1 » Yo soy la vid verdadera, y mi Padre es el labrador.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 T odo pámpano que en mí no lleva fruto, lo quitará; y todo aquel que lleva fruto, lo limpiará, para que lleve más fruto.

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 U stedes ya están limpios, por la palabra que les he hablado.

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 P ermanezcan en mí, y yo en ustedes. Así como el pámpano no puede llevar fruto por sí mismo, si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco ustedes, si no permanecen en mí.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 Y o soy la vid y ustedes los pámpanos; el que permanece en mí, y yo en él, éste lleva mucho fruto; porque separados de mí ustedes nada pueden hacer.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 E l que no permanece en mí, será desechado como pámpano, y se secará; a éstos se les recoge y se les arroja al fuego, y allí arden.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 S i permanecen en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en ustedes, pidan todo lo que quieran, y se les concederá.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 E n esto es glorificado mi Padre: en que lleven mucho fruto, y sean así mis discípulos.

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 A sí como el Padre me ha amado, así también yo los he amado a ustedes; permanezcan en mi amor.

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 S i obedecen mis mandamientos, permanecerán en mi amor; así como yo he obedecido los mandamientos de mi Padre, y permanezco en su amor.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 E stas cosas les he hablado, para que mi gozo esté en ustedes, y su gozo sea completo.

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 » Éste es mi mandamiento: Que se amen unos a otros, como yo los he amado.

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 N adie tiene mayor amor que éste, que es el poner su vida por sus amigos.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 U stedes son mis amigos, si hacen lo que yo les mando.

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Y a no los llamaré siervos, porque el siervo no sabe lo que hace su señor; yo los he llamado amigos, porque todas las cosas que oí de mi Padre, se las he dado a conocer a ustedes.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16 » Ustedes no me eligieron a mí. Más bien, yo los elegí a ustedes, y los he puesto para que vayan y lleven fruto, y su fruto permanezca; para que todo lo que pidan al Padre en mi nombre, él se lo conceda.

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

17 É ste es mi mandamiento para ustedes: Que se amen unos a otros. El mundo los aborrecerá

These things I command you, that ye love one another.

18 » Si el mundo los aborrece, sepan que a mí me ha aborrecido antes que a ustedes.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19 S i ustedes fueran del mundo, el mundo amaría lo suyo; pero el mundo los aborrece porque ustedes no son del mundo, aun cuando yo los elegí del mundo.

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20 » Acuérdense de la palabra que les he dicho: El siervo no es mayor que su señor. Si a mí me han perseguido, también a ustedes los perseguirán; si han obedecido mi palabra, también obedecerán la de ustedes.

Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

21 P ero todo esto les harán por causa de mi nombre, porque no conocen al que me ha enviado.

But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

22 S i yo no hubiera venido, ni les hubiera hablado, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora no tienen excusa por su pecado.

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

23 E l que me aborrece a mí, también aborrece a mi Padre.

He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

24 S i yo no hubiera hecho entre ellos las obras que ningún otro ha hecho, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora las han visto, y nos han aborrecido tanto a mí como a mi Padre.

If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

25 P ero esto es para que se cumpla la palabra que está escrita en su ley: “Me aborrecieron sin motivo.”

But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

26 P ero cuando venga el Consolador, el Espíritu de verdad, el cual procede del Padre y a quien yo les enviaré de parte del Padre, él dará testimonio acerca de mí.

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

27 Y ustedes también darán testimonio, porque han estado conmigo desde el principio.

And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
