1 C uando Israel era muchacho, yo lo amé, y de Egipto llamé a mi hijo.

“When Israel was a child, I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son.

2 C omo los llamaban, así ellos se iban de su presencia; a los baales sacrificaban, y a las esculturas ofrecían sahumerios.

As they called them, So they went from them; They sacrificed to the Baals, And burned incense to carved images.

3 Y o con todo eso guiaba en pies al mismo Efraín, tomándolos de sus brazos; y no conocieron que yo los cuidaba.

“I taught Ephraim to walk, Taking them by their arms; But they did not know that I healed them.

4 C on cuerdas humanas los traje, con cuerdas de amor; y fui para ellos como los que alzan el yugo de sobre sus mejillas, y allegué hacia él la comida.

I drew them with gentle cords, With bands of love, And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them.

5 N o tornará a tierra de Egipto, antes el mismo Assur será su rey, porque no se quisieron convertir.

“He shall not return to the land of Egypt; But the Assyrian shall be his king, Because they refused to repent.

6 Y caerá espada sobre sus ciudades, y consumirá sus aldeas; las consumirá a causa de sus consejos.

And the sword shall slash in his cities, Devour his districts, And consume them, Because of their own counsels.

7 E ntre tanto, está mi pueblo adherido a la rebelión contra mí; aunque me llaman a lo Alto, ninguno absolutamente quiere ensalzarme.

My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him.

8 ¿ Cómo tengo de dejarte, oh Efraín? ¿He de entregarte yo, Israel? ¿Cómo podré yo hacerte como Adma, ni ponerte como a Zeboim? Mi corazón se revuelve dentro de mí, se inflama toda mi compasión.

“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I set you like Zeboiim? My heart churns within Me; My sympathy is stirred.

9 N o ejecutaré el furor de mi ira, no volveré para destruir a Efraín; porque Dios soy, y no hombre; el Santo en medio de ti; y no entraré en la ciudad.

I will not execute the fierceness of My anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim. For I am God, and not man, The Holy One in your midst; And I will not come with terror.

10 E n pos del SEÑOR caminarán; él bramará como león; cual león rugirá él de cierto, y los hijos vendrán temblando del occidente.

“They shall walk after the Lord. He will roar like a lion. When He roars, Then His sons shall come trembling from the west;

11 C omo ave se moverán velozmente de Egipto, y de la tierra de Asiria como paloma; y los pondré en sus casas, dice el SEÑOR.

They shall come trembling like a bird from Egypt, Like a dove from the land of Assyria. And I will let them dwell in their houses,” Says the Lord. God’s Charge Against Ephraim

12 M e cercó Efraín con mentira, y la Casa de Israel con engaño; mas Judá aún domina con Dios, y es fiel con los santos.

“Ephraim has encircled Me with lies, And the house of Israel with deceit; But Judah still walks with God, Even with the Holy One who is faithful.
