1 T hen Jacob summoned his sons and said, “Assemble yourselves that I may tell you what will befall you in the days to come.

2 “ Gather together and hear, O sons of Jacob; And listen to Israel your father.

Juntaos y oíd, hijos de Jacob, Y escuchad a vuestro padre Israel.

3 “ Reuben, you are my firstborn; My might and the beginning of my strength, Preeminent in dignity and preeminent in power.

Rubén, tú eres mi primogénito, mi fortaleza, y el principio de mi vigor; Principal en dignidad, principal en poder.

Presuroso como las aguas, no serás el principal, Por cuanto subiste al lecho de tu padre; Entonces te envileciste, subiendo a mi estrado.

Gad, ejército lo acometerá; Mas él acometerá al fin.

El pan de Aser será substancioso, Y él dará deleites al rey.

Neftalí, cierva suelta, Que pronunciará dichos hermosos.

Rama fructífera es José, Rama fructífera junto a una fuente, Cuyos vástagos se extienden sobre su muro.

Las bendiciones de tu padre Fueron mayores que las bendiciones de mis progenitores; Hasta el término de los collados eternos Serán sobre la cabeza de José, Y sobre la frente del que fue apartado de entre sus hermanos.
