1 S e acercaba la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, llamada la Pascua.

Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover.

2 Y los principales sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban cómo dar muerte a Jesús, pues temían al pueblo.

And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.

3 E ntonces Satanás entró en Judas, llamado Iscariote, que pertenecía al número de los doce;

Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.

4 y él fue y discutió con los principales sacerdotes y con los oficiales sobre cómo se lo entregaría.

So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them.

5 E llos se alegraron y convinieron en darle dinero.

And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.

6 E l aceptó, y buscaba una oportunidad para entregarle, sin hacer un escándalo. Preparación de la Pascua

So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude. Jesus and His Disciples Prepare the Passover

7 L legó el día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura en que debía sacrificarse el cordero de la Pascua.

Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed.

8 E ntonces Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciendo: Id y preparad la Pascua para nosotros, para que la comamos.

And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

9 E llos le dijeron: ¿Dónde deseas que la preparemos?

So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?”

10 Y El les respondió: He aquí, al entrar en la ciudad, os saldrá al encuentro un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua; seguidle a la casa donde entre.

And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters.

11 Y diréis al dueño de la casa: “El Maestro te dice: ‘¿Dónde está la habitación, en la cual pueda comer la Pascua con mis discípulos?’”

Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’

12 E ntonces él os mostrará un gran aposento alto, dispuesto; preparad la allí.

Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”

13 E ntonces ellos fueron y encontraron todo tal como El les había dicho; y prepararon la Pascua. Institución de la Cena del Señor

So they went and found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover. Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper

14 C uando llegó la hora, se sentó a la mesa, y con El los apóstoles,

When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him.

15 y les dijo: Intensamente he deseado comer esta Pascua con vosotros antes de padecer;

Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;

16 p orque os digo que nunca más volveré a comerla hasta que se cumpla en el reino de Dios.

for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

17 Y habiendo tomado una copa, después de haber dado gracias, dijo: Tomad esto y repartidlo entre vosotros;

Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves;

18 p orque os digo que de ahora en adelante no beberé del fruto de la vid, hasta que venga el reino de Dios.

for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19 Y habiendo tomado pan, después de haber dado gracias, lo partió, y les dio, diciendo: Esto es mi cuerpo que por vosotros es dado; haced esto en memoria de mí.

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

20 D e la misma manera tomó la copa después de haber cenado, diciendo: Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre, que es derramada por vosotros.

Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

21 M as he aquí, la mano del que me entrega está conmigo en la mesa.

But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table.

22 P orque en verdad, el Hijo del Hombre va según se ha determinado, pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien El es entregado!

And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”

23 E ntonces ellos comenzaron a discutir entre sí quién de ellos sería el que iba a hacer esto. Los discípulos discuten sobre quién es el mayor

Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing. The Disciples Argue About Greatness

24 S e suscitó también entre ellos un altercado, sobre cuál de ellos debería ser considerado como el mayor.

Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest.

25 Y Jesús les dijo: Los reyes de los gentiles se enseñorean de ellos; y los que tienen autoridad sobre ellos son llamados bienhechores.

And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

26 P ero no es así con vosotros; antes, el mayor entre vosotros hágase como el menor, y el que dirige como el que sirve.

But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.

27 P orque, ¿cuál es mayor, el que se sienta a la mesa, o el que sirve ? ¿No lo es el que se sienta a la mesa ? Sin embargo, entre vosotros yo soy como el que sirve.

For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

28 V osotros sois los que habéis permanecido conmigo en mis pruebas;

“But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.

29 y así como mi Padre me ha otorgado un reino, yo os otorgo

And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me,

30 q ue comáis y bebáis a mi mesa en mi reino; y os sentaréis en tronos juzgando a las doce tribus de Israel. Jesús predice la negación de Pedro

that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial

31 S imón, Simón, mira que Satanás os ha reclamado para zarandearos como a trigo;

And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.

32 p ero yo he rogado por ti para que tu fe no falle; y tú, una vez que hayas regresado, fortalece a tus hermanos.

But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

33 Y Pedro le dijo: Señor, estoy dispuesto a ir contigo tanto a la cárcel como a la muerte.

But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”

34 P ero Jesús le dijo: Te digo, Pedro, que el gallo no cantará hoy hasta que tú hayas negado tres veces que me conoces. Bolsa, alforja y espada

Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.” Supplies for the Road

35 Y les dijo: Cuando os envié sin bolsa, ni alforja, ni sandalias, ¿acaso os faltó algo? Y ellos contestaron: No, nada.

And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.”

36 E ntonces les dijo: Pero ahora, el que tenga una bolsa, que la lleve consigo, de la misma manera también una alforja, y el que no tenga espada, venda su manto y compre una.

Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.

37 P orque os digo que es necesario que en mí se cumpla esto que está escrito: “Y con los transgresores fue contado ”; pues ciertamente, lo que se refiere a mí, tiene su cumplimiento.

For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.”

