1 N ow the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.

Se acercaba la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, llamada la Pascua.

2 T he chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people.

Y los principales sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban cómo dar muerte a Jesús, pues temían al pueblo.

3 A nd Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve.

Entonces Satanás entró en Judas, llamado Iscariote, que pertenecía al número de los doce;

4 A nd he went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him to them.

y él fue y discutió con los principales sacerdotes y con los oficiales sobre cómo se lo entregaría.

5 T hey were glad and agreed to give him money.

Ellos se alegraron y convinieron en darle dinero.

6 S o he consented, and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him to them apart from the crowd.

El aceptó, y buscaba una oportunidad para entregarle, sin hacer un escándalo. Preparación de la Pascua

7 T hen came the first day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.

Llegó el día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura en que debía sacrificarse el cordero de la Pascua.

8 A nd Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.”

Entonces Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciendo: Id y preparad la Pascua para nosotros, para que la comamos.

9 T hey said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare it?”

Ellos le dijeron: ¿Dónde deseas que la preparemos?

10 A nd He said to them, “When you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters.

Y El les respondió: He aquí, al entrar en la ciudad, os saldrá al encuentro un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua; seguidle a la casa donde entre.

11 A nd you shall say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’

Y diréis al dueño de la casa: “El Maestro te dice: ‘¿Dónde está la habitación, en la cual pueda comer la Pascua con mis discípulos?’”

12 A nd he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there.”

Entonces él os mostrará un gran aposento alto, dispuesto; preparad la allí.

13 A nd they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover. The Lord’s Supper

Entonces ellos fueron y encontraron todo tal como El les había dicho; y prepararon la Pascua. Institución de la Cena del Señor

14 W hen the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.

Cuando llegó la hora, se sentó a la mesa, y con El los apóstoles,

15 A nd He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;

y les dijo: Intensamente he deseado comer esta Pascua con vosotros antes de padecer;

16 f or I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

porque os digo que nunca más volveré a comerla hasta que se cumpla en el reino de Dios.

17 A nd when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves;

Y habiendo tomado una copa, después de haber dado gracias, dijo: Tomad esto y repartidlo entre vosotros;

18 f or I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”

porque os digo que de ahora en adelante no beberé del fruto de la vid, hasta que venga el reino de Dios.

19 A nd when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

Y habiendo tomado pan, después de haber dado gracias, lo partió, y les dio, diciendo: Esto es mi cuerpo que por vosotros es dado; haced esto en memoria de mí.

20 A nd in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.

De la misma manera tomó la copa después de haber cenado, diciendo: Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre, que es derramada por vosotros.

21 B ut behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.

Mas he aquí, la mano del que me entrega está conmigo en la mesa.

22 F or indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”

Porque en verdad, el Hijo del Hombre va según se ha determinado, pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien El es entregado!

23 A nd they began to discuss among themselves which one of them it might be who was going to do this thing. Who Is Greatest

Entonces ellos comenzaron a discutir entre sí quién de ellos sería el que iba a hacer esto. Los discípulos discuten sobre quién es el mayor

24 A nd there arose also a dispute among them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest.

Se suscitó también entre ellos un altercado, sobre cuál de ellos debería ser considerado como el mayor.

25 A nd He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’

Y Jesús les dijo: Los reyes de los gentiles se enseñorean de ellos; y los que tienen autoridad sobre ellos son llamados bienhechores.

26 B ut it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant.

Pero no es así con vosotros; antes, el mayor entre vosotros hágase como el menor, y el que dirige como el que sirve.

27 F or who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table ? But I am among you as the one who serves.

Porque, ¿cuál es mayor, el que se sienta a la mesa, o el que sirve ? ¿No lo es el que se sienta a la mesa ? Sin embargo, entre vosotros yo soy como el que sirve.

28 “ You are those who have stood by Me in My trials;

Vosotros sois los que habéis permanecido conmigo en mis pruebas;

29 a nd just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you

y así como mi Padre me ha otorgado un reino, yo os otorgo

30 t hat you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

que comáis y bebáis a mi mesa en mi reino; y os sentaréis en tronos juzgando a las doce tribus de Israel. Jesús predice la negación de Pedro

31 “ Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat;

Simón, Simón, mira que Satanás os ha reclamado para zarandearos como a trigo;

32 b ut I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

pero yo he rogado por ti para que tu fe no falle; y tú, una vez que hayas regresado, fortalece a tus hermanos.

33 B ut he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!”

Y Pedro le dijo: Señor, estoy dispuesto a ir contigo tanto a la cárcel como a la muerte.

34 A nd He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”

Pero Jesús le dijo: Te digo, Pedro, que el gallo no cantará hoy hasta que tú hayas negado tres veces que me conoces. Bolsa, alforja y espada

35 A nd He said to them, “ When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?” They said, “ No, nothing.”

Y les dijo: Cuando os envié sin bolsa, ni alforja, ni sandalias, ¿acaso os faltó algo? Y ellos contestaron: No, nada.

36 A nd He said to them, “But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.

Entonces les dijo: Pero ahora, el que tenga una bolsa, que la lleve consigo, de la misma manera también una alforja, y el que no tenga espada, venda su manto y compre una.

37 F or I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, ‘ And He was numbered with transgressors ’; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment.”

Porque os digo que es necesario que en mí se cumpla esto que está escrito: “Y con los transgresores fue contado ”; pues ciertamente, lo que se refiere a mí, tiene su cumplimiento.

