1 P alabra que vino a Jeremías acerca de todo el pueblo de Judá en el año cuarto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, el cual es el año primero de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia;

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon),

2 l o que habló Jeremías profeta a todo el pueblo de Judá, y a todos los moradores de Jerusalén, diciendo:

which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

3 D esde el año trece de Josías hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, hasta este día, que son veintitrés años, vino a mí palabra del SEÑOR, la cual hablé a vosotros, madrugando y dando aviso; mas no oísteis.

“From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, this is the twenty-third year in which the word of the Lord has come to me; and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, but you have not listened.

4 Y envió el SEÑOR a vosotros todos sus siervos los profetas, madrugando y enviándoles; mas no oísteis, ni inclinasteis vuestro oído para escuchar,

And the Lord has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear.

5 c uando decían: Volveos ahora de vuestro mal camino y de la maldad de vuestras obras, y morad sobre la tierra que os dio el SEÑOR, a vosotros y a vuestros padres para siempre;

They said, ‘Repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers forever and ever.

6 y no caminéis en pos de dioses ajenos, sirviéndoles y encorvándoos a ellos, ni me provoquéis a ira con la obra de vuestras manos; y no os haré mal.

Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’

7 P ero no me oíste, dijo el SEÑOR, provocándome a ira con la obra de vuestras manos para mal vuestro.

Yet you have not listened to Me,” says the Lord, “that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

8 P or tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Por cuanto no oísteis mis palabras,

“Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Because you have not heard My words,

9 h e aquí enviaré yo, y tomaré todos los linajes del aquilón, dice el SEÑOR, y a Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, mi siervo, y los traeré contra esta tierra, y contra sus moradores, y contra todas estas naciones en derredor; y los mataré, y los pondré por escarnio, y por silbo, y en soledades perpetuas.

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ says the Lord, ‘and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

10 Y haré perder de entre ellos voz de gozo y voz de alegría, voz de desposado y voz de desposada, voz de muelas, y luz de candil.

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

11 Y toda esta tierra será puesta en soledad, en espanto; y servirán estos gentiles al rey de Babilonia setenta años.

And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

12 Y será que, cuando fueren cumplidos los setenta años, visitaré sobre el rey de Babilonia y sobre aquella gente su iniquidad, dijo el SEÑOR, y sobre la tierra de los caldeos; y yo la pondré en desiertos para siempre.

‘Then it will come to pass, when seventy years are completed, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity,’ says the Lord; ‘and I will make it a perpetual desolation.

13 Y traeré sobre aquella tierra todas mis palabras que he hablado contra ella, con todo lo que está escrito en este libro, profetizado por Jeremías contra todos los gentiles.

So I will bring on that land all My words which I have pronounced against it, all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied concerning all the nations.

14 P orque se servirán también de ellos muchas naciones, y reyes grandes; y yo les pagaré conforme a sus hechos, y conforme a la obra de sus manos.

(For many nations and great kings shall be served by them also; and I will repay them according to their deeds and according to the works of their own hands.)’” Judgment on the Nations

15 P orque así me dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: Toma de mi mano el vaso del vino de este furor, y da a beber de él a todos los gentiles a los cuales yo te envío.

For thus says the Lord God of Israel to me: “Take this wine cup of fury from My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it.

16 Y beberán, y temblarán, y enloquecerán delante de la espada que yo envío entre ellos.

And they will drink and stagger and go mad because of the sword that I will send among them.”

17 Y tomé el vaso de la mano del SEÑOR, y di de beber a todos los gentiles a los cuales me envió el SEÑOR:

Then I took the cup from the Lord ’s hand, and made all the nations drink, to whom the Lord had sent me:

18 A Jerusalén, y a las ciudades de Judá, y a sus reyes, y a sus príncipes, para que yo los pusiera en soledad, en escarnio, y en silbo, y en maldición, como este día;

Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;

19 a Faraón rey de Egipto, y a sus siervos, a sus príncipes, y a todo su pueblo;

Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his princes, and all his people;

20 y a toda la mezcla de gente, y a todos los reyes de tierra de Uz, y a todos los reyes de la tierra de los Filisteos, y a Ascalón, y a Gaza, y a Ecrón, y al residuo de Asdod;

all the mixed multitude, all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the Philistines (namely, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod);

