1 V i ricordo, fratelli, il vangelo che vi ho annunciato, che voi avete anche ricevuto, nel quale state anche saldi,

And now let me remind you, brethren, of the Gospel (the glad tidings of salvation) which I proclaimed to you, which you welcomed and accepted and upon which your faith rests,

2 m ediante il quale siete salvati, purché lo riteniate quale ve l’ho annunciato; a meno che non abbiate creduto invano.

And by which you are saved, if you hold fast and keep firmly what I preached to you, unless you believed at first without effect and all for nothing.

3 P oiché vi ho prima di tutto trasmesso, come l’ho ricevuto anch’io, che Cristo morì per i nostri peccati, secondo le Scritture;

For I passed on to you first of all what I also had received, that Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,

4 c he fu seppellito; che è stato risuscitato il terzo giorno, secondo le Scritture;

That He was buried, that He arose on the third day as the Scriptures foretold,

5 c he apparve a Cefa, poi ai dodici.

And that He appeared to Cephas (Peter), then to the Twelve.

6 P oi apparve a più di cinquecento fratelli in una volta, dei quali la maggior parte rimane ancora in vita e alcuni sono morti.

Then later He showed Himself to more than five hundred brethren at one time, the majority of whom are still alive, but some have fallen asleep.

7 P oi apparve a Giacomo, poi a tutti gli apostoli;

Afterward He was seen by James, then by all the apostles (the special messengers),

8 e , ultimo di tutti, apparve anche a me, come all’aborto;

And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one prematurely and born dead '> no better than an unperfected fetus among living men].

9 p erché io sono il minimo degli apostoli e non sono degno di essere chiamato apostolo, perché ho perseguitato la chiesa di Dio.

For I am the least of the apostles, who am not fit or deserving to be called an apostle, because I once wronged and pursued and molested the church of God.

10 M a per la grazia di Dio io sono quello che sono; e la grazia sua verso di me non è stata vana; anzi, ho faticato più di tutti loro; non io però, ma la grazia di Dio che è con me.

But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them, though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me.

11 S ia dunque io o siano loro, così noi predichiamo, e così voi avete creduto. La risurrezione dai morti

So, whether then it was I or they, this is what we preach and this is what you believed.

12 O ra se si predica che Cristo è stato risuscitato dai morti, come mai alcuni tra voi dicono che non c’è risurrezione dei morti?

But now if Christ (the Messiah) is preached as raised from the dead, how is it that some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13 M a se non vi è risurrezione dei morti, neppure Cristo è stato risuscitato;

But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not risen;

14 e se Cristo non è stato risuscitato, vana dunque è la nostra predicazione e vana pure è la vostra fede.

And if Christ has not risen, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is devoid of truth and is fruitless (without effect, empty, imaginary, and unfounded).

15 N oi siamo anche trovati falsi testimoni di Dio, poiché abbiamo testimoniato di Dio che egli ha risuscitato il Cristo; il quale egli non ha risuscitato, se è vero che i morti non risuscitano.

We are even discovered to be misrepresenting God, for we testified of Him that He raised Christ, Whom He did not raise in case it is true that the dead are not raised.

16 D ifatti, se i morti non risuscitano, neppure Cristo è stato risuscitato;

For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised;

17 e se Cristo non è stato risuscitato, vana è la vostra fede; voi siete ancora nei vostri peccati.

And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is mere delusion, and you are still in your sins;

18 A nche quelli che sono morti in Cristo sono dunque periti.

And further, those who have died in '> spiritual fellowship and union with] Christ have perished (are lost)!

19 S e abbiamo sperato in Cristo per questa vita soltanto, noi siamo i più miseri fra tutti gli uomini.

If we who are in Christ have hope only in this life and that is all, then we are of all people most miserable and to be pitied.

20 M a ora Cristo è stato risuscitato dai morti, primizia di quelli che sono morti.

But the fact is that Christ (the Messiah) has been raised from the dead, and He became the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

21 I nfatti, poiché per mezzo di un uomo è venuta la morte, così anche per mezzo di un uomo è venuta la risurrezione dei morti.