38 T hey said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.” The Garden of Gethsemane

Y ellos dijeron: Señor, mira, aquí hay dos espadas. Y El les dijo: Es suficiente. Jesús en Getsemaní

39 A nd He came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.

Y saliendo, se encaminó, como de costumbre, hacia el monte de los Olivos; y los discípulos también le siguieron.

40 W hen He arrived at the place, He said to them, “ Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

Cuando llegó al lugar, les dijo: Orad para que no entréis en tentación.

41 A nd He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray,

Y se apartó de ellos como a un tiro de piedra, y poniéndose de rodillas, oraba,

42 s aying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”

diciendo: Padre, si es tu voluntad, aparta de mí esta copa; pero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya.

43 N ow an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.

Entonces se le apareció un ángel del cielo, fortaleciéndole.

44 A nd being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.

Y estando en agonía, oraba con mucho fervor; y su sudor se volvió como gruesas gotas de sangre, que caían sobre la tierra.

45 W hen He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow,

Cuando se levantó de orar, fue a los discípulos y los halló dormidos a causa de la tristeza,

46 a nd said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation.” Jesus Betrayed by Judas

y les dijo: ¿Por qué dormís? Levantaos y orad para que no entréis en tentación. Arresto de Jesús

47 W hile He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was preceding them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him.

Mientras todavía estaba El hablando, he aquí, llegó una multitud, y el que se llamaba Judas, uno de los doce, iba delante de ellos, y se acercó a Jesús para besarle.

48 B ut Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”

Pero Jesús le dijo: Judas, ¿con un beso entregas al Hijo del Hombre?

49 W hen those who were around Him saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

Y cuando los que rodeaban a Jesús vieron lo que iba a suceder, dijeron: Señor, ¿heriremos a espada ?

50 A nd one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.

Y uno de ellos hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote y le cortó la oreja derecha.

51 B ut Jesus answered and said, “ Stop! No more of this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.

Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Deteneos! Basta de esto. Y tocando la oreja al siervo, lo sanó.

52 T hen Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against a robber?

Entonces Jesús dijo a los principales sacerdotes, a los oficiales del templo y a los ancianos que habían venido contra El: ¿Habéis salido con espadas y garrotes como contra un ladrón ?

53 W hile I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on Me; but this hour and the power of darkness are yours.” Jesus’ Arrest

Cuando estaba con vosotros cada día en el templo, no me echasteis mano; pero esta hora y el poder de las tinieblas son vuestros. La negación de Pedro

54 H aving arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance.

Habiéndole arrestado, se lo llevaron y le condujeron a la casa del sumo sacerdote; mas Pedro le seguía de lejos.

55 A fter they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.

Después de encender ellos una hoguera en medio del patio, y de sentarse juntos, Pedro se sentó entre ellos.

56 A nd a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, “This man was with Him too.”

Y una sirvienta, al verlo sentado junto a la lumbre, fijándose en él detenidamente, dijo: También éste estaba con El.

57 B ut he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”

Pero él lo negó, diciendo: Mujer, yo no le conozco.

58 A little later, another saw him and said, “You are one of them too!” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”

Un poco después, otro al verlo, dijo: ¡Tú también eres uno de ellos! Pero Pedro dijo: ¡Hombre, no es cierto!

59 A fter about an hour had passed, another man began to insist, saying, “Certainly this man also was with Him, for he is a Galilean too.”

Pasada como una hora, otro insistía, diciendo: Ciertamente éste también estaba con El, pues él también es galileo.

60 B ut Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

Pero Pedro dijo: Hombre, yo no sé de qué hablas. Y al instante, estando él todavía hablando, cantó un gallo.

61 T he Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “ Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.”

Entonces el Señor se volvió y miró a Pedro. Y recordó Pedro la palabra del Señor, cómo le había dicho: Antes que el gallo cante hoy, me negarás tres veces.

62 A nd he went out and wept bitterly.

Y saliendo fuera, lloró amargamente. Jesús escarnecido

63 N ow the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him,

Los hombres que tenían a Jesús bajo custodia, se burlaban de El y le golpeaban;

64 a nd they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, “ Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?”

y vendándole los ojos, le preguntaban, diciendo: Adivina, ¿quién es el que te ha golpeado ?

65 A nd they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming. Jesus before the Sanhedrin

También decían muchas otras cosas contra El, blasfemando. Jesús ante el concilio

66 W hen it was day, the Council of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their council chamber, saying,

Cuando se hizo de día, se reunió el concilio de los ancianos del pueblo, tanto los principales sacerdotes como los escribas, y llevaron a Jesús ante su concilio, diciendo:

67 “ If You are the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe;

Si tú eres el Cristo, dínoslo. Pero El les dijo: Si os lo digo, no creeréis;

68 a nd if I ask a question, you will not answer.

y si os pregunto, no responderéis.

69 B ut from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

Pero de ahora en adelante, el Hijo del Hombre estara sentado a la diestra del poder de Dios.

70 A nd they all said, “Are You the Son of God, then?” And He said to them, “ Yes, I am.”

Dijeron todos: Entonces, ¿tú eres el Hijo de Dios ? Y El les respondió: Vosotros decís que yo soy.

71 T hen they said, “What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”

Y ellos dijeron: ¿Qué necesidad tenemos ya de testimonio? Pues nosotros mismos lo hemos oído de su propia boca.
