1 V olvimos, pues, y subimos por el camino de Basán, y Og, rey de Basán, nos salió al encuentro con todo su pueblo para pelear en Edrei.

“Then we turned and went up the road to Bashan; and Og king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

2 P ero el Señor me dijo: “No le tengas miedo, porque en tu mano yo lo he entregado a él, y a todo su pueblo y su tierra; y harás con él tal como hiciste con Sehón, rey de los amorreos, que habitaba en Hesbón.”

And the Lord said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand; you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.’

3 A sí que el Señor nuestro Dios entregó también a Og, rey de Basán, con todo su pueblo en nuestra mano, y los herimos hasta que no quedaron sobrevivientes.

“So the Lord our God also delivered into our hands Og king of Bashan, with all his people, and we attacked him until he had no survivors remaining.

4 Y tomamos en aquel entonces todas sus ciudades; no quedó ciudad que no les tomáramos: sesenta ciudades, toda la región de Argob, el reino de Og en Basán.

And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

5 T odas éstas eran ciudades fortificadas con altas murallas, puertas y barras, aparte de muchos otros pueblos sin murallas.

All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides a great many rural towns.

6 L as destruimos totalmente, como hicimos con Sehón, rey de Hesbón, exterminando a todos los hombres, mujeres y niños de cada ciudad;

And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city.

7 p ero tomamos como nuestro botín todos los animales y los despojos de las ciudades.

But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we took as booty for ourselves.

8 A sí tomamos entonces la tierra de mano de los dos reyes de los amorreos que estaban del otro lado del Jordán, desde el valle del Arnón hasta el monte Hermón

“And at that time we took the land from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were on this side of the Jordan, from the River Arnon to Mount Hermon

9 ( los sidonios llaman a Hermón, Sirión, y los amorreos lo llaman Senir ):

(the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir),

10 t odas las ciudades de la meseta, todo Galaad y todo Basán, hasta Salca y Edrei, ciudades del reino de Og en Basán.

all the cities of the plain, all Gilead, and all Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

11 ( Porque sólo Og, rey de Basán, quedaba de los gigantes. Su cama era una cama de hierro; está en Rabá de los hijos de Amón. Tenía nueve codos de largo y cuatro codos de ancho, según el codo de un hombre.) Rubén, Gad y Manasés se establecen

“For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the giants. Indeed his bedstead was an iron bedstead. ( Is it not in Rabbah of the people of Ammon?) Nine cubits is its length and four cubits its width, according to the standard cubit. The Land East of the Jordan Divided

12 T omamos posesión, pues, de esta tierra en aquel tiempo. Desde Aroer, que está en el valle del Arnón, y la mitad de la región montañosa de Galaad y sus ciudades, se la di a los rubenitas y a los gaditas.

“And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the River Arnon, and half the mountains of Gilead and its cities, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites.

13 Y el resto de Galaad y todo Basán, el reino de Og, toda la región de Argob, se la di a la media tribu de Manasés. (En cuanto a todo Basán, se le llama la tierra de los gigantes.

The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to half the tribe of Manasseh. (All the region of Argob, with all Bashan, was called the land of the giants.

14 J air, hijo de Manasés, tomó toda la región de Argob hasta la frontera con Gesur y Maaca, y la llamó, es decir a Basán, según su propio nombre, Havot-jair, como se llama hasta hoy.)

Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and called Bashan after his own name, Havoth Jair, to this day.)

15 Y a Maquir le di Galaad.

“Also I gave Gilead to Machir.

16 A los rubenitas y a los gaditas les di desde Galaad hasta el valle del Arnón, el medio del valle como frontera, hasta el arroyo Jaboc, frontera de los hijos de Amón;

And to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave from Gilead as far as the River Arnon, the middle of the river as the border, as far as the River Jabbok, the border of the people of Ammon;

17 t ambién el Arabá, con el Jordán como frontera, desde el Cineret hasta el mar del Arabá, el mar Salado, al pie de las laderas del Pisga al oriente.

the plain also, with the Jordan as the border, from Chinnereth as far as the east side of the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.

18 Y en aquel tiempo yo os ordené, diciendo: “El Señor vuestro Dios os ha dado esta tierra para poseerla; todos vosotros, hombres valientes, cruzaréis armados delante de vuestros hermanos, los hijos de Israel.

“Then I commanded you at that time, saying: ‘The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. All you men of valor shall cross over armed before your brethren, the children of Israel.

19 “ Pero vuestras mujeres, vuestros pequeños y vuestro ganado (yo sé que tenéis mucho ganado ), permanecerán en las ciudades que os he dado,

But your wives, your little ones, and your livestock (I know that you have much livestock) shall stay in your cities which I have given you,

20 h asta que el Señor dé reposo a vuestros compatriotas como a vosotros, y posean ellos también la tierra que el Señor vuestro Dios les dará al otro lado del Jordán. Entonces podréis volver cada hombre a la posesión que os he dado.”

until the Lord has given rest to your brethren as to you, and they also possess the land which the Lord your God is giving them beyond the Jordan. Then each of you may return to his possession which I have given you.’

21 Y ordené a Josué en aquel tiempo, diciendo: “Tus ojos han visto todo lo que el Señor vuestro Dios ha hecho a estos dos reyes; así hará el Señor a todos los reinos por los cuales vas a pasar.

“And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings; so will the Lord do to all the kingdoms through which you pass.

22 “ No les temáis, porque el Señor vuestro Dios es el que pelea por vosotros.” No se le concede a Moisés cruzar el Jordán

You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.’ Moses Forbidden to Enter the Land

23 Y o también supliqué al Señor en aquel tiempo, diciendo:

“Then I pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying:

24 “ Oh Señor Dios, tú has comenzado a mostrar a tu siervo tu grandeza y tu mano poderosa; porque ¿qué dios hay en los cielos o en la tierra que pueda hacer obras y hechos tan poderosos como los tuyos ?

‘O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do anything like Your works and Your mighty deeds?

25 “ Permíteme, te suplico, cruzar y ver la buena tierra que está al otro lado del Jordán, aquella buena región montañosa y el Líbano.”

I pray, let me cross over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, those pleasant mountains, and Lebanon.’

26 P ero el Señor se enojó conmigo a causa de vosotros, y no me escuchó; y el Señor me dijo: “¡Basta! No me hables más de esto.

“But the Lord was angry with me on your account, and would not listen to me. So the Lord said to me: ‘Enough of that! Speak no more to Me of this matter.

27 “ Sube a la cumbre del Pisga y alza tus ojos al occidente, al norte, al sur y al oriente, y míra la con tus propios ojos, porque tú no cruzarás este Jordán.

Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift your eyes toward the west, the north, the south, and the east; behold it with your eyes, for you shall not cross over this Jordan.

28 “ Pero encarga a Josué, y anímale y fortalécele, porque él pasará a la cabeza de este pueblo, y él les dará por heredad la tierra que tú verás.”

But command Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see.’

29 Y nos quedamos en el valle frente a Bet-peor.

“So we stayed in the valley opposite Beth Peor.