For since through a man that death also through a Man that the resurrection of the dead.

22 P oiché, come tutti muoiono in Adamo, così anche in Cristo saranno tutti vivificati;

For just as '> union of nature] in Adam all people die, so also '> union of nature] shall all in Christ be made alive.

23 m a ciascuno al suo turno: Cristo, la primizia; poi quelli che sono di Cristo, alla sua venuta;

But each in his own rank and turn: Christ (the Messiah) the firstfruits, then those who are Christ’s at His coming.

24 p oi verrà la fine, quando consegnerà il regno nelle mani di Dio Padre, dopo che avrà ridotto al nulla ogni principato, ogni potestà e ogni potenza.

After that comes the end (the completion), when He delivers over the kingdom to God the Father after rendering inoperative and abolishing every rule and every authority and power.

25 P oiché bisogna che egli regni finché abbia messo tutti i suoi nemici sotto i suoi piedi.

For must be King and reign until He has put all enemies under His feet.

26 L ’ultimo nemico che sarà distrutto sarà la morte.

The last enemy to be subdued and abolished is death.

27 D ifatti, Dio ha posto ogni cosa sotto i suoi piedi; ma quando dice che ogni cosa gli è sottoposta, è chiaro che colui che gli ha sottoposto ogni cosa ne è eccettuato.

For He has put all things in subjection under His feet. But when it says, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that He is excepted Who does the subjecting of all things to Him.

28 Q uando ogni cosa gli sarà stata sottoposta, allora anche il Figlio stesso sarà sottoposto a colui che gli ha sottoposto ogni cosa, affinché Dio sia tutto in tutti.

However, when everything is subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will also subject Himself to Who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.

29 A ltrimenti che faranno quelli che sono battezzati per i morti? Se i morti non risuscitano affatto, perché dunque sono battezzati per loro?

Otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized in behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?

30 E perché anche noi siamo ogni momento in pericolo?

why do I live in peril every hour?

31 O gni giorno sono esposto alla morte; sì, fratelli, com’è vero che siete il mio vanto in Cristo Gesù, nostro Signore.

by the pride which I have in you in '> fellowship and union with] Christ Jesus our Lord, that I die daily.

32 S e soltanto per fini umani ho lottato con le belve a Efeso, che utile ne ho? Se i morti non risuscitano, «mangiamo e beviamo, perché domani morremo».

What do I gain if, merely from the human point of view, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we will be dead.

33 N on v’ingannate: «Le cattive compagnie corrompono i buoni costumi».

Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.

34 R idiventate sobri per davvero e non peccate; perché alcuni non hanno conoscenza di Dio; lo dico a vostra vergogna.

Awake '> from your drunken stupor and return] to sober sense and your right minds, and sin no more. For some of you have not the knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.

35 M a qualcuno dirà: «Come risuscitano i morti? E con quale corpo ritornano?»

But someone will say, How can the dead be raised? With what body will they come forth?

36 I nsensato, quello che tu semini non è vivificato se prima non muore;

You foolish man! Every time you plant seed, you sow something that does not come to life unless it dies first.

37 e quanto a ciò che tu semini, non semini il corpo che deve nascere, ma un granello nudo, di frumento per esempio, o di qualche altro seme;

Nor is the seed you sow then the body which it is going to have, but it is a naked kernel, perhaps of wheat or some of the rest of the grains.

38 e Dio gli dà un corpo come lo ha stabilito; a ogni seme, il proprio corpo.

But God gives to it the body that He plans and sees fit, and to each kind of seed a body of its own.

39 N on ogni carne è uguale; ma altra è la carne degli uomini, altra la carne delle bestie, altra quella degli uccelli, altra quella dei pesci.

For all flesh is not the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for beasts, another for birds, and another for fish.

40 C i sono anche dei corpi celesti e dei corpi terrestri; ma altro è lo splendore dei celesti e altro quello dei terrestri.

There are heavenly bodies (sun, moon, and stars) and there are earthly bodies (men, animals, and plants), but the beauty and glory of the heavenly bodies is of one kind, while the beauty and glory of earthly bodies is a different kind.

