1 A llora Gesù fu condotto dallo Spirito nel deserto, per essere tentato dal diavolo.

Then Jesus was led (guided) by the Spirit into the wilderness (desert) to be tempted (tested and tried) by the devil.

2 E , dopo aver digiunato quaranta giorni e quaranta notti, alla fine ebbe fame.

And He went without food for forty days and forty nights, and later He was hungry.

3 E il tentatore, avvicinatosi, gli disse: «Se tu sei Figlio di Dio, ordina che queste pietre diventino pani».

And the tempter came and said to Him, If You are God’s Son, command these stones to be made '> loaves of] bread.

4 M a egli rispose: «Sta scritto: “Non di pane soltanto vivrà l’uomo, ma di ogni parola che proviene dalla bocca di Dio” ».

But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.

5 A llora il diavolo lo portò con sé nella città santa, lo pose sul pinnacolo del tempio,

Then the devil took Him into the holy city and placed Him on a turret (pinnacle, gable) of the temple sanctuary.

6 e gli disse: «Se tu sei Figlio di Dio, gettati giù; poiché sta scritto: “Egli darà ordini ai suoi angeli a tuo riguardo” e “Essi ti porteranno sulle loro mani, perché tu non urti col piede contro una pietra” ».

And he said to Him, If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, He will give His angels charge over you, and they will bear you up on their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

7 G esù gli rispose: «È altresì scritto: “Non tentare il Signore Dio tuo” ».

Jesus said to him, On the other hand, it is written also, You shall not tempt, test thoroughly, or try exceedingly the Lord your God.

8 D i nuovo il diavolo lo portò con sé sopra un monte altissimo, gli mostrò tutti i regni del mondo e la loro gloria e gli disse:

Again, the devil took Him up on a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory (the splendor, magnificence, preeminence, and excellence) of them.

9 « Tutte queste cose ti darò, se tu ti prostri e mi adori».

And he said to Him, These things, all taken together, I will give You, if You will prostrate Yourself before me and do homage and worship me.

10 A llora Gesù gli disse: «Vattene, Satana, poiché sta scritto: “Adora il Signore Dio tuo e a lui solo rendi il culto” ».

Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan! For it has been written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve.

11 A llora il diavolo lo lasciò, ed ecco degli angeli si avvicinarono a lui e lo servivano. Inizio dell’attività di Gesù a Capernaum

Then the devil departed from Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

12 G esù, udito che Giovanni era stato messo in prigione, si ritirò in Galilea.

Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested and put in prison, He withdrew into Galilee.

13 E , lasciata Nazaret, venne ad abitare in Capernaum, città sul mare, ai confini di Zabulon e di Neftali,

And leaving Nazareth, He went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the country of Zebulun and Naphtali—

14 a ffinché si adempisse quello che era stato detto dal profeta Isaia:

That what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be brought to pass:

15 « Il paese di Zabulon e il paese di Neftali, sulla via del mare, di là dal Giordano, la Galilea dei pagani,

The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, in the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles '> peoples who are not of Israel]—

16 i l popolo che stava nelle tenebre, ha visto una gran luce; su quelli che erano nella contrada e nell’ombra della morte una luce si è levata».

The people who sat (dwelt enveloped) in darkness have seen a great Light, and for those who sat in the land and shadow of death Light has dawned.

17 D a quel tempo Gesù cominciò a predicare e a dire: «Ravvedetevi, perché il regno dei cieli è vicino». Chiamata dei primi discepoli

From that time Jesus began to preach, crying out, Repent ( change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

18 M entre camminava lungo il mare della Galilea, Gesù vide due fratelli, Simone detto Pietro e Andrea, suo fratello, i quali gettavano la rete in mare, perché erano pescatori.

As He was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He noticed two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, throwing a dragnet into the sea, for they were fishermen.

19 E disse loro: «Venite dietro a me e vi farò pescatori di uomini».

And He said to them, Come after Me, follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!

20 E d essi, lasciate subito le reti, lo seguirono.

At once they left their nets and became His disciples.

21 P assato oltre, vide altri due fratelli, Giacomo di Zebedeo e Giovanni, suo fratello, i quali nella barca con Zebedeo, loro padre, rassettavano le loro reti; e li chiamò.

And going on further from there He noticed two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets and putting them right; and He called them.

22 E ssi, lasciando subito la barca e il padre loro, lo seguirono. Missione di Gesù in Galilea

At once they left the boat and their father and joined Jesus as disciples.

23 G esù andava attorno per tutta la Galilea, insegnando nelle loro sinagoghe e predicando il vangelo del regno, guarendo ogni malattia e ogni infermità tra il popolo.

And He went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every weakness and infirmity among the people.

24 L a sua fama si sparse per tutta la Siria; gli recarono tutti i malati colpiti da varie infermità e da vari dolori, indemoniati, epilettici, paralitici; ed egli li guarì.

So the report of Him spread throughout all Syria, and they brought Him all who were sick, those afflicted with various diseases and torments, those under the power of demons, and epileptics, and paralyzed people, and He healed them.

25 G randi folle lo seguirono dalla Galilea, dalla Decapoli, da Gerusalemme, dalla Giudea e da oltre il Giordano.

And great crowds joined and accompanied Him about, coming from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from the other side of the Jordan.
