1 H ijitos míos, os escribo estas cosas para que no pequéis. Y si alguno peca, Abogado tenemos para con el Padre, a Jesucristo el justo.

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

2 E l mismo es la propiciación por nuestros pecados, y no sólo por los nuestros, sino también por los del mundo entero.

And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. The Test of Knowing Him

3 Y en esto sabemos que hemos llegado a conocerle: si guardamos sus mandamientos.

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

4 E l que dice: Yo he llegado a conocerle, y no guarda sus mandamientos, es un mentiroso y la verdad no está en él;

He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

5 p ero el que guarda su palabra, en él verdaderamente el amor de Dios se ha perfeccionado. En esto sabemos que estamos en El.

But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

6 E l que dice que permanece en El, debe andar como El anduvo. Mandamiento sobre el amor fraternal

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

7 A mados, no os escribo un mandamiento nuevo, sino un mandamiento antiguo, que habéis tenido desde el principio; el mandamiento antiguo es la palabra que habéis oído.

Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning.

8 P or otra parte, os escribo un mandamiento nuevo, el cual es verdadero en El y en vosotros, porque las tinieblas van pasando, y la luz verdadera ya está alumbrando.

Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.

9 E l que dice que está en la luz, y aborrece a su hermano, está aún en tinieblas.

He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.

10 E l que ama a su hermano, permanece en la luz y no hay causa de tropiezo en él.

He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

11 P ero el que aborrece a su hermano, está en tinieblas y anda en tinieblas, y no sabe adónde va, porque las tinieblas han cegado sus ojos. No améis lo que está en el mundo

But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. Their Spiritual State

12 O s escribo a vosotros, hijos, porque vuestros pecados os han sido perdonados por su nombre.

I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.

13 O s escribo a vosotros, padres, porque conocéis al que ha sido desde el principio. Os escribo a vosotros, jóvenes, porque habéis vencido al maligno. Os he escrito a vosotros, niños, porque conocéis al Padre.

I write to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, Because you have known the Father.

14 O s he escrito a vosotros, padres, porque conocéis al que ha sido desde el principio. Os he escrito a vosotros, jóvenes, porque sois fuertes y la palabra de Dios permanece en vosotros y habéis vencido al maligno.

I have written to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one. Do Not Love the World

15 N o améis al mundo ni las cosas que están en el mundo. Si alguno ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 P orque todo lo que hay en el mundo, la pasión de la carne, la pasión de los ojos y la arrogancia de la vida, no proviene del Padre, sino del mundo.

For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

17 Y el mundo pasa, y también sus pasiones, pero el que hace la voluntad de Dios permanece para siempre. Advertencias contra el anticristo

And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Deceptions of the Last Hour

18 H ijitos, es la última hora, y así como oísteis que el anticristo viene, también ahora han surgido muchos anticristos; por eso sabemos que es la última hora.

Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

19 S alieron de nosotros, pero en realidad no eran de nosotros, porque si hubieran sido de nosotros, habrían permanecido con nosotros; pero salieron, a fin de que se manifestara que no todos son de nosotros.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

20 P ero vosotros tenéis unción del Santo, y todos vosotros lo sabéis.

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

21 N o os he escrito porque ignoréis la verdad, sino porque la conocéis y porque ninguna mentira procede de la verdad.

I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 ¿ Quién es el mentiroso, sino el que niega que Jesús es el Cristo ? Este es el anticristo, el que niega al Padre y al Hijo.

Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.

23 T odo aquel que niega al Hijo tampoco tiene al Padre; el que confiesa al Hijo tiene también al Padre.

Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. Let Truth Abide in You

24 E n cuanto a vosotros, que permanezca en vosotros lo que oísteis desde el principio. Si lo que oísteis desde el principio permanece en vosotros, vosotros también permaneceréis en el Hijo y en el Padre.

Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

25 Y esta es la promesa que El mismo nos hizo: la vida eterna.

And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.

26 O s he escrito estas cosas respecto a los que están tratando de engañaros.

These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you.

27 Y en cuanto a vosotros, la unción que recibisteis de El permanece en vosotros, y no tenéis necesidad de que nadie os enseñe; pero así como su unción os enseña acerca de todas las cosas, y es verdadera y no mentira, y así como os ha enseñado, permanecéis en El.

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. The Children of God

28 Y ahora, hijos, permaneced en El, para que cuando se manifieste, tengamos confianza y no nos apartemos de El avergonzados en su venida.

And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

29 S i sabéis que El es justo, sabéis también que todo el que hace justicia es nacido de El.

If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.
