1 L a mujer sabia edifica su casa, pero la necia la derriba con sus propias manos.

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

2 E l que teme al Señor sigue su camino recto, pero el que anda en malos pasos lo desdeña.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

3 L os labios del necio derraman soberbia; los labios de los sabios son su protección.

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

4 S in bueyes el granero no se llena; gracias a su fuerza, hay abundancia de pan.

Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

5 E l testigo verdadero no miente; el testigo falso esparce calumnias.

A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

6 E l burlón busca la sabiduría y no da con ella; el hombre entendido la encuentra fácilmente.

A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

7 N o te juntes con gente necia, porque nada aprenderás de lo que te digan.

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

8 E l que es sabio y astuto sabe por dónde va; a los necios los engaña su propia necedad.

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

9 L os necios se burlan del pecado; los hombres rectos se ganan la buena voluntad.

Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

10 C ada corazón conoce su propia amargura, y ningún extraño participa de su alegría.

The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

11 L a mansión de los impíos será derribada, pero la choza de los hombres rectos permanece.

The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

12 H ay caminos que el hombre considera rectos, pero que al final conducen a la muerte.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

13 H asta de reírse duele el corazón; a veces la alegría acaba en congoja.

Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

14 E l corazón necio se harta de sus caminos, pero el hombre de bien va feliz por los suyos.

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

15 E l inexperto cree todo lo que oye; el que es astuto mira por dónde anda.

The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

16 E l sabio teme a Dios y se aparta del mal, pero el necio se muestra temerario y engreído.

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

17 E l que fácilmente se enoja comete locuras; el hombre perverso es aborrecido.

He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

18 L a necedad es la herencia de los simplones; los astutos se cubren de conocimientos.

The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

19 L os malvados se inclinarán ante los buenos, y los impíos comparecerán ante los justos.

The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 A l pobre lo odian hasta sus amigos; al rico, todo el mundo lo quiere.

The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

21 E l que humilla a su prójimo comete un pecado; ¡feliz de aquél que se compadece de los pobres!

He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

22 L os que urden el mal pierden el rumbo; los que piensan el bien encuentran amor y verdad.

Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

23 T oda labor rinde sus frutos, pero hablar por hablar empobrece.

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

24 L as riquezas son la corona de los sabios; la corona de los necios es su necedad.

The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

25 E l testigo verdadero te salva la vida; el testigo falso te difama.

A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

26 E l temor del Señor infunde plena confianza, y da esperanza a nuestros hijos.

In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

27 E l temor del Señor es un manantial de vida, que nos aparta de los lazos de la muerte.

The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

28 U n pueblo numeroso es la gloria del rey; un pueblo escaso es la debilidad del príncipe.

In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

29 E nojo lento, gran inteligencia; espíritu impaciente, demasiada necedad.

He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

30 U n corazón apacible infunde vida al cuerpo, pero la envidia corroe hasta los huesos.

A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

31 O primir al pobre es afrentar al Creador; tener misericordia del pobre es honrar a Dios.

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

32 A l malvado lo pierde su propia maldad; el justo, aun en la muerte mantiene la esperanza.

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

33 L a sabiduría reposa en el corazón prudente, pero entre los necios es desconocida.

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

34 U n pueblo justo es un gran pueblo, pero el pecado deshonra a las naciones.

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

35 E l rey es amable con el siervo inteligente, pero se enoja con el que lo avergüenza.

The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
