1 Y poco después, El comenzó a recorrer las ciudades y aldeas, proclamando y anunciando las buenas nuevas del reino de Dios; con El iban los doce,

Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him,

2 y también algunas mujeres que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malos y de enfermedades: María, llamada Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios,

and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons,

3 y Juana, mujer de Chuza, mayordomo de Herodes, y Susana, y muchas otras que de sus bienes personales contribuían al sostenimiento de ellos. Parábola del sembrador

and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance. The Parable of the Sower

4 H abiéndose congregado una gran multitud, y los que de varias ciudades acudían a El, les habló por parábola:

And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable:

5 E l sembrador salió a sembrar su semilla; y al sembrarla, una parte cayó junto al camino, y fue pisoteada y las aves del cielo se la comieron.

“A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.

6 O tra parte cayó sobre la roca, y tan pronto como creció, se secó, porque no tenía humedad.

Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture.

7 O tra parte cayó en medio de los espinos; y los espinos, al crecer con ella, la ahogaron.

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it.

8 Y otra parte cayó en tierra buena, y creció y produjo una cosecha a ciento por uno. Y al hablar estas cosas, Jesús exclamaba: El que tiene oídos para oír, que oiga. Explicación de la parábola

But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold.” When He had said these things He cried, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” The Purpose of Parables

9 S us discípulos le preguntaban qué quería decir esta parábola,

Then His disciples asked Him, saying, “What does this parable mean?”

10 y El dijo: A vosotros se os ha concedido conocer los misterios del reino de Dios, pero a los demás les hablo en parábolas, para que viendo, no vean; y oyendo, no entiendan.

And He said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘Seeing they may not see, And hearing they may not understand.’ The Parable of the Sower Explained

11 L a parábola es ésta: la semilla es la palabra de Dios.

“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12 Y aquéllos a lo largo del camino son los que han oído, pero después viene el diablo y arrebata la palabra de sus corazones, para que no crean y se salven.

Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

13 Y aquéllos sobre la roca son los que, cuando oyen, reciben la palabra con gozo; pero éstos no tienen raíz profunda; creen por algún tiempo, y en el momento de la tentación sucumben.

But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.

14 Y la semilla que cayó entre los espinos, éstos son los que han oído, y al continuar su camino son ahogados por las preocupaciones, las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y su fruto no madura.

Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

15 P ero la semilla en la tierra buena, éstos son los que han oído la palabra con corazón recto y bueno, y la retienen, y dan fruto con su perseverancia.

But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. The Parable of the Revealed Light

16 N adie enciende una lámpara y la cubre con una vasija, o la pone debajo de una cama, sino que la pone sobre un candelero para que los que entren vean la luz.

“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.

17 P ues no hay nada oculto que no haya de ser manifiesto, ni secreto que no haya de ser conocido y salga a la luz.

For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.

18 P or tanto, tened cuidado de cómo oís; porque al que tiene, más le será dado; y al que no tiene, aun lo que cree que tiene se le quitará. La madre y los hermanos de Jesús

Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.” Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Come to Him

19 E ntonces su madre y sus hermanos llegaron a donde El estaba, pero no podían acercarse a El debido al gentío.

Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and could not approach Him because of the crowd.

20 Y le avisaron: Tu madre y tus hermanos están afuera y quieren verte.

And it was told Him by some, who said, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see You.”

21 P ero respondiendo El, les dijo: Mi madre y mis hermanos son estos que oyen la palabra de Dios y la hacen. Jesús calma la tempestad

But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.” Wind and Wave Obey Jesus

22 Y uno de aquellos días, entró en una barca con sus discípulos, y les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado del lago. Y se hicieron a la mar.

Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.” And they launched out.

23 P ero mientras ellos navegaban, El se durmió; y una violenta tempestad descendió sobre el lago, y comenzaron a anegarse y corrían peligro.

But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy.

24 Y llegándose a El, le despertaron, diciendo: ¡Maestro, Maestro, que perecemos! Y El, levantándose, reprendió al viento y a las olas embravecidas, y cesaron y sobrevino la calma.

And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 Y El les dijo: ¿Dónde está vuestra fe? Pero ellos estaban atemorizados y asombrados, diciéndose unos a otros: ¿Quién, pues, es éste que aun a los vientos y al agua manda y le obedecen? El endemoniado gadareno

But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!” A Demon-Possessed Man Healed

26 N avegaron hacia la tierra de los gadarenos que está al lado opuesto de Galilea;

Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.

27 y cuando El bajó a tierra, le salió al encuentro un hombre de la ciudad poseído por demonios, y que por mucho tiempo no se había puesto ropa alguna, ni vivía en una casa, sino en los sepulcros.

