1 I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

2 H e hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

Той ме е водил и завел в тъмнина, а не в светлина.

3 S urely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.

Навярно против мен обръща повторно ръката Си всеки ден.

4 M y flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.

Застари плътта и кожата ми; строши костите ми.

5 H e hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.

Издигна против мен укрепления; и ме окръжи с горест и труд.

6 H e hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.

Сложи ме да седна в тъмнина като отдавна умрелите.

7 H e hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

Обгради ме и не мога да изляза; отегчи веригите ми.

8 A lso when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.

Още и когато викам и ридая, Той отблъсва молитвата ми.

9 H e hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.

Огради с дялани камъни пътищата ми; изкриви пътеките ми.

10 H e was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.

Стана за мене като мечка в засада, като лъв в скришни места.

11 H e hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.

Отби настрана пътищата ми и ме разкъса; направи ме пуст.

12 H e hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

Опъна лъка Си и ме постави като прицел на стрела,

13 H e hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

заби в бъбреците ми стрелите на колчана Си.

14 I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

Станах за присмех на целия си народ и за песен на тях цял ден.

15 H e hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

Насити ме с горчивини; опи ме с пелин.

16 H e hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.

При това счупи зъбите ми с камъчета; покри ме с пепел.

17 A nd thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.

Отблъснал си душата ми далеч от мира; забравих благоденствието.

18 A nd I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord:

И казах: Погина увереността ми и надеждата ми като отдалечена от Господа.

19 r emembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

Помни скръбта ми и изгонването ми, пелина и жлъчката.

20 M y soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

Душата ми, като ги помни непрестанно, се е смирила дълбоко.

21 T his I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

Обаче това си наумявам, поради което имам и надежда:

22 I t is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

че по милост Господня ние не бяхме довършени, понеже не чезнат щедростите Му.

23 T hey are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Те се подновяват всяка сутрин; голяма е Твоята вярност.

24 T he Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

Господ е мой дял, казва душата ми; затова ще се надявам на Него.

25 T he Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

Благ е Господ към онези, които Го чакат, към душата, която Го търси.

26 I t is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

Добро е да се надява някой и тихо да очаква спасението от Господа.

27 I t is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

Добро е за човека да носи хомот в младостта си.

28 H e sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

Нека седи насаме и мълчи, когато Господ му го наложи.

29 H e putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

Нека сложи устата си в пръстта, дано има още надежда.

30 H e giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

Нека подаде бузата си на онзи, който го бие; нека се насити с укор.

31 F or the Lord will not cast off for ever:

Защото Господ не отхвърля довека.

32 b ut though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

Понеже, ако и да наскърби, Той пак ще и да се съжали според многото Си милости.

33 F or he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Защото не оскърбява, нито огорчава от сърце човешките деца.

34 T o crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

Да се тъпчат с крака всичките затворници на света,

35 t o turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,

да се извръща съдът на човека пред лицето на Всевишния,

36 t o subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

да се онеправдава човекът в делото му - Господ не одобрява това.

37 W ho is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

Кой ще е онзи, който казва нещо и то става, без да го е заповядал Господ?

38 O ut of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?

От устата на Всевишния не излизат ли и злото, и доброто?

39 W herefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

Защо би възроптал жив човек, всеки за наказанието на греховете си?

40 L et us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.

Нека издирим и изпитаме пътищата си и нека се върнем при Господа.

41 L et us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

Нека издигнем сърцата и ръцете си към Бога, Който е на небесата, и нека кажем:

42 W e have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.

Съгрешихме и отстъпихме; Ти не си ни простил.

43 T hou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

Покрил си се с гняв и си ни гонил; убил си, без да пощадиш.

44 T hou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.

Покрил си се с облак, за да не премине молитвата ни.

45 T hou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

Направил си ни като помия и смет сред племената.

46 A ll our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

Всичките ни неприятели отвориха широко устата си против нас.

47 F ear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

Страхът и пропастта ни налетяха, запустение и разорение.

48 M ine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

Водни потоци излива окото ми поради разорението на дъщерята на народа ми.

49 M ine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,

Окото ми пролива сълзи и не престава, защото няма отрада,

50 t ill the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.

докато не се наведе Господ и не погледне от небесата.

51 M ine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.

Окото ми прави душата ми да ме боли поради всички дъщери на града ми.

52 M ine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.

Онези, които са ми неприятели без причина, ме гонят непрестанно като птиче.

53 T hey have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

Отнеха живота ми в тъмницата и хвърлиха камък върху мене.

54 W aters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.

Води стигнаха над главата ми; казах: Свърших се.

55 I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon.

Призовах името Ти, Господи, от най-дълбоката тъмница.

56 T hou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

Ти чу гласа ми; не затваряй ухото Си за въздишките ми, за вопъла ми;

57 T hou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

приближил си се в деня, когато Те призовах, казал си: Не бой се.

58 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

Застъпил си се, Господи, за делото на душата ми; изкупил си живота ми.

59 O Lord, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.

Видял си, Господи, онеправданието ми; отсъди делото ми.

60 T hou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.

Видял си всичките им отмъщения и всичките им замисли против мене.

61 T hou hast heard their reproach, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me;

Ти си чул, Господи, укоряването им и всичките им замисли против мене,

62 t he lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

думите на онези, които се повдигат против мене цял ден.

63 B ehold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

Виж, когато седят и когато стават, аз съм им песен.

64 R ender unto them a recompence, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.

Ще им въздадеш, Господи, въздаяние според делата на ръцете им;

65 G ive them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.

ще им дадеш, като клетвата Си върху тях, окаменено сърце;

66 P ersecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the Lord.

ще ги прогониш с гняв и ще ги изтребиш изпод небесата Господни.
