1 “ These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling.

Estas cosas os he dicho para que no tengáis tropiezo.

2 T hey will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.

Os expulsarán de las sinagogas; pero viene la hora cuando cualquiera que os mate pensará que así rinde un servicio a Dios.

3 T hese things they will do because they have not known the Father or Me.

Y harán estas cosas porque no han conocido ni al Padre ni a mí.

4 B ut these things I have spoken to you, so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. These things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you. The Holy Spirit Promised

Pero os he dicho estas cosas para que cuando llegue la hora, os acordéis de que ya os había hablado de ellas. Y no os dije estas cosas al principio, porque yo estaba con vosotros.

5 “ But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘ Where are You going?’

Pero ahora voy al que me envió, y ninguno de vosotros me pregunta: “¿Adónde vas ?”

6 B ut because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

Mas porque os he dicho estas cosas, la tristeza ha llenado vuestro corazón. La obra del Espíritu Santo

7 B ut I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

Pero yo os digo la verdad: os conviene que yo me vaya; porque si no me voy, el Consolador no vendrá a vosotros; pero si me voy, os lo enviaré.

8 A nd He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;

Y cuando El venga, convencerá al mundo de pecado, de justicia y de juicio;

9 c oncerning sin, because they do not believe in Me;

de pecado, porque no creen en mí;

10 a nd concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;

de justicia, porque yo voy al Padre y no me veréis más;

11 a nd concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

y de juicio, porque el príncipe de este mundo ha sido juzgado.

12 “ I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

Aún tengo muchas cosas que deciros, pero ahora no las podéis soportar.

13 B ut when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

Pero cuando El, el Espíritu de verdad, venga, os guiará a toda la verdad, porque no hablará por su propia cuenta, sino que hablará todo lo que oiga, y os hará saber lo que habrá de venir.

14 H e will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

El me glorificará, porque tomará de lo mío y os lo hará saber.

15 A ll things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. Jesus’ Death and Resurrection Foretold

Todo lo que tiene el Padre es mío; por eso dije que El toma de lo mío y os lo hará saber.

16 “ A little while, and you will no longer see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me.”

Un poco más, y ya no me veréis; y de nuevo un poco, y me veréis.

17 S ome of His disciples then said to one another, “What is this thing He is telling us, ‘ A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and, ‘because I go to the Father’ ?”

Entonces algunos de sus discípulos se decían unos a otros: ¿Qué es esto que nos dice: “Un poco más, y no me veréis, y de nuevo un poco, y me veréis ” y “Porque yo voy al Padre ”?

18 S o they were saying, “What is this that He says, ‘A little while’ ? We do not know what He is talking about.”

Por eso decían: ¿Qué es esto que dice: “Un poco”? No sabemos de qué habla.

19 J esus knew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, “Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you will not see Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me’?

Jesús sabía que querían preguntarle, y les dijo: ¿Estáis discutiendo entre vosotros sobre esto, porque dije: “Un poco más, y no me veréis, y de nuevo un poco, y me veréis”?

20 T ruly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy.

En verdad, en verdad os digo que lloraréis y os lamentaréis, pero el mundo se alegrará; estaréis tristes, pero vuestra tristeza se convertirá en alegría.

21 W henever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world.

Cuando la mujer está para dar a luz, tiene aflicción, porque ha llegado su hora; pero cuando da a luz al niño, ya no se acuerda de la angustia, por la alegría de que un niño haya nacido en el mundo.

22 T herefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. Prayer Promises

Por tanto, ahora vosotros tenéis también aflicción; pero yo os veré otra vez, y vuestro corazón se alegrará, y nadie os quitará vuestro gozo.

23 I n that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.

En aquel día no me preguntaréis nada. En verdad, en verdad os digo: si pedís algo al Padre, os lo dará en mi nombre.

24 U ntil now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

Hasta ahora nada habéis pedido en mi nombre; pedid y recibiréis, para que vuestro gozo sea completo.

25 “ These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.

Estas cosas os he hablado en lenguaje figurado; viene el tiempo cuando no os hablaré más en lenguaje figurado, sino que os hablaré del Padre claramente.

26 I n that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf;

En ese día pediréis en mi nombre, y no os digo que yo rogaré al Padre por vosotros,

27 f or the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.

pues el Padre mismo os ama, porque vosotros me habéis amado y habéis creído que yo salí del Padre.

28 I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.”

Salí del Padre y he venido al mundo; de nuevo, dejo el mundo y voy al Padre.

29 H is disciples said, “Lo, now You are speaking plainly and are not using a figure of speech.

Sus discípulos le dijeron: He aquí que ahora hablas claramente y no usas lenguaje figurado.

30 N ow we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we believe that You came from God.”

Ahora entendemos que tú sabes todas las cosas, y no necesitas que nadie te pregunte; por esto creemos que tú viniste de Dios.

31 J esus answered them, “Do you now believe?

Jesús les respondió: ¿Ahora creéis?

32 B ehold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

Mirad, la hora viene, y ya ha llegado, en que seréis esparcidos, cada uno por su lado, y me dejaréis solo; y sin embargo no estoy solo, porque el Padre está conmigo.

33 T hese things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

Estas cosas os he hablado para que en mí tengáis paz. En el mundo tenéis tribulación; pero confiad, yo he vencido al mundo.
