1 “ If there is a dispute between men and they go to court, and the judges decide their case, and they justify the righteous and condemn the wicked,
Cuando haya pleito entre algunos, y acudan al tribunal para que los jueces los juzguen, éstos absolverán al justo, y condenarán al culpable.
2 t hen it shall be if the wicked man deserves to be beaten, the judge shall then make him lie down and be beaten in his presence with the number of stripes according to his guilt.
Y si el delincuente merece ser azotado, entonces el juez le hará echar en tierra, y le hará azotar en su presencia; según su delito será el número de azotes.
3 H e may beat him forty times but no more, so that he does not beat him with many more stripes than these and your brother is not degraded in your eyes.
Se podrá dar cuarenta azotes, no más; no sea que, si lo hieren con muchos azotes más que éstos, se sienta tu hermano envilecido delante de tus ojos.
4 “ You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing.
No pondrás bozal al buey cuando trille. La ley del levirato
5 “ When brothers live together and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the deceased shall not be married outside the family to a strange man. Her husband’s brother shall go in to her and take her to himself as wife and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.
Si varios hermanos habitan juntos, y muere alguno de ellos, y no tiene hijos, la mujer del muerto no se casará fuera con hombre extraño; su cuñado se llegará a ella, y la tomará por su mujer, y hará con ella parentesco.
6 I t shall be that the firstborn whom she bears shall assume the name of his dead brother, so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.
Y el primogénito que ella dé a luz sucederá en el nombre de su hermano muerto, para que el nombre de éste no sea borrado de Israel.
7 B ut if the man does not desire to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders and say, ‘My husband’s brother refuses to establish a name for his brother in Israel; he is not willing to perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.’
Y si el hombre no quiere tomar a su cuñada, irá entonces su cuñada a la puerta, a los ancianos, y dirá: Mi cuñado no quiere suscitar nombre en Israel a su hermano; no quiere emparentar conmigo.
8 T hen the elders of his city shall summon him and speak to him. And if he persists and says, ‘I do not desire to take her,’
Entonces los ancianos de aquella ciudad lo harán venir, y hablarán con él; y si él se levanta y dice: No quiero tomarla,
9 t hen his brother’s wife shall come to him in the sight of the elders, and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face; and she shall declare, ‘Thus it is done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.’
se acercará entonces su cuñada a él delante de los ancianos, y le quitará el calzado del pie, y escupirá delante de él, y hablará y dirá: Así será hecho al varón que no quiere edificar la casa de su hermano.
10 I n Israel his name shall be called, ‘The house of him whose sandal is removed.’
Y se le dará este nombre en Israel: La casa del descalzado.
11 “ If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals,
Si algunos riñen entre sí, y se acerca la mujer de uno para librar a su marido de mano del que le hiere, y alargando su mano le agarra de sus genitales,
12 t hen you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity.
le cortarás entonces la mano; no la perdonarás.
13 “ You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a large and a small.
No tendrás en tu bolsa pesa grande y pesa chica,
14 Y ou shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small.
ni tendrás en tu casa efa grande y efa pequeño.
15 Y ou shall have a full and just weight; you shall have a full and just measure, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
Pesa exacta y justa tendrás; efa cabal y justo tendrás, para que tus días sean prolongados sobre la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da.
16 F or everyone who does these things, everyone who acts unjustly is an abomination to the Lord your God.
Porque abominación es a Jehová tu Dios cualquiera que hace esto y cualquiera que hace injusticia. Orden de exterminar a Amalec
17 “ Remember what Amalek did to you along the way when you came out from Egypt,
Acuérdate de lo que hizo Amalec contigo en el camino, cuando salías de Egipto;
18 h ow he met you along the way and attacked among you all the stragglers at your rear when you were faint and weary; and he did not fear God.
de cómo te salió al encuentro en el camino, y te desbarató la retaguardia de todos los débiles que iban detrás de ti, cuando tú estabas cansado y trabajado; y no tuvo ningún temor de Dios.
19 T herefore it shall come about when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your surrounding enemies, in the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you must not forget.
Por tanto, cuando Jehová tu Dios te dé descanso de todos tus enemigos alrededor, en la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da por heredad para que la poseas, borrarás la memoria de Amalec de debajo del cielo; no lo olvides.