And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs.

28 A l ver a Jesús, gritó y cayó delante de El, y dijo en alta voz: ¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? Te ruego que no me atormentes.

When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!”

29 P orque El mandaba al espíritu inmundo que saliera del hombre, pues muchas veces se había apoderado de él, y estaba atado con cadenas y grillos y bajo guardia; a pesar de todo rompía las ataduras y era impelido por el demonio a los desiertos.

For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.

30 E ntonces Jesús le preguntó: ¿Cómo te llamas? Y él dijo: Legión; porque muchos demonios habían entrado en él.

Jesus asked him, saying, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him.

31 Y le rogaban que no les ordenara irse al abismo.

And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.

32 Y había una piara de muchos cerdos paciendo allí en el monte; y los demonios le rogaron que les permitiera entrar en los cerdos. Y El les dio permiso.

Now a herd of many swine was feeding there on the mountain. So they begged Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them.

33 L os demonios salieron del hombre y entraron en los cerdos; y la piara se precipitó por el despeñadero al lago, y se ahogaron.

Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake and drowned.

34 Y cuando los que los cuidaban vieron lo que había sucedido, huyeron y lo contaron en la ciudad y por los campos.

When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country.

35 S alió entonces la gente a ver qué había sucedido; y vinieron a Jesús, y encontraron al hombre de quien habían salido los demonios, sentado a los pies de Jesús, vestido y en su cabal juicio, y se llenaron de temor.

Then they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.

36 Y los que lo habían visto, les contaron cómo el que estaba endemoniado había sido sanado.

They also who had seen it told them by what means he who had been demon-possessed was healed.

37 E ntonces toda la gente de la región alrededor de los gadarenos le pidió a Jesús que se alejara de ellos, porque estaban poseídos de un gran temor. Y El entrando a una barca, regresó.

Then the whole multitude of the surrounding region of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. And He got into the boat and returned.

38 P ero el hombre de quien habían salido los demonios le rogaba que le permitiera acompañarle; mas El lo despidió, diciendo:

Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,

39 V uelve a tu casa, y cuenta cuán grandes cosas Dios ha hecho por ti. Y él se fue, proclamando por toda la ciudad cuán grandes cosas Jesús había hecho por él. Jairo ruega por su hija

“Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him. A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed

40 C uando Jesús volvió, la multitud le recibió con gozo, porque todos le habían estado esperando.

So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him.

41 Y he aquí, llegó un hombre llamado Jairo, que era un oficial de la sinagoga; y cayendo a los pies de Jesús le rogaba que entrara a su casa;

And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house,

42 p orque tenía una hija única, como de doce años, que estaba al borde de la muerte. Pero mientras El iba, la muchedumbre le apretaba. Jesús sana a una mujer

for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him.

43 Y una mujer que había tenido un flujo de sangre por doce años y que había gastado en médicos todo cuanto tenía y no podía ser curada por nadie,

Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,

44 s e acercó a Jesús por detrás y tocó el borde de su manto, y al instante cesó el flujo de su sangre.

came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

45 Y Jesús dijo: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado? Mientras todos lo negaban, Pedro dijo, y los que con él estaban: Maestro, las multitudes te aprietan y te oprimen.

And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”

46 P ero Jesús dijo: Alguien me tocó, porque me di cuenta que de mí había salido poder.

But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”

47 A l ver la mujer que ella no había pasado inadvertida, se acercó temblando, y cayendo delante de El, declaró en presencia de todo el pueblo la razón por la cual le había tocado, y cómo al instante había sido sanada.

Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.

48 Y El le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha sanado; vete en paz. Jesús resucita a la hija de Jairo

And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

49 M ientras estaba todavía hablando, vino alguien de la casa del oficial de la sinagoga, diciendo: Tu hija ha muerto; no molestes más al Maestro.

While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”

50 P ero cuando Jesús lo oyó, le respondió: No temas; cree solamente, y ella será sanada.

But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.”

51 Y cuando El llegó a la casa, no permitió que nadie entrara con El sino sólo Pedro, Juan y Jacobo, y el padre y la madre de la muchacha.

When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl.

52 T odos la lloraban y se lamentaban; pero El dijo: No lloréis, porque no ha muerto, sino que duerme.

Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.”

53 Y se burlaban de El, sabiendo que ella había muerto.

And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.

54 P ero El, tomándola de la mano, clamó, diciendo: ¡Niña, levántate!

But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.”

55 E ntonces le volvió su espíritu, y se levantó al instante, y El mandó que le dieran de comer.

Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat.

56 Y sus padres estaban asombrados; pero El les encargó que no dijeran a nadie lo que había sucedido.

And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.
