1 N ow before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

Antes de la fiesta de la Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que su hora había llegado para pasar de este mundo al Padre, habiendo amado a los suyos que estaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el fin.

2 D uring supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him,

Y durante la cena, como ya el diablo había puesto en el corazón de Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón, el que lo entregara,

3 J esus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God,

Jesús, sabiendo que el Padre había puesto todas las cosas en sus manos, y que de Dios había salido y a Dios volvía,

4 g ot up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself. Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet

se levantó de la cena y se quitó su manto, y tomando una toalla, se la ciñó.

5 T hen He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

Luego echó agua en una vasija, y comenzó a lavar los pies de los discípulos y a secárselos con la toalla que tenía ceñida.

6 S o He came to Simon Peter. He said to Him, “Lord, do You wash my feet?”

Entonces llegó a Simón Pedro. Este le dijo: Señor, ¿tú lavarme a mí los pies?

7 J esus answered and said to him, “What I do you do not realize now, but you will understand hereafter.”

Jesús respondió, y le dijo: Ahora tú no comprendes lo que yo hago, pero lo entenderás después.

8 P eter said to Him, “Never shall You wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “ If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

Pedro le contestó: ¡Jamás me lavarás los pies! Jesús le respondió: Si no te lavo, no tienes parte conmigo.

9 S imon Peter said to Him, “Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.”

Simón Pedro le dijo: Señor, entonces no sólo los pies, sino también las manos y la cabeza.

10 J esus said to him, “He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”

Jesús le dijo: El que se ha bañado no necesita lavarse, excepto los pies, pues está todo limpio; y vosotros estáis limpios, pero no todos.

11 F or He knew the one who was betraying Him; for this reason He said, “Not all of you are clean.”

Porque sabía quién le iba a entregar; por eso dijo: No todos estáis limpios. Jesús, ejemplo supremo de humildad

12 S o when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?

Entonces, cuando acabó de lavarles los pies, tomó su manto, y sentándose a la mesa otra vez, les dijo: ¿Sabéis lo que os he hecho?

13 Y ou call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am.

Vosotros me llamáis Maestro y Señor; y tenéis razón, porque lo soy.

14 I f I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

Pues si yo, el Señor y el Maestro, os lavé los pies, vosotros también debéis lavaros los pies unos a otros.

15 F or I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.

Porque os he dado ejemplo, para que como yo os he hecho, vosotros también hagáis.

16 T ruly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.

En verdad, en verdad os digo: un siervo no es mayor que su señor, ni un enviado es mayor que el que lo envió.

17 I f you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

Si sabéis esto, seréis felices si lo practicáis.

18 I do not speak of all of you. I know the ones I have chosen; but it is that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘ He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’

No hablo de todos vosotros; yo conozco a los que he escogido; pero es para que se cumpla la Escritura: “ El que come mi pan ha levantado contra mi su calcañar.”

19 F rom now on I am telling you before it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that I am He.

Os lo digo desde ahora, antes de que pase, para que cuando suceda, creáis que yo soy.

20 T ruly, truly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.” Jesus Predicts His Betrayal

En verdad, en verdad os digo: el que recibe al que yo envíe, me recibe a mí; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me envió. Jesús identifica al traidor

21 W hen Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, that one of you will betray Me.”

Habiendo dicho Jesús esto, se angustió en espíritu, y testificó y dijo: En verdad, en verdad os digo que uno de vosotros me entregará.

22 T he disciples began looking at one another, at a loss to know of which one He was speaking.

Los discípulos se miraban unos a otros, y estaban perplejos sin saber de quién hablaba.

23 T here was reclining on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.

Uno de sus discípulos, el que Jesús amaba, estaba a la mesa reclinado en el pecho de Jesús.

24 S o Simon Peter gestured to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom He is speaking.”

Por eso Simón Pedro le hizo señas, y le dijo: Di nos de quién habla.

25 H e, leaning back thus on Jesus’ bosom, said to Him, “Lord, who is it?”

El, recostándose de nuevo sobre el pecho de Jesús, le dijo: Señor, ¿quién es ?

26 J esus then answered, “That is the one for whom I shall dip the morsel and give it to him.” So when He had dipped the morsel, He took and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.

Entonces Jesús respondió: Es aquel a quien yo daré el bocado que voy a mojar. Y después de mojar el bocado, lo tomó y se lo dio a Judas, hijo de Simón Iscariote.

27 A fter the morsel, Satan then entered into him. Therefore Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”

Y después del bocado, Satanás entró en él. Entonces Jesús le dijo: Lo que vas a hacer, hazlo pronto.

28 N ow no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose He had said this to him.

Pero ninguno de los que estaban sentados a la mesa entendió por qué le dijo esto.

29 F or some were supposing, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him, “Buy the things we have need of for the feast”; or else, that he should give something to the poor.

Porque algunos pensaban que como Judas tenía la bolsa del dinero, Jesús le decía: Compra lo que necesitamos para la fiesta, o que diera algo a los pobres.

30 S o after receiving the morsel he went out immediately; and it was night.

Y Judas, después de recibir el bocado, salió inmediatamente; y ya era de noche. Un mandamiento nuevo

31 T herefore when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him;

Entonces, cuando salió, Jesús dijo: Ahora es glorificado el Hijo del Hombre, y Dios es glorificado en El.

32 i f God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately.

Si Dios es glorificado en El, Dios también le glorificará en sí mismo, y le glorificará enseguida.

33 L ittle children, I am with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’

Hijitos, estaré con vosotros un poco más de tiempo. Me buscaréis, y como dije a los judíos, ahora también os digo a vosotros: adonde yo voy, vosotros no podéis ir.

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Un mandamiento nuevo os doy: que os améis los unos a los otros; que como yo os he amado, así también os améis los unos a los otros.

35 B y this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

En esto conocerán todos que sois mis discípulos, si os tenéis amor los unos a los otros. Jesús predice la negación de Pedro

36 S imon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, “ Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later.”

Simón Pedro le dijo: Señor, ¿adónde vas? Jesús respondió: Adonde yo voy, tú no me puedes seguir ahora, pero me seguirás después.

37 P eter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You right now? I will lay down my life for You.”

Pedro le dijo: Señor, ¿por qué no te puedo seguir ahora mismo? ¡ Yo daré mi vida por ti!

38 J esus answered, “Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.

Jesús le respondió: ¿Tu vida darás por mí? En verdad, en verdad te digo: no cantará el gallo sin que antes me hayas negado tres veces.
