1 Q uando egli scese dal monte, una gran folla lo seguì.

When Jesus came down from the mountain, great throngs followed Him.

2 E d ecco un lebbroso, avvicinatosi, gli si prostrò davanti, dicendo: «Signore, se vuoi, tu puoi purificarmi».

And behold, a leper came up to Him and, prostrating himself, worshiped Him, saying, Lord, if You are willing, You are able to cleanse me by curing me.

3 G esù, tesa la mano, lo toccò dicendo: «Lo voglio, sii purificato». E in quell’istante egli fu purificato dalla lebbra.

And He reached out His hand and touched him, saying, I am willing; be cleansed by being cured. And instantly his leprosy was cured and cleansed.

4 G esù gli disse: «Guarda di non dirlo a nessuno, ma va’, mostrati al sacerdote e fa’ l’offerta che Mosè ha prescritto, e ciò serva loro di testimonianza». Guarigione del servo di un centurione

And Jesus said to him, See that you tell nothing about this to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, for a testimony and as an evidence to the people.

5 Q uando Gesù fu entrato in Capernaum, un centurione venne da lui, pregandolo e dicendo:

As Jesus went into Capernaum, a centurion came up to Him, begging Him,

6 « Signore, il mio servo giace in casa paralitico e soffre moltissimo».

And saying, Lord, my servant boy is lying at the house paralyzed and distressed with intense pains.

7 G esù gli disse: «Io verrò e lo guarirò».

And Jesus said to him, I will come and restore him.

8 M a il centurione rispose: «Signore, io non sono degno che tu entri sotto il mio tetto, ma di’ soltanto una parola e il mio servo sarà guarito.

But the centurion replied to Him, Lord, I am not worthy or fit to have You come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant boy will be cured.

9 P erché anch’io sono un uomo sottoposto ad altri e ho sotto di me dei soldati; e dico a uno: “Va’”, ed egli va; e a un altro: “Vieni”, ed egli viene; e al mio servo: “Fa’ questo”, ed egli lo fa».

For I also am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my slave, Do this, and he does it.

10 G esù, udito questo, ne restò meravigliato, e disse a quelli che lo seguivano: «Io vi dico in verità che in nessuno, in Israele, ho trovato una fede così grande!

When Jesus heard him, He marveled and said to those who followed Him '> who adhered steadfastly to Him, conforming to His example in living and, if need be, in dying also], I tell you truly, I have not found so much faith as this with anyone, even in Israel.

11 E io vi dico che molti verranno da Oriente e da Occidente e si metteranno a tavola con Abraamo, Isacco e Giacobbe nel regno dei cieli,

I tell you, many will come from east and west, and will sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,

12 m a i figli del regno saranno gettati nelle tenebre di fuori. Là ci sarà pianto e stridor di denti».

While the sons and heirs of the kingdom will be driven out into the darkness outside, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.

13 G esù disse al centurione: «Va’ ti sia fatto come hai creduto». E il {suo} servitore fu guarito in quella stessa ora. Guarigione della suocera di Pietro

Then to the centurion Jesus said, Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed. And the servant boy was restored to health at that very moment.

14 P oi Gesù, entrato nella casa di Pietro, vide che la suocera di lui era a letto con la febbre;

And when Jesus went into Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying ill with a fever.

15 e d egli le toccò la mano e la febbre la lasciò. Ella si alzò e si mise a servirlo.

He touched her hand and the fever left her; and she got up and began waiting on Him.

16 P oi, venuta la sera, gli presentarono molti indemoniati; ed egli scacciò gli spiriti con la parola e guarì tutti i malati,

When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick.

17 a ffinché si adempisse quel che fu detto per bocca del profeta Isaia: «Egli ha preso le nostre infermità e ha portato le nostre malattie». Come seguire Gesù

And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took '> in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases.

18 G esù, vedendo una folla intorno a sé, comandò che si passasse all’altra riva.

Now Jesus, when He saw the great throngs around Him, gave orders to cross to the other side.

19 A llora uno scriba, avvicinatosi, gli disse: «Maestro, io ti seguirò dovunque tu andrai».

And a scribe came up and said to Him, Master, I will accompany You wherever You go.

20 G esù gli disse: «Le volpi hanno delle tane e gli uccelli del cielo hanno dei nidi, ma il Figlio dell’uomo non ha dove posare il capo».

And Jesus replied to him, Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have lodging places, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.

21 U n altro dei {suoi} discepoli gli disse: «Signore, permettimi di andare prima a seppellire mio padre».

Another of the disciples said to Him, Lord, let me first go and bury '> care for till death] my father.

22 M a Gesù gli disse: «Seguimi, e lascia che i morti seppelliscano i loro morti». Gesù calma la tempesta

But Jesus said to him, Follow Me, and leave the dead '> in sin] to bury their own dead.

23 G esù salì sulla barca e i suoi discepoli lo seguirono.

And after He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.

24 E d ecco si sollevò in mare una gran burrasca, tanto che la barca era coperta dalle onde; ma egli dormiva.

And suddenly, behold, there arose a violent storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered up by the waves; but He was sleeping.

25 E , avvicinatisi, lo svegliarono dicendo: «Signore, salvaci, siamo perduti!»

And they went and awakened Him, saying, Lord, rescue and preserve us! We are perishing!

26 E d egli disse loro: «Perché avete paura, o gente di poca fede?» Allora, alzatosi, sgridò i venti e il mare, e si fece gran bonaccia.

And He said to them, Why are you timid and afraid, O you of little faith? Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great and wonderful calm ( a perfect peaceableness).

27 E quegli uomini si meravigliarono e dicevano: «Che uomo è mai questo, che anche i venti e il mare gli ubbidiscono?» Guarigione di due indemoniati

And the men were stunned with bewildered wonder and marveled, saying, What kind of Man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!

28 Q uando fu giunto all’altra riva, nel paese dei Gadareni, gli vennero incontro due indemoniati, usciti dai sepolcri, così furiosi che nessuno poteva passare per quella via.

And when He arrived at the other side in the country of the Gadarenes, two men under the control of demons went to meet Him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce and savage that no one was able to pass that way.

29 E d ecco si misero a gridare: «Che c’è fra noi e te,, Figlio di Dio? Sei venuto qua prima del tempo a tormentarci?»

And behold, they shrieked and screamed, What have You to do with us, Jesus, Son of God? Have You come to torment us before the appointed time?

30 L ontano da loro c’era un grande branco di porci al pascolo.

Now at some distance from there a drove of many hogs was grazing.

31 E i demòni lo pregavano dicendo: «Se tu ci scacci, mandaci in quel branco di porci».

And the demons begged Him, If You drive us out, send us into the drove of hogs.

32 E gli disse loro: «Andate». Ed essi, usciti, se ne andarono nei porci; e tutto il branco si gettò a precipizio giù nel mare e morirono nell’acqua.

And He said to them, Begone! So they came out and went into the hogs, and behold, the whole drove rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the water.

33 Q uelli che li custodivano fuggirono e, andati nella città, raccontarono ogni cosa e il fatto degli indemoniati.

The herdsmen fled and went into the town and reported everything, including what had happened to the men under the power of demons.

34 T utta la città uscì incontro a Gesù e, come lo videro, lo pregarono che si allontanasse dal loro territorio.

And behold, the whole town went out to meet Jesus; and as soon as they saw Him, they begged Him to depart from their locality.