41 A ltro è lo splendore del sole, altro lo splendore della luna e altro lo splendore delle stelle; perché un astro è differente dall’altro in splendore.

The sun is glorious in one way, the moon is glorious in another way, and the stars are glorious in their own way; for one star differs from and surpasses another in its beauty and brilliance.

42 C osì è pure della risurrezione dei morti. Il corpo è seminato corruttibile e risuscita incorruttibile;

So it is with the resurrection of the dead. that is sown is perishable and decays, but that is resurrected is imperishable (immune to decay, immortal).

43 è seminato ignobile e risuscita glorioso; è seminato debole e risuscita potente;

It is sown in dishonor and humiliation; it is raised in honor and glory. It is sown in infirmity and weakness; it is resurrected in strength and endued with power.

44 è seminato corpo naturale e risuscita corpo spirituale. Se c’è un corpo naturale, c’è anche un corpo spirituale.

It is sown a natural (physical) body; it is raised a supernatural (a spiritual) body. there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body.

45 C osì anche sta scritto: «Il primo uomo, Adamo, divenne anima vivente»; l’ultimo Adamo è spirito vivificante.

Thus it is written, The first man Adam became a living being (an individual personality); the last Adam (Christ) became a life-giving Spirit.

46 P erò ciò che è spirituale non viene prima; ma prima, ciò che è naturale, poi viene ciò che è spirituale.

But it is not the spiritual life which came first, but the physical and then the spiritual.

47 I l primo uomo, tratto dalla terra, è terrestre; il secondo uomo è dal cielo.

The first man from out of earth, made of dust (earthly-minded); the second Man the Lord from out of heaven.

48 Q ual è il terrestre, tali sono anche i terrestri; e quale è il celeste, tali saranno anche i celesti.

Now those who are made of the dust are like him who was first made of the dust (earthly-minded); and as is from heaven, so also who are of heaven (heavenly-minded).

49 E come abbiamo portato l’immagine del terrestre, così porteremo anche l’immagine del celeste.

And just as we have borne the image of dust, so shall we and so let us also bear the image of heaven.

50 O ra io dico questo, fratelli, che carne e sangue non possono ereditare il regno di Dio; né i corpi che si decompongono possono ereditare l’incorruttibilità.

But I tell you this, brethren, flesh and blood cannot inherit or share in the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable (that which is decaying) inherit or share in the imperishable (the immortal).

51 E cco, io vi dico un mistero: non tutti morremo, ma tutti saremo trasformati,

Take notice! I tell you a mystery (a secret truth, an event decreed by the hidden purpose or counsel of God). We shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed (transformed)

52 i n un momento, in un batter d’occhio, al suono dell’ultima tromba. Perché la tromba squillerà, e i morti risusciteranno incorruttibili, e noi saremo trasformati.

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet call. For a trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable (free and immune from decay), and we shall be changed (transformed).

53 I nfatti bisogna che questo corruttibile rivesta incorruttibilità e che questo mortale rivesta immortalità.

For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality (freedom from death).

54 Q uando poi questo corruttibile avrà rivestito incorruttibilità e questo mortale avrà rivestito immortalità, allora sarà adempiuta la parola che è scritta: «La morte è stata sommersa nella vittoria».

And when this perishable puts on the imperishable and this that was capable of dying puts on freedom from death, then shall be fulfilled the Scripture that says, Death is swallowed up (utterly vanquished forever) in and unto victory.

55 « O morte, dov’è la tua vittoria? O morte, dov’è il tuo dardo?»

O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?

56 O ra il dardo della morte è il peccato, e la forza del peccato è la legge;

Now sin is the sting of death, and sin exercises its power through the Law.

57 m a ringraziato sia Dio, che ci dà la vittoria per mezzo del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo.

But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 P erciò, fratelli miei carissimi, state saldi, incrollabili, sempre abbondanti nell’opera del Signore, sapendo che la vostra fatica non è vana nel Signore.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile.