21 a Edom, a Moab, a los hijos de Amón;

Edom, Moab, and the people of Ammon;

22 a todos los reyes de Tiro, a todos los reyes de Sidón, a todos los reyes de las islas que están de ese lado del mar;

all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are across the sea;

23 a Dedán, a Tema, a Buz, a todos los que están al cabo del mundo;

Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who are in the farthest corners;

24 a todos los reyes de Arabia, a todos los reyes de pueblos, la Arabia que habita en el desierto;

all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the mixed multitude who dwell in the desert;

25 a todos los reyes de Zimri, a todos los reyes de Elam, a todos los reyes de Media;

all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes;

26 y a todos los reyes del aquilón, los de cerca y los de lejos, los unos con los otros; y a todos los reinos de la tierra que están sobre la faz de la tierra, y el rey de Sesac (Babilonia) beberá después de ellos.

all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world which are on the face of the earth. Also the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

27 L es dirás, pues: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Bebed, y embriagaos, y vomitad, y caed, y no os levantéis delante de la espada que yo envío entre vosotros.

“Therefore you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Drink, be drunk, and vomit! Fall and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.”’

28 Y será que, si no quisieren tomar el vaso de tu mano para beber, les dirás tú: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Habéis de beber.

And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “You shall certainly drink!

29 P orque he aquí, que a la ciudad sobre la cual es llamado mi nombre yo comienzo a hacer mal; ¿y solamente vosotros seréis absueltos? No seréis absueltos, porque espada traigo sobre todos los moradores de la tierra, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

For behold, I begin to bring calamity on the city which is called by My name, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished, for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth,” says the Lord of hosts.’

30 T ú, pues, profetizarás a ellos todas estas palabras, y les dirás: El SEÑOR bramará como león desde lo alto, y desde la morada de su Santidad dará su voz; enfurecido bramará sobre su morada; canción de lagareros cantará contra todos los moradores de la tierra.

“Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say to them: ‘The Lord will roar from on high, And utter His voice from His holy habitation; He will roar mightily against His fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes, Against all the inhabitants of the earth.

31 L legó el estruendo hasta el cabo de la tierra; porque es juicio del SEÑOR con los gentiles: él es el Juez de toda carne; entregará los impíos a espada, dijo el SEÑOR.

A noise will come to the ends of the earth— For the Lord has a controversy with the nations; He will plead His case with all flesh. He will give those who are wicked to the sword,’ says the Lord.”

32 A sí dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: He aquí que el mal sale de gente en gente, y grande tempestad se levantará de los fines de la tierra.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Behold, disaster shall go forth From nation to nation, And a great whirlwind shall be raised up From the farthest parts of the earth.

33 Y serán muertos del SEÑOR en aquel día desde un cabo de la tierra hasta el otro cabo; no se endecharán, ni se recogerán, ni serán enterrados; como estiércol serán sobre la faz de la tierra.

And at that day the slain of the Lord shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall become refuse on the ground.

34 A ullad, pastores, y clamad; y revolcaos en el polvo, mayorales del rebaño; porque cumplidos son vuestros días para ser vosotros degollados y esparcidos, y caeréis como vaso de codicia.

“Wail, shepherds, and cry! Roll about in the ashes, You leaders of the flock! For the days of your slaughter and your dispersions are fulfilled; You shall fall like a precious vessel.

35 Y no habrá huida para los pastores, ni escape para los mayorales del rebaño.

And the shepherds will have no way to flee, Nor the leaders of the flock to escape.

36 ¡ Voz del grito de los pastores, y aullido de los mayorales del hato se oirá! Porque el SEÑOR asoló sus majadas.

A voice of the cry of the shepherds, And a wailing of the leaders to the flock will be heard. For the Lord has plundered their pasture,

37 Y las majadas quietas serán taladas por la ira del furor del SEÑOR.

And the peaceful dwellings are cut down Because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

38 D esamparó como leoncillo su morada; porque la tierra de ellos fue asolada por la ira del opresor, y por el enojo de su furor.

He has left His lair like the lion; For their land is desolate Because of the fierceness of the Oppressor, And because of His fierce anger.”