38 Y ellos dijeron: Señor, mira, aquí hay dos espadas. Y El les dijo: Es suficiente. Jesús en Getsemaní

So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.” The Prayer in the Garden

39 Y saliendo, se encaminó, como de costumbre, hacia el monte de los Olivos; y los discípulos también le siguieron.

Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him.

40 C uando llegó al lugar, les dijo: Orad para que no entréis en tentación.

When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

41 Y se apartó de ellos como a un tiro de piedra, y poniéndose de rodillas, oraba,

And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,

42 d iciendo: Padre, si es tu voluntad, aparta de mí esta copa; pero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya.

saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

43 E ntonces se le apareció un ángel del cielo, fortaleciéndole.

Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

44 Y estando en agonía, oraba con mucho fervor; y su sudor se volvió como gruesas gotas de sangre, que caían sobre la tierra.

And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

45 C uando se levantó de orar, fue a los discípulos y los halló dormidos a causa de la tristeza,

When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow.

46 y les dijo: ¿Por qué dormís? Levantaos y orad para que no entréis en tentación. Arresto de Jesús

Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.” Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane

47 M ientras todavía estaba El hablando, he aquí, llegó una multitud, y el que se llamaba Judas, uno de los doce, iba delante de ellos, y se acercó a Jesús para besarle.

And while He was still speaking, behold, a multitude; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him.

48 P ero Jesús le dijo: Judas, ¿con un beso entregas al Hijo del Hombre?

But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”

49 Y cuando los que rodeaban a Jesús vieron lo que iba a suceder, dijeron: Señor, ¿heriremos a espada ?

When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

50 Y uno de ellos hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote y le cortó la oreja derecha.

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.

51 R espondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Deteneos! Basta de esto. Y tocando la oreja al siervo, lo sanó.

But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.

52 E ntonces Jesús dijo a los principales sacerdotes, a los oficiales del templo y a los ancianos que habían venido contra El: ¿Habéis salido con espadas y garrotes como contra un ladrón ?

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

53 C uando estaba con vosotros cada día en el templo, no me echasteis mano; pero esta hora y el poder de las tinieblas son vuestros. La negación de Pedro

When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” Peter Denies Jesus, and Weeps Bitterly

54 H abiéndole arrestado, se lo llevaron y le condujeron a la casa del sumo sacerdote; mas Pedro le seguía de lejos.

Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed at a distance.

55 D espués de encender ellos una hoguera en medio del patio, y de sentarse juntos, Pedro se sentó entre ellos.

Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them.

56 Y una sirvienta, al verlo sentado junto a la lumbre, fijándose en él detenidamente, dijo: También éste estaba con El.

And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man was also with Him.”

57 P ero él lo negó, diciendo: Mujer, yo no le conozco.

But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”

58 U n poco después, otro al verlo, dijo: ¡Tú también eres uno de ellos! Pero Pedro dijo: ¡Hombre, no es cierto!

And after a little while another saw him and said, “You also are of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”

59 P asada como una hora, otro insistía, diciendo: Ciertamente éste también estaba con El, pues él también es galileo.

Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean.”

60 P ero Pedro dijo: Hombre, yo no sé de qué hablas. Y al instante, estando él todavía hablando, cantó un gallo.

But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.

61 E ntonces el Señor se volvió y miró a Pedro. Y recordó Pedro la palabra del Señor, cómo le había dicho: Antes que el gallo cante hoy, me negarás tres veces.

And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”

62 Y saliendo fuera, lloró amargamente. Jesús escarnecido

So Peter went out and wept bitterly. Jesus Mocked and Beaten

63 L os hombres que tenían a Jesús bajo custodia, se burlaban de El y le golpeaban;

Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him.

64 y vendándole los ojos, le preguntaban, diciendo: Adivina, ¿quién es el que te ha golpeado ?

And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck You?”

65 T ambién decían muchas otras cosas contra El, blasfemando. Jesús ante el concilio

And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him. Jesus Faces the Sanhedrin

66 C uando se hizo de día, se reunió el concilio de los ancianos del pueblo, tanto los principales sacerdotes como los escribas, y llevaron a Jesús ante su concilio, diciendo:

As soon as it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying,

67 S i tú eres el Cristo, dínoslo. Pero El les dijo: Si os lo digo, no creeréis;

“If You are the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will by no means believe.

68 y si os pregunto, no responderéis.

And if I also ask you, you will by no means answer Me or let Me go.

69 P ero de ahora en adelante, el Hijo del Hombre estara sentado a la diestra del poder de Dios.

Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”

70 D ijeron todos: Entonces, ¿tú eres el Hijo de Dios ? Y El les respondió: Vosotros decís que yo soy.

Then they all said, “Are You then the Son of God?” So He said to them, “You rightly say that I am.”

71 Y ellos dijeron: ¿Qué necesidad tenemos ya de testimonio? Pues nosotros mismos lo hemos oído de su propia boca.

And they said, “What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”
