1 T hen the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from heaven which had fallen to the earth; and the key of the bottomless pit was given to him.

El quinto ángel tocó la trompeta, y vi una estrella que cayó del cielo a la tierra; y se le dio la llave del pozo del abismo.

2 H e opened the bottomless pit, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke of the pit.

Y abrió el pozo del abismo, y subió del pozo una humareda como la de un gran horno; y se oscureció el sol y el aire por el humo del pozo.

3 T hen out of the smoke came locusts upon the earth, and power was given them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

Y del humo salieron langostas sobre la tierra; y se les dio poder, como tienen poder los escorpiones de la tierra.

4 T hey were told not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

Y se les dijo que no dañasen a la hierba de la tierra, ni a ninguna cosa verde, ni a ningún árbol, sino solamente a los hombres que no tienen el sello de Dios en sus frentes.

5 A nd they were not permitted to kill anyone, but to torment for five months; and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a man.

Y les fue concedido, no que los matasen, sino que los atormentasen durante cinco meses; y su tormento era como tormento de escorpión cuando hiere al hombre.

6 A nd in those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, and death flees from them.

Y en aquellos días los hombres buscarán la muerte, y de ningún modo la hallarán; y ansiarán morir, pero la muerte huirá de ellos.

7 T he appearance of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads appeared to be crowns like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.

El aspecto de las langostas era semejante a caballos preparados para la guerra; en las cabezas tenían como coronas de oro; sus caras eran como caras humanas;

8 T hey had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions.

tenían cabello como cabello de mujer; sus dientes eran como de leones;

9 T hey had breastplates like breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle.

tenían corazas como corazas de hierro; el ruido de sus alas era como el estruendo de muchos carros de caballos corriendo a la batalla;

10 T hey have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men for five months.

tenían colas como de escorpiones, y también aguijones; y en sus colas tenían poder para dañar a los hombres durante cinco meses.

11 T hey have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon.

Y tienen por rey sobre ellos al ángel del abismo, cuyo nombre en hebreo es Abadón, y en griego, Apolión.

12 T he first woe is past; behold, two woes are still coming after these things. The Sixth Trumpet—Army from the East

El primer ay pasó; he aquí, vienen aún dos ayes después de esto.

13 T hen the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

El sexto ángel tocó la trompeta, y oí una voz que salía de los cuatro cuernos del altar de oro que está delante de Dios,

14 o ne saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”

diciendo al sexto ángel que tenía la trompeta: Suelta a los cuatro ángeles que están atados junto al gran río Eufrates.

15 A nd the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released, so that they would kill a third of mankind.

Y fueron soltados los cuatro ángeles que estaban preparados para la hora, día, mes y año, a fin de matar a la tercera parte de los hombres.

16 T he number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.

Y el número de los ejércitos de los jinetes era de doscientos millones. Yo oí su número.

17 A nd this is how I saw in the vision the horses and those who sat on them: the riders had breastplates the color of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone; and the heads of the horses are like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths proceed fire and smoke and brimstone.

Así vi en la visión los caballos y a sus jinetes, los cuales tenían corazas de color de fuego, de jacinto y de azufre. Y las cabezas de los caballos eran como cabezas de leones; y de sus bocas salía fuego, humo y azufre.

18 A third of mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which proceeded out of their mouths.

Por estas tres plagas fue muerta la tercera parte de los hombres; por el fuego, el humo y el azufre que salían de sus bocas.

19 F or the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents and have heads, and with them they do harm.

Pues el poder de los caballos está en su boca y en sus colas; porque sus colas son semejantes a serpientes, pues tienen cabezas, y con ellas dañan.

20 T he rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk;

Y los demás hombres que no fueron muertos con estas plagas, no se arrepintieron de las obras de sus manos, para no adorar a los demonios, y a los ídolos de oro, de plata, de bronce, de piedra y de madera, los cuales no pueden ver, ni oír, ni andar;

21 a nd they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts.

y no se arrepintieron de sus homicidios, ni de sus hechicerías, ni de su fornicación, ni de sus hurtos.
