición. No temáis, mas sean fuertes vuestras manos.”

14 “ For thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Just as I purposed to do harm to you when your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘and I have not relented,

Porque así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Tal como me propuse haceros mal cuando vuestros padres me hicieron enojar” —dice el Señor de los ejércitos— “y no me he arrepentido,

15 s o I have again purposed in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not fear!

así me he propuesto en estos días volver a hacer bien a Jerusalén y a la casa de Judá. ¡No temáis!

16 T hese are the things which you should do: speak the truth to one another; judge with truth and judgment for peace in your gates.

“Estas son las cosas que debéis hacer: decid la verdad unos a otros, juzgad con verdad y con juicio de paz en vuestras puertas,

17 A lso let none of you devise evil in your heart against another, and do not love perjury; for all these are what I hate,’ declares the Lord.”

no traméis en vuestro corazón el mal uno contra otro, ni améis el juramento falso; porque todas estas cosas son las que odio ” —declara el Señor.

18 T hen the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying,

Entonces la palabra del Señor de los ejércitos vino a mí, diciendo:

19 “ Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘The fast of the fourth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh and the fast of the tenth months will become joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah; so love truth and peace.’

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “El ayuno del cuarto mes, el ayuno del quinto, el ayuno del séptimo y el ayuno del décimo se convertirán para la casa de Judá en gozo, alegría y fiestas alegres. Amad, pues, la verdad y la paz.”

20 “ Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘ It will yet be that peoples will come, even the inhabitants of many cities.

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “ Y será que aun vendrán pueblos y habitantes de muchas ciudades;

21 T he inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, “Let us go at once to entreat the favor of the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts; I will also go.”

y los habitantes de una irán a otra, diciendo: ‘Vamos sin demora a implorar el favor del Señor, y a buscar al Señor de los ejércitos. Yo también iré.’

22 S o many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of the Lord.’

“Y vendrán muchos pueblos y naciones poderosas a buscar al Señor de los ejércitos en Jerusalén y a implorar el favor del Señor.”

23 T hus says the Lord of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”’”

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “En aquellos días diez hombres de todas las lenguas de las naciones asirán el vestido de un judío, diciendo: ‘Iremos con vosotros, porque hemos oído que Dios está con vosotros.’”
