1 ¡ Alaben al Señor, invoquen su nombre! ¡Que los pueblos reconozcan sus obras!

O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

2 ¡ Canten, sí, cántenle salmos! ¡Proclamen todas sus maravillas!

Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

3 ¡ Regocíjense en su santo nombre! ¡Alégrense de corazón los que buscan al Señor!

Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

4 ¡ Busquen el poder del Señor! ¡Busquen siempre a Dios!

Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

5 ¡ Recuerden sus grandes maravillas, sus hechos prodigiosos y sus sabias sentencias!

Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

6 U stedes son los descendientes de Abrahán; ustedes son los hijos de Jacob, sus escogidos.

O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

7 E l Señor es nuestro Dios; en toda la tierra prevalecen sus juicios.

He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

8 N unca se olvida de su pacto, de la palabra que dictó para mil generaciones.

He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

9 F ue un acuerdo que hizo con Abrahán, y que lo confirmó con Isaac.

Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

10 C on Jacob lo estableció como decreto; con Israel lo hizo un pacto duradero

And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

11 c uando dijo: «Te daré la tierra de Canaán como la herencia que te corresponde.»

Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:

12 E llos no eran numerosos; eran unos simples forasteros.

When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.

13 A ndaban de nación en nación, y de un reino a otro reino;

When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;

14 p ero Dios no dejó que fueran agraviados, sino que por ellos castigó a los reyes

He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;

15 y dijo: «¡No toquen a mis ungidos! ¡No les hagan daño a mis profetas!»

Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

16 D ios hizo que hubiera hambre en la tierra, y el trigo para el pan quedó destruido.

Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.

17 P ero antes envió a uno de sus hombres; envió a José, que fue vendido como esclavo.

He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:

18 L os egipcios le pusieron grilletes en los pies, y lo arrojaron tras los hierros de la cárcel.

Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:

19 P ero finalmente se cumplieron sus dichos, aunque la palabra de Dios lo puso a prueba.

Until the time that his word came: the word of the Lord tried him.

20 E l rey ordenó que le abrieran la cárcel; el señor que gobierna los pueblos lo liberó.

The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

21 L o nombró señor de su casa y lo puso a cargo de sus posesiones.

He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:

22 L e dio poder para frenar a los grandes, y sabiduría para enseñar a los sabios.

To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.

23 F ue así como Israel llegó a Egipto, como Jacob llegó a vivir en la tierra de Cam.

Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

24 P ero el pueblo aumentó en número y se hizo más fuerte que los egipcios.

And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

25 E l corazón de los egipcios se llenó de odio, y decidieron hacerle mal a su pueblo.

He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.

26 P ero Dios envió a su siervo Moisés, lo mismo que a Aarón, su escogido.

He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.

27 D ios les dio el poder de hacer señales, y de realizar prodigios en la tierra de Cam.

They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

28 D ejó caer sobre Egipto densa oscuridad, pero los egipcios no acataron su palabra.

He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.

29 C onvirtió las aguas en sangre, y todos los peces murieron.

He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

30 V inieron entonces muchísimas ranas, que infestaron las cámaras reales.

Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.

31 D ios habló, y vinieron enjambres de moscas, y las casas se inundaron de piojos.

He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.

32 D ios dejó caer granizo como lluvia, y rayos de fuego rasgaron la tierra.

He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

33 D estrozó los viñedos, secó las higueras, y desgajó los árboles de su país.

He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.

34 D ios habló otra vez, y vinieron langostas, y como plaga llegó el pulgón,

He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,

35 y se comió la hierba del país y acabó con los frutos de su tierra.

And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

36 H irió de muerte a todos sus primogénitos, a las primicias de su fuerza varonil.

He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

37 S u pueblo salió cargado de oro y plata; en sus tribus no había un solo enfermo.

He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

38 C uando el pueblo salió, los egipcios se alegraron, pues ante ellos sentían un profundo terror.

Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.

39 E n el desierto los cubría una nube, y un fuego los alumbraba de noche.

He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.

40 P idieron comida, y Dios les mandó codornices; sació su hambre con el pan que cayó del cielo.

The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

41 D ios partió la peña, y fluyeron aguas que corrieron como ríos por el desierto.

He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.

42 D ios se acordó de su santa palabra, y de su juramento a Abrahán, su siervo.

For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.

43 S u pueblo salió con gran gozo; sus elegidos salieron con gran júbilo.

And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:

44 D ios les dio las tierras de otras naciones, lo mismo que los frutos de esos pueblos,

And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;

45 p ara que obedecieran sus preceptos y cumplieran todos sus mandatos. ¡Aleluya!

That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the Lord.
