1 A nd Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

Тогава Исус, Навиновият син, изпрати от Ситим двама мъже да съгледат тайно и им каза: Идете, разгледайте земята и Йерихон. И те отидоха, и като влязоха в къщата на една блудница на име Раав, престояха там.

2 A nd it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.

Но някой извести на йерихонския цар: През нощта тук дойдоха мъже от израелтяните, за да съгледат земята.

3 A nd the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.

И така, йерихонският цар изпрати хора до Раав да ѝ кажат: Изведи мъжете, които дойдоха при теб и които влязоха в къщата ти; защото са дошли да съгледат цялата земя.

4 A nd the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

Но жената скри двамата мъже и каза: Наистина мъжете дойдоха при мене, но не знаех откъде бяха.

5 a nd it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

Когато на мръкване щяха да се затворят портите, мъжете излязоха. Не зная къде отидоха, но ако побързате след тях, скоро ще ги настигнете.

6 B ut she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

Жената беше качила мъжете на покрива на къщата и ги беше скрила в ленените снопи, които беше наредила там.

7 A nd the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

И изпратените мъже ги гониха по пътя, който отива за Йордан, като стигнаха до бродовете. А портата беше затворена веднага след като преследвачите излязоха от града.

8 A nd before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;

А преди мъжете да си легнат, Раав се качи при тях на покрива на къщата

9 a nd she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

и им каза: Зная, че Господ ви даде тази земя, и страх от вас ни е обзел, и всичките жители на тази земя примряха от страх пред вас;

10 F or we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

понеже чухме как Господ е пресушил водата на Червеното море пред вас, когато сте излезли от Египет, и какво сте направили на двамата аморейски царе, които бяха оттатък Йордан - на Сион и на Ог, които сте изтребили.

11 A nd as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

Като чухме, сърцата ни примряха и падна духът на всички поради слуха за вас; защото Господ, вашият Бог, Той е Бог на небето горе и на земята долу.

12 N ow therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token:

И сега, моля ви, закълнете ми се в Господа, че както аз показах милост към вас, ще покажете и вие милост към бащиния ми дом; и ми дайте някакъв знак в уверение на това,

13 a nd that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

че ще запазите живота на баща ми, на майка ми, на братята ми и на сестрите ми, и всичко, което имат, и че ще избавите живота ни от смърт.

14 A nd the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the Lord hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

Мъжете ѝ отговориха: Ние сме готови да умрем вместо вас - само не издавайте това наше дело; и когато Господ ни предаде земята, ще ти покажем милост и вярност.

15 T hen she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

Тогава тя ги спусна с въже през прозореца; защото къщата ѝ беше на градската стена и тя живееше на стената,

16 A nd she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.

и им каза: Идете в гората, за да не ви срещнат преследвачите, и се крийте там три дни, докато те се върнат; и после продължете пътя си.

17 A nd the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

Тогава мъжете ѝ казаха: Ето как ще бъдем свободни от тази клетва, с която ти ни накара да се закълнем.

18 B ehold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

Когато влезем в земята, да вържеш това въже от червена прежда на прозореца, през който ти ни спусна; а баща си и майка си, братята си и целия си бащин дом да събереш при себе си в къщи.

19 A nd it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

Всеки, който би излязъл извън вратата на къщата ти, неговата кръв ще бъде на главата му, а ние ще бъдем свободни от клетвата си; но на всеки, който остане с тебе в къщата, неговата кръв ще бъде на нашата глава, ако някой вдигне ръка против него.

20 A nd if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

Обаче, ако издадеш нашия план, тогава ще бъдем свободни от клетвата, с която ти ни накара да се закълнем.

21 A nd she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

А тя каза: Да бъде според както казвате. И ги изпрати и те си отидоха; и тя върза червеното въже на прозореца.

22 A nd they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.

След като тръгнаха, те отидоха в гората и останаха там три дни, докато се върнаха преследвачите; а преследвачите ги търсиха по целия път, но не ги намериха.

23 S o the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:

Тогава двамата мъже се върнаха и като слязоха от гората, преминаха Йордан и дойдоха при Исус, Навиновия син; и му разказаха всичко, което им се беше случило.

24 a nd they said unto Joshua, Truly the Lord hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

Те казаха на Исус: Наистина Господ предаде в ръцете ни цялата земя; а при това всичките местни жители примираха от страх пред нас.
